It DOES matter what kind of tape you use. Masking tape is good, but DON'T USE DUCT TAPE or anything so strong it'll leave residue for you to clean up...
Does it matter what acrylic paint we use? Could I just go to walmart or hobby lobby & get some to use from there?
LeaderOfWolves it doesn’t I think
found that to be true i useD duct tape and when I was done spray painting my shoe I took off the tape and the stupid tape ripped off the paint job lmao
@@Dan0rioN it definitely matters, you need angelus or jacquard paint mixed with angelus too hard.
@@ClassyGyal u don't need 2 hard
Love the background music making me sleepy
Real painter here. Ya'll should try using frog tape. It's has lock edge technology to prevent paint from bleeding under the tape.
I just got some Jordan 6 ‘Washed Denim’ (2019) and need to repaint the midsole a bit, will be using this tip. Thank you🤟🏾
you will get your most experience from trial and error, the best advice ever!
Freakin Awesome Video. Didn’t have AJ 4’s but actually Adidas Forums that has a huge scuff on it and this process worked perfectly the same. Proves how versatile this method n’ princess is. Great content!
Don't use white masking tape, and don't use a sharp x-acto blade to push down the tape accurately. Use painters tape and use a fine spudger for that.
You had to do more touch ups because of using the wrong materials.
yeah he was doing some straight up foolish shit!!!!
To avoid midsole damage don’t use acetone or any chemicals aim for all natural and then acetone is last resort. And if anyone wants to learn how to fix midsoles damage I have a video on correcting that.
SalTheSneakerHead Specifically what all-natural product would you suggest?
B Scott all natural is scraping it off. There’s no other chemicals that are natural aka chemical free boss
SalTheSneakerHead haha true true
Going to check out your video now.👍
SalTheSneakerHead use alcohol ?
Use acentone(nail polish remover), paint stripper may disolve your soles. Always seap the finished paint with a clear sealer too. Acentone is good for cleaning up messing paint edges too from factory.
Just to be clear, you said acetone works for cleaning up painting mistakes from the factory? I got some new kicks and they got some paint on the white sole😖.
@@airhair5004 yeah just nail polish remover. A little on a cue tip and rub until you get the tesult you want. It strips paint, wont affect the rubber or foam. Can also get a "natural rubber shoe eraser" ( a stick of amber natural rubber) to rub off excess glue or skid marks.
Awesome...I'm getting my Columbia 4s tomorrow...need to redo the midsole....thank you bro..
how did it go ?
Best video of shoe repainting i seen barz
I was stumped on what to do about the paint by the uppers until I found your video. Thanks!
Thanks a lot. I’m a total beginner and this is what I need to see.
Best tutorial i've watched so far
Bradford Davis thanks bro! I appreciate it!
There are some tapes, such as the painters blue tape or Frog Tape which is actually designed to minimize leaking, as opposed to just standard masking tape.
LMFAO “Shaquille O’Neal freethow jump shot” 😭😭😭
Thanks for the great video and the information is very clear and easy to understand Im trying to learn to do this but don't want to mess up my shoes
Thanks for the upload dude. Not a jordan person myself but this going to help me out a lot.
That was a great and simple explanation. Thank you this will help as I am going to try this on some old Vans.
You should wear a mask and have really good ventilation when working with acetone (nail polish remover).
It's hard to just dip the tip when you want to start stroking away!
Facts
this rlly helped me for my upcoming buisness on sneakers SDsoles.
does it matter what type of paint you use for each jordan? Obviously you need the right color but what TYPE of paint do we need?
Bro when you showed the very little flaws after the paint job it gave me flash backs to how many times I had to do touch ups after paint jobs, suuuuper annoying 😭
Looks great to me… I’ll be restoring my Jordan 1’s Red black and white
thanks god u have this repaint tutorial im looking for this for hrs
When you get all the materials and things to use but your just ass at painting and find a way to mess it up (a.k.a me)
does the paint say Angelus black acrylic leather paint?
How long after you paint it do you apply Matte Finish, and how long after you apply that can you start wearing them?
Logan I worked at Mt Hood ski bowl lol night time was the best
1. Just use Xylene instead oo paint stripper.
2. Use a shot of acetone to clean any possible oily residues from the xylene.
3. PLEASE don't use krylon as clearcoats since it's not flexible.. If your main goal is to be hated for selling shoes that will crack after 2 weeks, then, go for it..
You can also scratch off the old paint with a screwdriver it is alot faster
Lol since you're such a good painter, hook dad up and repaint that peeling fascia board 😂😂
Thanks so much for the video 🙌
Great video, I wish I had seen this in high school
I allways wonder how your shoes get so dirty when your outsole is still ok. I mean the first thing that goes in my shoes are outsole.
I like your videos. Very comprehensive. One thing... Why are you wearing gloves for acetone? I use acetone as an antiseptic at work lol
Cause he wants to.
Ikr he pussi
That's pretty awesome. Need to do my 3's. This was really helpful. Did you juat use basic acrylic paint.
Great tutorial! Seems like a lot of work. How much do you charge for this? I have a customer who wants custom cleats but I don't know how much to charge??
Thanks! I would say for what I did about $50 but if you’re inexperienced then closer to around $30
Goings Kicks Ok cool, thanks for the reply!
Cool vid, very informative. 🤠🇺🇸
dude i need a paint recommendation on my true blue 3s
Angelus has a paint color called True Blue and is recommended for the True Blue 3.
Also if you mix a little dark blue and white angelus you should get the perfect color
Is the regular black or white glossy? And is the flat black or flat white really flat? Debating between flat paint or regular paint... great video btw
Edward Duque I used both flat black and white. Make sure you prep the areas to be painted. I used rubbing alcohol to really give it a good clean after stripping the paint. Use light coats and spread evenly. I use Krylon matte finish. 2 light passes. Let it dry between passes, 6-8 inches from the shoes. I didn’t have any issues with cracking or peeling from wearing them.
Just wondering shouldn't you have resanded the excess white paint u got on midsole before going to black?? @8:50 u can a texture or ridges on black paint ?
No angelus 2-hard?
Hi, Unfortunately i stumbled across this video abit too late as I already started my repaint (3-5 coats in) and then realized the color was a bit too dark, How do i make it lighter and fix this mistake or do i have to fully restart the process
ok my problem is even when you use the finisher after a month or so the paint will crack. never heard of rubber paint because it doesnt exist. for now i leave my shoes in the closet. angelus paint doesnt work for me, the leather parts are fine but its not flexible and doesnt bond to rubber for the midsole.
That jump man on the tongue tho 😂😂 great shoe to practice on good job
Flat black or regular black paint?
Did you have to take off all the black paint just to add black on it? Couldn’t you just paint black over it?
Pleas respond!!!! Im restoring these shoes as well but mines are from 2012 and the black paint bleed through the tape and the residue is on the leather part of the shoe can you please help me remove the residue from my shoes!
Do I have to use a paint stripper or is there a manual way to remove the cracked paint?
what is that Angies paint you have there? what black and white?? thank you
Crazy you’re repairing the same shoes i got in the same spot lmaoo
me too lmao
Same bruh
How well does this hold up when wearing the shoes? Most other videos I’ve seen they say don’t paint the mid soles cuz it will never bond good and peel or crack.
Not true you use a coating finish that protects the pain. I've repainted jordans with Angelus and then washed them and had no peeling
@@jordan6058 what type of angelus paint do u recommend for pure money midsole ?
@@Gloyps looking like a flat white with some 2 hard mixture imo but yeah
Did the paint faded or cracked evetually?
May I know if using a hair dryer would be the same as the heat gun?
Yes.
can I just paint over it? a little of the paint came off on some 2012 air max 90s I found that I want to restore
I just got a set to repaint my Jordan 4s too and am struggling but when he does it it makes it seem soo easy. I am having strict problems when I paint it it isn’t painting over what is there or scuffs that are there is that because I need to scrap more paint off? What am I doing wrong?
Need help, i do that but after 1 week the paint is already taking of , what i need to do?
Dope vid bro they came out really good. Im about to do my bred 4s i hope i do good lol.
Oscar Medrano thanks you can do it!
Oscar Medrano thanks you can do it!
Maaaan i have to do my bred 4's to
Do you do this as a business? I have these exact same shoes and need someone to repaint my mid soles I dropped 360 on em and need em fixed!!
Does it lower the value if you paint?
Hi, I was watching your videos on UA-cam and I was wondering if I send you a pair of dub-zeros if you could restore them and make a video on them, I love this shoe but the sole came off and needs paint, please help me so I can rock them again 💯👍
That Shaq reference made me lol
I would have repaint after every single wear. Bump that. Just put em on the shelf like art.
Will black nail polish work 😂 in same spot
What type of paint is there for shoes is there a specific type of paint just for shoes or whatever if anyone can answer and help me out would be great I have some hot that are in ok shape but the outer part of the soles can use some paint. Not really bad but definitely could use a once ovy or what y want to call it but I've never done this type of thing before so any tips would be lots of help but I'm try my hand at it soon and see how it goes but how do I find or tell what the color is exactly I need to use for the black in the outer edges of the soles thanks a bunch every one again any help would be great 👍
About to redo some 09 Spiz’ikes. Thanks for the great video
Well after 3 years, how did it go?
@@joaquinespinoza2371 yeah would like to know too
does the finish you use not leave a shiny look or is it a factory look?
Thanks for the great vid
May i ask the name of that last part you sprayed pls.
Acetone absolutely DESTROYED the midsoles on my fire red. The material they used for these shoes wasn’t acetone friendly
Can you send me the link for alll the paints you used
looks 100% better
Can I use sharpie paint marker or normal acrylic paint on stan smith midsole
Can a nail polish remover work?
hey bro my unc 3s heel tab started getting blue stains probably from jean dye rubbing on it, whats an effective fix for this?
I bought some of these deadstock, I wore them once and paint started chipping fuck me, now I’m here wish me luck y’all
can acetone work to get the paint off?
Nice work.
Hi what paint do you recommend for midsole material
Angelus shoe leather paint
Ok thanks
Pure Comedy Gold if you’re as immature as me starting at 7:31 💀😂
What paint did you use?
Any tips for using an air brush to restore the midsole
So the front part of my shoe is actually tearing from the main shoe how do you fix that
I’m in Salem Oregon. Who can I pay to get my Ultraboost’s mid-soles all white?
Which paint is that?
im trying to restorish some cement 4s but the midsole part is scratched up bad how do i fix that in order for the paint to look smooth and natural
when you buy angelus paint, how big of a jar do you buy
I'm doing this with my Jordan 4 Bred (first time), any tips?
Chris Chang Good luck
Just do it
How long does the paint take to dry without a heat gun
How long should I wait for paint to dry until I get apply matte finish
Should've taped the air bubble before the protective coat
Listening to you was hard lol but it was a good video lol
So I'm restoring the exact pair of shoes and i dont cake on the krylon finisher but the white still cracks? Any tips?
I painted a couple guitar bodies with Krylon. The first came out good. The second years later had spider cracks when curing. I found doing some research that Krylon changed their formulation between the first and second project. Might be your issue.
What’s wrong with the Angulus clear coat stuff ?
Your the man. Much love from richmond.
bay area or virginia?
What’s size paint brush do you use
Boss man - would I get terrible results if I do not remove factory paint?
Gian de Guzman sometimes if the chipping is VERY minimal you can paint over it, but 99% of the time you need to take off the factory paint to get good results
What do I put on first sole bright or the white leather paint ?
You literally only got a subscribe from me cause you said “no you don’t need a mop that’s just my luscious hair” 😂
😐
