  • First Impressions of BGC Manila - What do Tourists Think?
Walking through Bonifacio Global City was like walking through New York's 5th Avenue. High end shops, luxurious apartments and a multitude of restaurants to chose from.
We ended up at Chow King though :p (which was also incredible).
Fancy a luxury stay in Manila? Stay here in BGC!

This is expected to help decongest NCR. I'm rather pessimistic... Only rich folks can afford to buy property in New Clark City(NCC), & most folks in NCR are poor. Besides, not all 'rich' Manilans are willing to move. This might end up as a ghost city.. unless KADAMAY takes over.
Now some say.."ah but look at BGC - it is doing well, so why wouldn't NCC?". Yes, that's true, but we should remember that BGC is within NCR; hence it is easy to attract Metro Manilans to live & do business in it. NCC, however.. is a different story: *they are building it in the middle of no where.*

There is great scenery there- a majectic Lake! If you love nature, this is best recommended. You should take a bus to go there which is cheaper.

SM malls are just typical indoor malls. Go to Greenbelt in Makati. It’s close to where you’re staying. You can walk there. It’s not a typical mall at all. It feels like a park surrounded by nice stores and restaurants. It’s such a busy vibrant and beautiful area. There’s also the Ayala Museum right there, so you can learn all about the history of the Philippines. Also go to Ayala Triangle it’s close by. You havent seen the nice parts of Makati yet.

If you have not been to a University a size of like a small City, I recommend visiting the UNiversity of the Philippins Diliman in Quezon City. It is like a University in a Jungle. Once you are in UPDiliman try some food like the Mang Larry's Isaw , Snack Shack Burgers, and Art Circle cafe. Try also Caution Hot (a spicy noodle house) and Provenciano (traditional Filipino Restaurant) in Maginhawa Street near UPDiliman. You will enjoy the pop culture in this Place. The university has also a mall the U.P. Town Center managed by the Ayala Corp.

sm mall of asia is nothing but a big mall, you see one mall youve seen them all, it’s unfortunate that many filipinos have relegated the philippine cultural experience as simply visiting a mall....
if u go to mall of asia, enjoy the outdoor area which is still being developed, the only indoor attraction inside mall of asia is the galleon museum, other than that, it’s simply a mall...but it’s by manila bay so that’s at least the best mall location in manila...visit luneta hotel and the newly restored army/navy club rizal park hotel in order to get the feeling of pre-war manila, these structures are only a few minutes away from mall of asia, take a taxi, mall of asia outdoors is still way too big and figuratively speaking barren compared to bgc which is built for pedestrians to enjoy the outdoor experience, you can take a boat cruise and eat dinner or lunch at bay to enjoy the view of the city, thats about it....DO NOT SPEND YOUR TIME INSIDE A MALL :) i hate malls, i find them as museums for the mindless...intramuros is waiting to be rehabilitated...PLS SEND A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT to focus on the complete reconstruction of intramuros (give your input or recommendations how to improve or develop intramuros to attract more tourists), filipino govt tend to listen to foreigners’ observation rather than their own local voices, a good example of this is when a foreigner complained about how horrible our airports are, next thing u know the govt took action....thank u and please be as critical as u can, when foreigners complain
    , filipinos listen :)

Exactly! Preach my friend! We Filipinos need a cultural renaissance if we want to preserve what is left of pre-war Manila. Even Intramuros is tainted by buildings with modern architecture.

Hey guys, BGC or Bonifacio Global City is located in Taguig, a city outside of Manila. Just like Makati also another city outside of the City of Manila. Makati City is the financial center of the country. Taguig City where BGC is located an extension of Makati. I know you guys are on budget, but if you have the time get out of the city and go to other places in Luzon and I'm pretty sure you will enjoy. Try going up north of Luzon like Baguio City, the summer capital the up further up to Sacada famous for the vegie fields ang Banaue, the site of the famous rice terreces the 7th wonder of the world. You guys can take the bus to Baguio City and from there go anywhere in the north

Try to visit Taytay market , it is where they sell highly affordable clothes . It is actually known as Taytay Tyangge. I also recommend Pinto Art Museum, it is located in Antipolo just before you reach Onciano Hospital.

Personally I think SM Mall of Asia isn't a must-go, considering you have just been to SM Aura, which in some ways is better IMO (it's just another SM mall). If you're into malls, which I'm guessing you're probably not (?), there's a unique place called Venice Grand Canal Mall in nearby McKinley. It has a miniature indoor version of the Grand Canal in Venice right inside the mall.
I also prefer Greenbelt over Mall of Asia; it's just a 10-15min walk away from Poblacion. But then again it's still just another mall, except by a different developer so they have a different layout and different stores/restaurants. It's more of a high budget mall compared to SM malls. For me, walking around Greenbelt feels like walking around BGC but indoors -- 90% of the places are over my budget :(
To add diversity, try the Salcedo Saturday Market. The food places there are more dense and mostly within budget. Then you can do a bar crawl along Poblacion area which is another type of experience, though its going to be more expensive. You might want to get advice from the locals and other backpackers which places are the best.

Try exploring Lungsod Quezon. They have BGC like developments there such as Araneta Center, Eastwood, Quezon Triangles Business District and Fairview Novaliches. It is also the greenest part of Metro Manila. It has wide parks such as Quezon Memorial Park and the La Mesa Eco Park.

If you guys want to explore shopping, my personal favourite is Greenhills Shopping Centre in San Juan. It has flea markets, tech stores, geek toy/comic book shops and is also a place to get "replicas" of your favourite luxury brands :-P

Bonifacio High Street is more or less patterned after the high streets in the UK where you find posh stores and restaurants. You can try out the Eye in Mall of Asia.

BGC is fully alive at night. You can visit the Mercato market at the Fort, so many delicious local foods to choose from.
SM Mall of Asia is like the 4th or 7th in the world. The largest in the Philippines is SM North Edsa followed by SM Megamall

Very good analysis ladies.. I’m a Makati resident since birth & I love Makati compared to BGC. It’s more central, more diverse, and more accessible. It caters to all types of people regardless what your budget is.. BGC lifestyle would definitely be more posh & luxurious..
Anyway, try to visit Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. It’s turning out to be the Makati of the South but less crowded & less polluted. And the development overall is even greener & the buildings are midrise.. but you’d still get the balance of urbanism & nature at the same time. It really is a perfect example of a suburban development to be followed for the future..
