My advice is that you need to decide if what you could realistically get out of it (not that much) is worth more than the sentimental value plus the utility value of the car. You're likely to regret selling later, especially if you don't get much out of the car.

Yeah e36s wernt worth anything like 5 years ago now they are going up in value but his car isn’t really a clean example lol

It's up to you, but I'd probably just drive it until it dies or sell it to buy something more fun... This E46 is unfortunately too far gone to put serious money into... Maybe you could fix a few things to get it into decent cosmetic and mechanical condition, so you could sell it for some money...

Just buy another e46 they are still relatively cheap, I’d get a 330i or 330ci zhp or even a M3 if you can do the upkeep. I manual and m54b30 swapped my auto 325i but it has a clean body
