Considering that Sneasel's old design was apparently replaced with the final design at the last minute, it seems to explain why Sneasel's pallete was so odd in Gold and Silver. It was a carryover from the old Sneasel design, and they apparently didn't have time to make a new pallete for it before the game was released, something which wouldn't be rectified until Crystal. Another thing to note is that Porygon-2 looks similar to the Pon de Lion, which wasn't made until several years later. It is most likely a coincidence. Either way, I'm glad that isn't what we got.
Oh wow good eye, i didn't notice that about Sneasel in G/S. Yeah Porygon-2's was likely a coincidence but i'm happy they stuck with a smooth duck instead lol
I am glad that sneasel did not keep its beta design - the new one looks way more awesome. Sad that I could never use one properly in the gen 2 games because the only location you could fine one is post-game. And about Porygon2 - I had to google what Pon De Lion is xD OK, I think they avoided the design because of 2 reasons: It is a mascot for another company, so maybe to avoid rights issues and hidden advertising. And the other reason: Porygon is based on computer graphics evolution. So Polygons got smoother - The connection between going from a duck to a lion would not be very strong.
@@lindendrache8998 I agree that the final Sneasel design is better, but I still do like the beta design, even if it is a little basic. Judging by how long the design was apparently kicking around (it's even in Spaceworld '99, which was only four months before the final release), that may have been what we actually got if the final design was never made. As for where you can find one, Crystal actually has Sneasel in the Ice Path, which can then be traded to GS. For HGSS, you can find Sneasel in DPPt as soon as the sixth badge, and if you trade it as an egg, you can effectively have a Sneasel as soon as you can trade. The Beta Porygon-2 actually predates the Pon De Lion (which was only first made around the time of FireRed and LeafGreen's release a Generation later) so there wouldn't have been any legal issues at the time (It's a similar reason to why Silent Hills became New Bark Town). It was probably due to the fact that it going from a duck to a lion was weird. Apparently there was a guy who was connected to both Game Freak and Mister Donut, so that may be why they are so similar.
@@Hijiri_MIRACHION It is really weird how late Pokemon designs were changed back then - this would never happen today, everything must be planned with the card game, the games, the spinoffs, etc... somehow I miss the earlier days ;-) Sneasel's beta sprite needs a bit of a clean-up and compared to the final Sneasel it looks too "friendly" in my opinion. Back in the days of Gen 2 I only played the Silver version - I was a child back then and I got the luxury (!!) of having an old gameboy and a gameboy color with Pokemon Red / Silver to at least trade between those games. Getting a third cartridge - no chance back then... I only got to play crystal years later. Yes, there you can get Sneasel in the ice Path and it has its final design. Crystal made a lot things way better.
OOOOH, so Remoraid was shaped like a revolver gun and evolved into a tank. That makes a lot more sense. I always thought Remoraid was going to evolve into Mantine and they made a mistake or something with Octillery being the one that was a one form.
Remoraid and Octillery are still technically gun/tank inspired pokemon... It's just that they downplayed those elements enough that it takes effort to see, and is very easy to miss.
the reason remoraid is under mantine is because mantine is a fighter jet and remoraid are the guns. or at least i think that was what they were going for.
I think they made a huge mistake by not keeping remoraid as a Pokémon with a unique battle form when used in a double battle together with Mantine, giving it a higher defense and a speed boost for example. I know double battles were invented a gen later but they still could go back and rework pokemon (they gave gen 1 and gen 2 Pokémon abilities after all)
Personally, I figure Tabban, would just evolve from a Shellder when traded with a Slowpoke Tail item equipped (recalling that in Gen 2 "SlowpokeTail" was an item, a rather pointless item)
This is my hypothesis as well. I imagine by the point of the first demo it wasn't programmed in yet, but sometime before the game was finished it was scrapped to make room for another pokemon, and/or perhaps because they realised after the fact that they'd be encouraging you to reward some of Rocket's Pokemon cruelty in order to complete the pokedex. I still think it was a huge missed opportunity, and would have really nicely explained why the "Shellder" described in Slowbo's pokedex looks so different.
13:10 I never knew about the beta/demo builds but i’ve always seen the fluff on Murkrow’s head as a witch’s hat. It looks like it’s still meant to be a hat to me
When I was a kid, for some reason I always used to think Wobbuffet was an evolution of Girafarig. Good to know that could have been the case at one point!
So heads up that I do wish to do a Part 2 to this as well covering Cut Pokemon from a leak that goes beyond just the 97 and 99 build. In this case, it would also including the one Pokemon I forgot called "Mikon" in that video too. Stay tuned!
You're absolutely right! Its fish scales make it look like the chambers of a revolver and the lower fin looks like a trigger. I already knew about Octillery being based on a cannon but this is blowing my mind
Worth noting that between 97 and 99, Hitmontops orientation changes. The positioning of its arms and the two eyes that are above the single eye in 97, indicating that it's right side up and the feet are on its head. However, in 99, you can see the eyes and crossed arms change positioning, indicating that it's now balancing on its head.
I much prefer the beta design for Tangela's evolution. It looks more "designed" to me where Tangrowth mostly looks stretched out and less detailed than both its beta design and its pre-evolution. I also vastly prefer the old Girafarig. While I can see the possible problems arising from the design (like how to animate it in the anime) the design just fits the palindrome idea way better. Tsuinzo reminds me of Wobuffet's tail btw.
I'm a really big fan of Ditto's cut evolution. I wish Game Freak would introduce it in a new generation. Would be really cool to play a more tankier version of Ditto, but maybe they thought it could be too powerful.
While a tankier Ditto sounds neat, would that stat even matter once it transforms? I would like the idea that it'd also make any Pokemon it transforms into have higher def/special def too.
Ikari (Achorage) is one of my favorites of the cut Betas. I do not like Sharpedo very much, because it is missing a tail - yes, it should look like a bullet / torpedo - but c'mon, it looks like it is missing half of its body. Having a Water / Steel Shark-Pokemon with an anchor as a tail would be great! Also the Kotora / Raitora line would be great as final Pokemon. I also like the 1999 version of Aipom a lot more than the final form - the final one looks goofy as hell with its grin, I never used one on my team. But the 1999 form looks like a cute little monkey.
Manbo is probably a placeholder name due to the number that follows its name. Also worth noting regarding the Wobuffet/Twinsu connection: in the Spaceworld 99 build Twinsu's backsprite is a red Girafarig-like creature further cementing the connection between the two. This also means Twinsu's design was altered yet again after the sprite archive design. unfortunately no frontsprite exists of this one.
The Wobuffet prototype is really interesting. The Poke team sure did a lot of work just to cut them all later. Nice finds here! Excited for PT 2! (hope to see Imposter Prof. Oak)
@@TheObsessiveGamer Beta Legendary Doggos would be interesting if they brought back for lore purposes. Like what were the legendary beasts before they died and got reincarnated? Are they Johto region Pokemon that went extinct or are they from another region we haven’t been to yet?
@@TheObsessiveGamer And then there's the idea that since the Legendary Beasts are described as reincarnations of natural forces that the Legendary Birds are associated with, that the Birds died and were brought back as the Beasts.
I think I remember game magazines getting to see unrevealed Pokémon from the Spaceworld 1999 build that they couldn't show photos or screenshots of and could only describe them through text,, and beta Celebi was one I definitely remember. I just can't remember if it was Nintendo Official Magazine UK or N64 Magazine.
Wish we got Taaban as it'd be cool to get it if you evolved your Slowpoke into Slowking similar to getting Shedninja and Ninjask from Nincada. Thanks for the vid :)
Christ! There are so many good ones cut an so many of the beta versions look so much better than what we actually got. Seriously have to wonder wtf they were thinking.
Remoraid was based on a gun, which is why it evolves into the Pokemon that was based on a tank. Porygon2 was based on a lion donut mascot (for some reason.) Larvitar. Sunkern, Forretress, and Wobbuffet were just placeholders. Though I do wonder if Sunkern was originally going to look more like it's placeholder?
I watched this on my tv first and it looks so good! So many great visuals. Really glad you covered this topic. I think by separating the 97 and 99 leaks you made the content fresh.
The original designs for The Legendary Dogs could be the last of their kind, but after being revived by Ho-Oh, transform into their current forms. Maybe they'll show up if Pokémon Legends Johto ever happens one day.
I’ve been looking for videos that compile Pokémon cut content into a singular or short digestible series and I’m just surprised I didn’t find you sooner. For a long time I just found stupid shorts-only channels that give you like 2 or 3 tidbits at a time. You earned by sub, thank you much.
Madame was actually shown to be both male and female in the Space World Demo! It's not really odd, considering Mr. Mime can be male and female as well. Despite having "Mister" in its name.
I remember rumors of all these pikachu variants pikablu and pikaflare also mewthree and mewfour we used to have wild talks on the playground back in the day.
Also girafarig and wobuffet are both pokemon with false heads. Seems like maybe they had the idea for tsunizu and brought it along development, but later concluded the connection between the pokemon was too weak so they split them apart into different lines. The 1999 version is probably in the middle of that decision. Like, someone started to try to take tsunizu from rough draft into final form, and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth pursuing, and so they stopped with just a blob drawn
Pokemon Gen 2 are the games that keeps on giving! I really had no idea that there were a lot of cut pokemon from that generation! I wonder what would happen if they released these in an alternate timeline! Interesting... :)
Well we'd have a superior Wooper for one if they did lol. I really think they could take all these cut pokemon and make a whole generation out of them if they really wanted to
i played the hack by fans thats completed. Wow it was well made and using these sprites. Super well done and interesting new game to play. We need more like it.
Some of these mons still look better than some of the most recent gen's pokemon. Now adays at GameFreak: "Hey we're out of ideas for pokemon designs, what can we do?" " Let's make a pokemon out of inanimate objects!"
@@TheObsessiveGamer lol thats a good point. Just seems like pokemon such as Magnemite were way doper than pokemon like Klink or Honedge. My opinion though xD Just seems like they were more creative back in the day.
Timestamp 10:55 Someone messed up placing the Final version sprite for lanturn(?), as they placed it directly on top of the former evolution's Final version sprite; preventing a proper comparison of the first form. Timestamp 11:37 Another issue with sprite placement… instead of placing beta sprite for Giraffarig under it's beta art above it's name, the stuck it on top of the beta art for it's scrapped pre-evolution…
@@TheObsessiveGamer We all make mistakes; I was just pointing these out so you (and others) can learn from them. I do enjoy your channel's videos; I hope you and your team keep up the good work with the content~!
A lot of these are better designs than the Pokémon we got in the finished gold and silver. Warufuman is one of the cutest Pokémon I’ve ever seen and I think it eventually became snorunt but werewolf is a much better design than glalie. I think they’d have been the best dark/ice types. Cyndaquil used to be my first and favorite starter line but now I kind of prefer honoguma (it kind of looks like a bear-pikachu) since we didn’t get fire bears and I love dynabear. I also love the water starters more than the totodile line. Pokémon was always very good with plesiosaur designs like Lapras for water transport, and it’s just such a classic Pokémon feature. Ikari is so unique and so was jaggu from gen 1. Bomushika had such a useful water/fire typing. The third form of kotora actually looks very strong. Norowara and kyonpan may be too creepy but I can’t help but think they’re so cute. The dark cat Pokémon are so cute. Lost early Pokémon are so nostalgic it’s like looking deep into an unreleased classic Pokémon game (when the designers had more passion and got too successful to care about quality). Although maybe the johto Pokédex just got old for me after all these years. A lot of gen 2 Pokémon are some of the weakest ever made. Some have said they were rushed games but I think these unused designs just destroy newer generation Pokémon. Not to mention gen 2 were my first games and they had some of my favorites like suicune, Lugia, bayleef, tyranitar, sneasel, ampharos, lantern, wooper, raikou, girafarig (I prefer the original design), jumpluff, natu, heracross, typhlosion, skarmory, wobbuffet and lots more. Also other forms for gen 1 Pokémon like kingdra, politoed, steelix, scizor, and the cutest, pichu. But they also had absolute jokes of Pokémon like smeargle, delibird, dunsparce, aipom, shuckle (which I still love but I mean seriously, what the hell even are these?). Plus unown, the most powerful Pokémon of all time.
I have a physical copy of super gold 97, and as much as I loved gold and silver as a kid, this game would have been the best Pokémon offering we would have ever gotten
On the "Pinsir evolution became Heracross" Pinsir evo has the same arm structure as Heracross. Pinsir and Heracross have the same BST just like Scyther and Scizor Pinsir learns quite a few Fighting-type moves, and Heracross gained the Fighting-type. It's pretty obvious Heracross was at one point that Pinsir evo.
@@TheObsessiveGamer huh, weird. well the same designer who made pon de lion did work with gamefreak a few times in the mid nineties so i guess he just recycled the design after it was scrapped and not the other way around like a bunch of people(myself included) thought, haha. carry on!
Any idea where to find Kotora the as I call if, thunder-cat? Route 102???? I have been trying to find it before I get to the next / second rival battle if possible.....
Also, the 3 legendary beasts are meant to be cats - Raikou is a tiger, Entei is a lion and Suicune is supposed to be a Leopard (even though it very much looks like a wolf)
All of those scribbled 1999 leaked pokemon like Larvitar, Sunkern and Wobbuffet are that way because they made multiple designs for the mons but couldn't settle on one yet. The Larvitar design we know today was already completed for example, but they couldn't decide if it was supposed to look like that or a baby Tyranitar.
Well I did mention the Larvitar was potentially just an unfinished version of it. Possibly still there for a bit from an earlier build until they made its final sprite?
@@TheObsessiveGamer That wasn't the reason. Look up the gold and silver Cbb scratchpad sprites and you'll see what I meant with them being undecided on which take to follow.
People seem to forget that Madame *does* exist in some shape or form in modern Pokemon. Just look at Swanna. The connection exists right before our eyes.
Just cause Swanna is also based off a swan, doesn't mean that it's a reworked Madame. We have for example, multiple Pokemon based on pigeons, monkeys, and pigs. Doesn't mean they are connected however.
All of the legendary dogs look better as their 97 design. They actually look like dogs. Suicune (great dane/vizsla) and Entei's (Schnauzer) final designs are passable but Raikou is straight up feline. Suicune's '97 is a misunderstood emo feller.
Well, they aren't legendary dogs in the final, even tho they are known as that, they are legendary beasts (they ressemble more felynes in the final tho, I don't know how the dog thing comes to be)
Raikou is a saber-toothed tiger, Entei is a Red Fire Lion of Japanese mythology as seen ad nauseum in their pop culture, and Suicune is a spotted wildcat such as a leopard or cheetah...but with a bit of a horse face.
I'd be happy if next gen was a reset. Took all the previous gens cut content into consideration and started a new thing where all pokemon have regional differences. No new pokemon, just reworking of old. That alt evo of bellsprout looks to branch from the first form, and perhaps some region does have a rounder pichu.
Being what 7 or 8 when Pokemon Red and Blue came out I thought that you can evolve an evolution of Eevee there were so many rumors but piss me off it took so long for them to do it
Beta Gen 2 is the coolest thing ever! My favourite must be Wataneko or known as the beta form of Jumpluff. I do not know why they had to change the design for The Hoppip line as it was perfect as it is. A popular theory is that Beta hoppip looks too similar to Oddish. If they just changed Hoppip's colour then there would no need to alter the design for it. If they do some new forms or evolutions they could add some of the old designs in this Beta and improve the Pokémon world. Just my Opinion, thank you for reading and yep. Subbed to this Channel! Byee
Pheonix Fire 0 seconds ago Cool video and yeah, i think that shell was meant to be connected to slowbro and slowking, in some way.. Also, some of these look more like Digimon
I'm happy with most of the official stamped pkmn, especially with the legendary dogs 😂. However, I would've much preferred the 1997 nameeru over the current lickilicky that simply looks like you took a bike pump to lickitung then inflated it to the max.
Some of those pokémons should become regional variants, like octilerry, madame and delta garchomp. And some of those babys like baby meowth, tangela and parasect

@@TheObsessiveGamer Higher HP is the one stat it would get to keep, so seeing a drastic increase in that most of all would be pretty nice.
Well at least it gets metal coat
So many designs that deserve a second chance. Come on GameFreak
Well it is theorized that a lot of these are placeholder names, so possible
That lickitung Evo looked like it could have used the kings rock to evolve
ooh maybe? I believe in that leak it was still by level up, but might have been incomplete still at that time.
Anyone else think Kurusu up there might have given Game Freak an idea for the later Popplio line? Or Oshawatt's final evolution?
I was thinking that myself. Popplio would be the more logical one i'd think
I still wish Pokemon like Heracross or Pinsir had some sort of evolution or even baby versions
Both honestly deserve it and we need more stronger bug types
The Wobuffet prototype is really interesting. The Poke team sure did a lot of work just to cut them all later. Nice finds here! Excited for PT 2! (hope to see Imposter Prof. Oak)
Well if it did indeed become Wobbafett, then I guess not a true waste?
I wish Kyonpan made it back somehow. I really like the jiangshi crossed with a panda design. It’s pre evo can stay cut though if that was the problem.
I imagine the preevo could simply lose the nail and just look like some voodoo doll to make this work. I do hope they reintroduce it one day
@@TheObsessiveGamer Beta Legendary Doggos would be interesting if they brought back for lore purposes. Like what were the legendary beasts before they died and got reincarnated? Are they Johto region Pokemon that went extinct or are they from another region we haven’t been to yet?
@@DumuziTheOriginalGod Well there is that theory that the beasts were actually the Eeveelution but that's just a theory
Yeah that makes sense considering we got basically nothing till recently
Wish we got Taaban as it'd be cool to get it if you evolved your Slowpoke into Slowking similar to getting Shedninja and Ninjask from Nincada.
Thanks for the vid :)
Thanks! and that would near. Makes me wonder if the idea of Shedninja and Ninjask might have stemmed from this
It probably wouldn't have been very useful, but I think the Meowth pre-evolution would have been cute.
Norowara looks really good I wish they didn't cut it. I wonder what it's shiny would have looked like.
Maybe yellow made with hay?
Christ! There are so many good ones cut an so many of the beta versions look so much better than what we actually got. Seriously have to wonder wtf they were thinking.
Yeah a lot of unfortunate cuts. I do with they'd bring back some of these old 'mon for a later gen
I like to think Ditto's evolution may have worked like the imposter ability, or simply would have had higher stats when transformed.
I watched this on my tv first and it looks so good! So many great visuals. Really glad you covered this topic. I think by separating the 97 and 99 leaks you made the content fresh.
Thank you! glad you got to enjoy it a big screen at that. Yeah I felt it should be seperated to better explain these
The original designs for The Legendary Dogs could be the last of their kind, but after being revived by Ho-Oh, transform into their current forms. Maybe they'll show up if Pokémon Legends Johto ever happens one day.
I do think that one is more a theory as to their origins? Unless I am missing something?
@@TheObsessiveGamer Yeah, just an idea I had if Game Freak were to use the old designs in some way.
Fun Fact: As for Mademe, It may have inspired Sirfetched for Sword/Shield and Swanna for Black and White, Black 2 and White 2
Actually they did confirm that Sirfetch'd wasn't inspired by Madame in an interview a while ago.
I’ve been looking for videos that compile Pokémon cut content into a singular or short digestible series and I’m just surprised I didn’t find you sooner. For a long time I just found stupid shorts-only channels that give you like 2 or 3 tidbits at a time. You earned by sub, thank you much.
If Bomushika never got cut, that thing would *definitely* have Pyro Ball in Gen 8
Man what a missed opportunity lol
Madame was actually shown to be both male and female in the Space World Demo! It's not really odd, considering Mr. Mime can be male and female as well. Despite having "Mister" in its name.
Ah didn't know that one. Thanks!
I'd love to see them revisit some of these cut ones, especially the pre-evolutions or alternate routes in a new game.
The 1999 demo had so many crudely done placeholders. I love it.
Pokemon Gen 2 are the games that keeps on giving!
I really had no idea that there were a lot of cut pokemon from that generation!
I wonder what would happen if they released these in an alternate timeline! Interesting... :)
Well we'd have a superior Wooper for one if they did lol. I really think they could take all these cut pokemon and make a whole generation out of them if they really wanted to
@@TheObsessiveGamer That would be cool!
Wish they didn't cut the Nail/Kyonpan Evolution.
Very much this
i played the hack by fans thats completed. Wow it was well made and using these sprites. Super well done and interesting new game to play. We need more like it.
Yeah it's a very good rom, I did a playthrough of it.
Some of these mons still look better than some of the most recent gen's pokemon.
Now adays at GameFreak:
"Hey we're out of ideas for pokemon designs, what can we do?"
" Let's make a pokemon out of inanimate objects!"
I mean they did that back then too such as magnets lol
@@TheObsessiveGamer lol thats a good point. Just seems like pokemon such as Magnemite were way doper than pokemon like Klink or Honedge. My opinion though xD Just seems like they were more creative back in the day.
Timestamp 10:55
Someone messed up placing the Final version sprite for lanturn(?), as they placed it directly on top of the former evolution's Final version sprite; preventing a proper comparison of the first form.
Timestamp 11:37
Another issue with sprite placement… instead of placing beta sprite for Giraffarig under it's beta art above it's name, the stuck it on top of the beta art for it's scrapped pre-evolution…
Note to self on not editing at 3am in the morning again lol. Will plan to be more careful next time
@@TheObsessiveGamer
We all make mistakes; I was just pointing these out so you (and others) can learn from them.
I do enjoy your channel's videos; I hope you and your team keep up the good work with the content~!
Great job on this dude I have seen a few videos on this topic but I think this is my favorite.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed that much!
Hitmontop looked badass you have outdone yourself SIR. 💪👊
Imposter Oak, huh? Now the existence of that Pokémon trainer card makes more sense
My first thought. I am hoping to do a video on him at some point
I still need that Pinsir evolution as an alternative to Mega Pinsir; wonder if it will show up someday.
Hopefully. If Meowth could get that made different forms, why not Pinsir?
The original Sneasel looks like Mienfoo.
Great video! Really interesting 🤔💜 makes me wanna play gen2 again
Considering both Sneasel and Mienfoo are from the same species, I can see the similarities.
Thank you very much!
Qwilfishs’ evolution was later used as Whishcash but I guess redesigned as a Catfish. They both have that lightning bolt on their forehead.
Is there is a source on this one? I know it's a theory but haven't heard GameFreak confirm it
@@TheObsessiveGamer no but I mean, just look
On the "Pinsir evolution became Heracross"
Pinsir evo has the same arm structure as Heracross.
Pinsir and Heracross have the same BST just like Scyther and Scizor
Pinsir learns quite a few Fighting-type moves, and Heracross gained the Fighting-type.
It's pretty obvious Heracross was at one point that Pinsir evo.
Heracross and Purakussu actually co existed in several builds.
porygon's original form probably had to be changed because of copyright. it bears a strong resemblance to pon de lion the mister donut mascot
Actually Pon De Lion's mascot was made in 2004. There would be no copyright issues at that point.
@@TheObsessiveGamer huh, weird. well the same designer who made pon de lion did work with gamefreak a few times in the mid nineties so i guess he just recycled the design after it was scrapped and not the other way around like a bunch of people(myself included) thought, haha. carry on!
@@technopoptart anyway.good thing that abomination never made it out of the beta phase
Why does the 1999 pichu at 9:42 literally look like the pikachu meme omg
Me: *Pikachu shock face* at this
Most of these cut pokemon and models were so much cooler.
Animon was theorized to have transformed into a Steel type version of the opponent's Pokémon.
Yeah that would make sense and would fit my theory of it being not finished here afterall
Personally the unused colors and designs for Maril would make a really cool regional variation!
Any idea where to find Kotora the as I call if, thunder-cat? Route 102???? I have been trying to find it before I get to the next / second rival battle if possible.....
I really want baby meowth and the bell cats.
Still hoping it might happen one day
Also, the 3 legendary beasts are meant to be cats - Raikou is a tiger, Entei is a lion and Suicune is supposed to be a Leopard (even though it very much looks like a wolf)
Madame(farfetch'd 's evo) could be used as a madador duck
There are many Pokemon in the spaceworld beta that deserve a comeback. The original Girafarig being one of them.
Would be a neat split evolution if they make the pre-evo a thing
Beta Noctowl is literally the raddest design ever idk why they scrapped it
Some of these are questionable why (like Beta Wooper), but I guess artistic choice lol
I think they wanted to avoid releasing a new Pokémon that looked like Pidgey but owl.
Baby Tyrogue looks like it had some design connection to Spinda with the ears
Maybe an inspiration?
People seem to forget that Madame *does* exist in some shape or form in modern Pokemon.
Just look at Swanna. The connection exists right before our eyes.
Just cause Swanna is also based off a swan, doesn't mean that it's a reworked Madame. We have for example, multiple Pokemon based on pigeons, monkeys, and pigs. Doesn't mean they are connected however.
Beta Remoraid is meant to be a revolver, I think.
Yeah it is indeed to fit the tank design of beta Octillary
All of the legendary dogs look better as their 97 design. They actually look like dogs. Suicune (great dane/vizsla) and Entei's (Schnauzer) final designs are passable but Raikou is straight up feline.
Suicune's '97 is a misunderstood emo feller.
I do like these designs more, but I kinda get why they may have redone them as they wanted tougher 'mons to represent them?
Yeah they can make a whole dex with just cut Pokemon if they really wanted to. Here's hoping they do one day lol
My favorite generation, so this the 1997 leak was a big deal... I didn't know about the 1999 leak though or creepy Celebi XD
Yeah 1999 is a bit obscure. I plan to do a part 2 on what is an even stranger leak relating to all this too
I absolutely adore the -97 hoppip line ;__;
Especially love the Skiploom
All these designs look 100times better than anything they came up with here lately
Most of them look better than the ones they actually put into Gold an Silver.
All 3 Tora tigers would have made welcome additions to shore up the relatively anemic rosters of the last 3 Gens.
Honestly I do really love a lot of these designs, but I wish they would at least get reused for later gens
Being what 7 or 8 when Pokemon Red and Blue came out I thought that you can evolve an evolution of Eevee there were so many rumors but piss me off it took so long for them to do it
With the scrapped Qwilfish evolution you forgot to mention Overqwil
So many of these Pokémon are so cool fffff
They could make a Porygon B easily, have it evolve with a beta disc and have it be a more physical mon.
heh I like that name to this. Would be a neat split evolution
Byee

Cool video and yeah, i think that shell was meant to be connected to slowbro and slowking, in some way.. Also, some of these look more like Digimon
The graphical assets looked better in the demo, I don’t know why they eschewed it for the stuff we have today.
I’m Starting to see Hoothoot and Ledyba as Counterparts.
Really wish we get the cut betas for Gen 3. Who knows what cut pokemon can reveal to us.
Yeah, still hoping we might. Though maybe it'd be like Gen 4 where it was mainly just beta designs
@@TheObsessiveGamer true that. When can the next hack happen again?

wait.i thought that was always the official design for octillery
mandela effect moment.
I’m mad that they changed lickylicky from being kinda cute to the monstrosity that it is today. Who thought that the final design was better?????
Killing Nameru was a missed opportunity for the anime.
Rinrin, a dark cat pokemon I'd actually want versus purrloin...
Octillery reminds me of the octopus from that Game & Watch game.
Theres our true oldest Pokemon lol
I love the Shark.
Beta Wooper is now my favorite pokemon on design alone.
It is very precious :3
I wish we got this Porygon2. It's so cute
I love Pangshi/Kyonpan.

Rinrin's loss still hurts

Hoping it does return one day
Um, I'm gonna need that beta Quagsire.
What about the Beta Wooper? :P
@@TheObsessiveGamer Absolutely. I'm gonna need all of them.
I'm happy with most of the official stamped pkmn, especially with the legendary dogs 😂. However, I would've much preferred the 1997 nameeru over the current lickilicky that simply looks like you took a bike pump to lickitung then inflated it to the max.
been playing Pokemon for 20 years and never noticed that Xatu has a face on its chest
Yeah it's I guess a bit more apparent in the old pixel art for him, but always was there
Some of those pokémons should become regional variants, like octilerry, madame and delta garchomp. And some of those babys like baby meowth, tangela and parasect
Ooh yeah indeed they should. This would also mean we'd actually go beyond Gen 1 variants for a change lol
