  • Cole the English Springer Spaniel hasn't been feeling so well lately so we took him to the vet to get checked over. We worried that something was wrong or failing. Turns out his arthritis in his back was bothering him. We tried Metacam and Gabapentin but they both seemed to make him sleepy. So our vet recommended we try this once-a-month shot medication called Librela. Librela is a drug for the alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. The medication contains a canine monoclonal antibody (mAb) which targets nerve growth factor (NGF). This inhibits NGF-mediated cell signaling which can provide relief from pain associated with osteoarthritis.
Come and see how Cole is doing after his first shot!

My boxer cross was really becoming quite distressed we had her on medicam and youmove maximum strange but we notice she was still holding up her paw. We then discussed with the vet about librela she has had her 2nd injection and due her 3rd next week. It is like a miracle she is running around and is very active. i did read a lot of very negative stories on facebook but i had sort of run out of options but i am so delighted. She is very active and i feel she is not in pain. I would encourage people to try it but i do know that it does not work for every dog but the key is to get them on it as quickly as possible I am really happy for Cole he will feel a lot better after the next injection.

Poor Cole!!! So glad there's a new solution for pain control now. Here in the US there are laser treatments for orthopedic pain that help.

I waited so long for this to drop in the US and it finally did. My 12 year old cockapoo had her shot last week and is already (!!) showing significant signs of improvement. Doing downward dog stretching which she completely stopped doing for over a year, running towards her ball, jumping down off my bed. This stuff was unheard of, even with gabapentin and meloxicam always on board. Everyone I've spoken to who has their dog on Librela has said it has done wonders.

We have been noticing a bit of a decline at the end of week 2. He had a bad day or two but still seems to be doing better than before. We are looking forward to his next shot.

Thanks for posting this! If Beo gets walking again, we're going to try the Librela shot too for him.

Such beautiful dogs. We were forced to say goodbye to our last springer just before Covid hit. I'm hoping to change that next year. But in the mean time, you're giving me my springer fix!

I saw an 80% improvement after the 1st week on Librela for my Wheaton Terrior. He was back to playing & doing things I haven't seen him do in a few months! He goes for shot #2 in 2 days. At 12 years old, I'm trying to make his final years good!

@@emberandcolesenglishspringersAwesome!!Thank you! In November, I started to look into final arrangements if things didn't improve. Luckily where I'm at in the US, my vet just got Liberala a month earlier & asked if I wanted to try it. I'm only the 2nd person to have this opportunity, so I went for it. I still have to carry him up the stairs but hopefully that will also get better!

@@jamie-r2034 we still have to lift him on the bed but overall he seems to be happier and in a lot less pain.

@@emberandcolesenglishspringers That's so great! I'd e glad to still carrying him up steps or on our couch if he can just enjoy life as he should. I'm so glad this has helped you as well!!! :)

Hi - hope Cole will continue to improve. Our elderly Collie, Sam, is getting his 2nd shot on Thursday. He's also taking Galliprant, 1 tab daily. It will be interesting to see how they both feel after their 3rd shots.

Please update, so many contradictory reports and it sounds like most stroke like symptoms occur at the 3 month mark. Could you make a new video please?

This is our latest video. So far so good, I am crossing my fingers that nothing bad happens as I have no other option for pain medication for Cole. ua-cam.com/video/xRMB1OkdbAI/v-deo.htmlsi=Ab2fnyaI3Mpu3qFd
