In shower wash routine that isn't talked about in this video:
I shampoo my roots only and rinse with warm water, then apply my conditioner to the length of my hair only (from nape of my neck down). I then detangle with my fingers or a Wet Brush and let the conditioner sit in my hair while I finish my shower. To rinse the conditioner out, I will flip my hair forward and rinse the conditioner out while brushing my hair with my fingers. This is how I get all of my hair smoothed forward as you see at the beginning of this video.
Explanation of plopping my hair in a t-shirt:
Plopping absorbs water from my hair without creating frizz and gives my curls a chance to form on their own before I scrunch the last bit of water out of my hair after the 15 minutes of plopping. (Video on how I tie the t-shirt around my head coming very soon!)
Credit for the part flipping technique goes to India Batson

I also use only cream for curly hair and a very lightweight styling primer( That’s it ). Everyone around me compliments my hair and asks me what is my hair routine. It’s funny since I don’t put anything else except what I mentioned so I sound like I’m lying 😂.
I don’t understand those who use too many products 😂.it’s too much for a lazy person like me🙄 and I don’t like putting many products. I feel like it will damage my hair after many years.

Me too. Just a blob of curl cream when wet thats all. I saw that deva curl video and i cannot imagine using that many products every single day. I mean your hair wont know what it is really meant to be without all that shit in your hair! hope that makes sense.

A word of caution: please make sure the conditioner you're using as a leave-in is formulated specifically for use as a leave-in. Wash out conditioners are not PH balanced which can cause problems like hair loss. I'd hate to see that gorgeous mane of yours diminished in any way! Not Your Mother's Curl Talk and TréLuxe are two lines that I know of that have duel wash out or leave-in conditioners. I'm sure if you check around you can find an inexpensive leave-in. Also, if your hair isn't quite so soppy wet, you shouldn't have to use as much product and won't loose as much when you scrunch. Because a lot of it is coming back out with the water. It cuts down on drying time as well. 👍👍

I bought this conditioner to try out because it has been recommended several times from curly hair influencers. I tried it as a leave and also by washing out and it was the worse! It says its silicone free so maybe my hair just does better with silicones in my conditioner 🤷🏻‍♀️

I got him some non-girly leave-in and his hair is slowly, but surely, getting denser. It'd be quicker if he'd hold still long enough for me to put Ayurvedic remedies on his noggin, but he's a typical guy. 🏃‍♂️😞🤦‍♀️

I have been working on my curly routine for 3 years now and lately, as my hair has gotten longer, my technique had me applying wayyyy too much product throughout my hair. I decided to start looking around at different application techniques again and yours was a GAME CHANGER! I have a similar pattern to your hair and noticed in newer videos, your long hair was my #goals! I realized I also prioritize volume over definition so your routine was so helpful! After coming across you on Instagram which lead me to your UA-cam page,! After watching your one Video that you have posted you have given me so much hope for my hair and I have already seen improvement with just one wash day after explaining so simply how to apply the stylers. And I know I don’t have to use so many different products that are so expensive. Thank you for also explaining how you rinse the conditioner out. Flipping my head forward and combing through with my fingers and then applying the leave in on fully wet hair flipped forward made Such a difference!!

I’m training my hair to be more wavy, since my hair is a frizzy mess of straight parts, beautiful wavy parts, some loose ringlet and curls, and some half waves (it’ll start off straight or wavy - usually straight- and have a wave then go back to being straight and vise-versa). I don’t really wanna go full curly girl method, mainly because it’s too strict for me and I wanna be free to use what works for me, but I do want some tips. I already use a cotton tee to dry my hair and it’s definitely cut down a lot of frizz. I tried using my roller brush as a denman - bad idea: it gave me some cute ringlets in the front and made my hair less frizzy, but made most of my hair straighter. I’ve also been doing the scrunching method for a long time now, and recently started doing it in the shower with my conditioner, but near the mid and end of my hair, doesn’t hold the scrunch or looks straighter than the rest. I tried twisting pieces and then scrunching, but no luck. I’m also talking about the side of my head, you have your front section, then the back, and of course - there’s a middle. The back, I understand but the middle is tricky, especially under parts. Any tips on how to help your hair hold the scrunch or is that what the gel is for? I’m also terribly sorry this is devastatingly long, it’s a terrible habit of mine. Thank you to whoever reads this and even helps, any little bit helps! I hope you all are well and best wishes! 🌻♥️✨

That's what I struggle the most with is smoothing my hair out of the shower to prep it for the stylers. Anytime I've tried to style upside down the hair at my neck ends up wonky and weird.

    You are a natural beauty...those
amazing eyes! 😍. At last, an easy to follow, effective curly routine that doesn’t involve dozens and dozens of products and accessories. As a curly newbie, this will be the one I follow going forward! Thanks 🙏😊

What about the next morning after you sleep on them. Mine ends up being a big frizzy mess again and you cant comb or brush it so its stays frizzy unless I soak it down again. But I do not have time ever innthe mornings to do all these steps again or wait for it to dry. I already have to get up at 4am for work. So what do you do in the mornings??

Patricia Morock me too! I could copy and paste your comment because I have the exact same issues! Up so early, refreshing is a bigger hassle than just washing and starting over. The love/hate curl life...lol

That claw clip trick is genius!! I always touch that front section of my hair too much when my hair is air drying and my curl pattern suffers for it. Can't wait to try this out next wash day! Thanks for the video!

my hair used to be like this, but then i used relaxer for too long and I feel like it'll never be like this again :( I have this one side that straight up (no pun intended) just does not curl anymore. Wish I could go back in time and tell myself to stop :(

How tf dis you make a curly hair routine look so damn simple ?! I’ve watched TONS of tutorials and I could never style my hair without having so much damn frizz and I use expensive hair products too 😩 I will definitely try this. I’ll update on how this goes for me

    • @angelicarodriguez4488
      @angelicarodriguez4488 4 роки тому +1

The key is to style your hair while its soaking wet and to not disturb it while it is drying. If you diffuse make sure not to touch your hair with the diffuser until it's about 80 to 90% dry, then after it's mostly dry you can cup your hair in the diffuser until it's 100% dry.

Angelica Rodriguez ahh ive been doing it wrong! I was doing leave in and than gel scrunch and went straight to diffusing. So its do all that and let hair air dry till 90% and than diffuse. Maybe thats why its frizzy for me.

I have been following Tay's routine for a few weeks now. My curls look great and I'm getting compliments. The dried frizz is gone! I'm spending less than $5 for gel instead of the $30 product I was using and my hair looks better.
@curly tay please link us to a decent hair dryer with a diffuser. I need a dryer and want to buy through your site.
So thankful to have a routine that works so well.

This technique is spot on!! However, I would not recommend the products used because they are not made with clean ingredients. Eventually they do take a toll on your hair and even worse, they get absorbed into your skin. I highly recommend the website, EWG.org to find out how clean the products you use are or to find good replacements.

Usually frizzy waves are due to a lot of heat/damage over time! The more you wear your hair naturally, the nicer the curls will develop. Over time you will have nice bouncy curls as long as you take care of your natural hair!

When I get out the shower I’ll brush my hair and than crutch it with my head upside down, take a follow of mouse and crutch it all over and than I take a glob of hair gel and do the same and than I take hair spray and spray the heck out of my hair and than I clip it all to the top of my head and lightly dry it with my hair dryer on low and than I just let it dry for a couple of hours and let it down and I have the Fullest curls ever with tons of volume! Of course my way takes forever a day but it’s worth it in the end and I have long long hair
