I live in Alberta which is a dry climate but almost every truck that is going on to 10 years old or older weather it;s a Ford Chevy Nissan Toyota Dodge all rust out around the rear wheel wells.

Everyone talks smack about plastic interiors. Show me a car from the past 40 years that has a dash made out of anything but plastic. Or even one that looks appreciably different to the point that you can say: "ah...now this is great plastic...much better than that other plastic." The styling is actually not that bad in these cars.

Just bought a 1ST Gen 2.9 S80. Best car I have ever driven. No turbo fun but what a fantastic engine and nice drive. Going to use time and money to restore it to 100%.

Not at all surprising. Most people in the US would rather have to buy a new truck every 8 years for $80k because the "old one" rusted out on them than to spray the body panels and chassis with liquid rustproofing every year before winter season. Eastern Canada gets more road salt and calcium every year than the US rust belt, yet older cars & trucks look much nicer there and last 3x longer. Rustproofing for the win!

I live in the midwest, been in michigan and wisconsin. I watched my dakota turn into dust over the course of about 10 years. Hard to find them without rust around here. Even if you take it to the car wash and try to get the salt off, those things rust everywhere, even the roof.

That caddy is a 3rd gen Seville, a 4 to 5L V8 engine that powers the front wheels on those.

For some reason I find this fascinating to watch. I also live in the rust belt, and if the vehicle is over 10 years old, the earth starts to reclaim it. Some vehicles rust worse, i like to take note of those older chevy trucks and dodge caravans because of a personal connection with them. Good video.

It's sad how early 2000's GMC and Toyota trucks are probably some of the most reliable vehicles ever made, but they have such bad rust problems.

I live near Milwaukee. I immigrated from the 1st world. There are no MOT annual tests here and the vehicles are homicidally dangerous.... (tires/rust etc). Similarly, people ride motorcycles whilst wearing no helmets, and death through head injuries are many.... It still makes my jaw drop when i see vehicles that would be grounded within 2 miles in Europe..

Honestly, it's up to you on whether you want to upgrade to the E90, but if you get it cheap enough, then I'd say it's not too bad... I reckon the best E9X is to get is the E92, as they look pretty nice...

Good video. Nice to see a younger driver appreciate the C4. Now for some constructive criticism if you want to get serious about C4’s. You missed a lot of the historic significance of the C4. The corvette was about to die as it had become a joke in the world of sports cars. The C4 came out and immediately changed that view, even with the 84 and its Cross-Fire Injection. The C4 matched or beat the performance and HANDLING specs of any of Europes best sports cars. The handling is anything but weak. The C4 was developed on the track and its handling specs beat the best from Europe. Its very respectable even by today’s standards. If yours is mushy, there is something wrong in the suspension. Given the duct tape OB the seats there is No telling what the previous owner did to the suspension. It’s totally ludicrous to ever compare a 40 year old sports car to a C8 or a modern European car. It would have been way faster if not for the ***# government. In addition, NEVER use the steering wheel to enter or exit the vehicle or you will destroy the steering column. Thats a C4 sin. As the new owner of a Corvette of historical significance i hope you will spend the many hours necessary to clean it up and fix the glaring cosmetic atrocities that exist in the interior and any mechanical issues that were not apparent in the video. The engine didn’t start properly and the duct tape on the seats is unimaginable. The previous owner should be flogged and banned from future Corvette ownership. I intend these comments to be constructive and informative. Overall good video and I hope you get much enjoyment out of your car, but it’s not going to come cheap or easy. Guess how I know that?

At the 1245 mark you noted how heavy the hood is. C4 Corvettes have 2 lift struts that assist the lift. When they go bad, the hood is difficult to raise. Go ahead and replaced them.

I'm driving S80 model year Early 2016. Inside and outside tweaked, only downside is it only as 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engines - I have a diesel... and I am really big fan of it... The interior is bit more sophisticated compared to 2009 model
