Even though the world is fucked, I take comfort from listening to Doug Stanhope talk about how it is fucked.

IMHO him, Hicks, Carlin and Bruce got mostly one thing on common: they are so direct that they are on the direct border to offend most people, and that was and is needed.

Big thanks alhough it's been a while since that great show. One of the best Stanhope interviews. Deeper stuff, not that basic shit "what inspires you", "how did you start". Big up and thanks again!

Stanhope is easily the most enlightened comic out there. I think he also said it, that if he could just communicate to audiences who were 14 years old in bars(jnstead of 21 & up), he might make more of a dent.
Stanhope for Prez. FUCK the rules of the game.

    Stanhope likes Howard Bloom
    My mind is blown
I admire them both. Nobody I know seems to know who they are. Yet one considers the other an influence. That's just amazing.

+Jeremy Kean Thats life. You read a book. Nobody knows anything. It's just people writing their theories, stories, jokes and then someone else is inspired by it so they create art, comedy, or whatever based on it and throw in their own thoughts if they have any.

@samisacool1 - Well I've only been around 40 years. And as a kid, a man could go door to door selling vacuums and such, while owning a car and a house, raising a family of four, and having a stay at home wife. And still retire after 20 or so years. Now ----- I should be retired, but am not a day closer than the day I graduated high school. No wife, no kids, no house, and still barely making it. And I'm better off than most people I know. And we're still not at the bottom of this hill.

not hating but i wish you had played the conversation and questions being asked unedited instead of the black screen with the text, only reason is im trying to draw and work while listening and i have to keep rewinding and looking for the question. At 12:00 the interviewer was about to speak and i really wanted to hear what he had to say even tho im here for stanhope. All in all awesome interview tho

the only thing doug has in common with hicks and pryor is that doug is just as good as a comedian as they were. period. and with the deaths of them and carlin, dangerfield, and maybe kinison.....doug is now hands down the best living comedian and for anyone that does not agree just does not get it. To put in an ez way....bill burg is the 2nd best comedian on the planet but he is such a distant second it isnt worth even bringing it up, that is how fine doug stanhope is

Residential and municipal waste is like 1% of all waste and pollution. The main culprits are industry, gov and military. Every single man and woman on earth could recycle 100% of their trash and there would still be 99% of it being pumped into the environment every single fucking day. Recycled tote bags and flip flops are not going to make one bit of difference.

it might be a shame that Stanhope is so jaded he refused to have a child for his own personal life but in the big picture is means nothing. kind of like what he says about recycling, his not having a child in the big picture "environmentally" means nothing, personally it may be tragic for him, or not

I depends some people in 3rd world countries are already "paying" only 500 years ago we lived like shit and we were "paying" its subjective it doesn't mean we wont be happy, but this conversation is extremely complicated. But the fat cats are scared because we might steal their resources. And it depends how hard the shit hits the fan our paradigm might shift and we might become savage.
