As a veteran drummer it always pisses me off when people and the internet badmouth bass players. Like they are useless or talent-less. The fact is without bass the song would sound extremely thin. You never really notice the huge contribution the bass makes to a piece of music until it is removed.

    • @WolfsBlood44
      @WolfsBlood44 8 років тому +1

+austindorf83 Agreed. And that's exactly one of the problems with the internet. People talk shit about things they have absolutely no experience with. Then a sheep follows it....then more sheep and more sheep. Before you know it a wide spread ideal has become universal and it's totally false. Of course this happens usually with teens who have almost zero life experience and are just trying to act like they know everything to impress people.

As soon as I saw the title of the video, I just starting humming Feel good Inc. But I guess it isn't rock so another list for another time.

They're always ignorant towards people like stone roses, when honestly they're the best band of all time in my opinion.

    My version:
(Based on WatchMojo's pick of artists)
    10. Iron Maiden - The Trooper (1983)
    9. Primus - Jerry Was a Racecar Driver (1991) or Tommy the Cat (1991)
    8. Metallica - Orion (1986) (Unchanged)
    7. (I wouldn't even put any The Who bassline on this list, this pick could have easily been replaced with any other bassline ever)
    (I would've put Queen's Under Pressure (1982), instead)
    6. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Factory of Faith (2011), Can't Stop (2002) or Californication (1999)
    5. Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love (1969) or The Song Remains the Same (1973)
    4. Rush - YYZ (1981) (Unchanged)
    3. The Beatles - Come Together (1969) (Unchanged)
    2. Pink Floyd - Money (1973) (Unchanged)
    Honorable mentions:
    TOOL - Schism (2001) (Unchanged)
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. (2005)
    (Unchanged)
(I wouldn't include any other bassline they've included as honorable mention)
    1. Queen - Another One Bites the Dust (1980) (Unchanged)
Edit: In summary I agree with some of the picks, but some stuff can be changed.

I was hoping for Chris Squire's Roundabout would be No. 1. This is the greatest Bassline ever for me.

Leaving off Mr. Chris Squire (“Roundabout” or “Heart on the Sunrise”) is like ignoring Beethoven or Mozart on a classical music list.

Yeah, seems like a number of the "honorable mentions" deserved to be on the list. There were definitely some weak choices that made the actual list. This is after all a list of basslines, not greatest rock bassists....that has it's own list...
