This comment hits home for me. It's been such an evolution and I'm glad I get to share it with everyone. If it weren't for you guys, this car wouldn't be what it is today!
Making me want a murdered out 135i. N54 manuals are becoming rather scarce here is South Africa.Lile guys that have em won't part with em! Anyway, great inspiration you are bro. Love what you doing.
👍 for Eileen, also if you find that the hood “pushes up” on the sides near where the hood struts mount(usually happens over time, it bows the hood) just delete them. Plus it’s a couple pound weight save. I kept one installed on the car and could pop it in when I need the hood propped. I had that experience on a carbon hood before
Looks super sick!!! That hood fitment is spot on. For future reference if useful... when I drill carbon fiber or fiberglass its always messy, so I usually have someone hold a vacuum near where I'm drilling so it picks up all the shavings/dust right away, just less to clean up afterwards.... Looking forward to the trunk install!
You sir, have very good taste (and your 1 series looks great too ;-) ... I purchased a Jet Black 2008 135i just a few days ago so I was ecstatic to see your videos detailing the progression towards a balanced 135i / 1M OEM-ish look...and kudos to your approach and video style. I feel inspired to begin logging my upgrade/conversion plan onto UA-cam...but till then. Subscribed and looking forward to more.
Awesome! Thanks for watching. I'd love to see other BMW guys start documenting their builds on UA-cam. Good luck with your progression, you'll fall in love with these cars.
Hey Jake, I would highly recommend at least getting the hood and trunk lid ceramic coated. If you would like to even go a step further, spray the hood and trunk lid with some clear coat. Most carbon products are coated with a gel coat that will fade over time.
@@jake_spence Ceramic coat would definitely help! Carbon gets cloudy over time due to UV Damage. If you keep it in the Garage mostly, ceramic coat should be fine.
Besides the hood, how else can you save weight at the FRONT of the 135i? There are several useless brackets & plastic things in the engine bay I found but is there anything else cheap left? Carbon cross braces instead of the factory metal?
Hey. 135i looks great. I have an e88. I want to get the hood and the head lights you have. Where did you get the head lights? I’m not sure if you still have yours. But it looks great.
Jake... I have to say that your 1er is gorgeous. To be quite honest, it’s how I want mine to turn out when I have the capital! I was curious as to how you were able to raise the hood to be level with the top of your side fenders? I have the same hood, but for some reason my hood sits lower, so I feel like I’ve done something wrong
I'm not gonna lie, it took a lot of adjusting off camera to get it to sit the way it did. Adjusting bolts, mounts, latches, etc. And then I took it to the 1/2 mile and did 170mph runs back-to-back and it tweaked the hood because I didn't have the hood pins installed yet. I'd just play around with all the joint locations and make small tweaks one at a time.
I'm going to be careful with the weather. I still have most of my cowl and an engine cover so I'm not too worried. But I wouldn't want to go out in a monsoon either lol.
@@jake_spence Someday I will buy the same car and in the same color, with the same goal as you ..... make it beautiful, where do you buy all the pieces for the exterior?
Thank you for the support Jake Spence, once again we are glad you you let us be apart of your build!
I appreciate the support! You've got a life-long customer here 😀

Buddy this thing is looking unreal. What a treat to watch it over the years.

Best looking 135 Forsure 🥳🥳
That's quite the compliment! Thank you 🙏
By far the best lookin 135 I’ve seen.
Thank you!

Good to know! I'll keep an eye on it. So far one strut is working good.

Good point on the vacuum! Trunk install will be next, stay tuned!
Wow jake. Looks amazing Jake. This is a quality product. I can tell because I worked for 3 years in a carbon/glass fiber factory! Dutch regards, Nico
Awesome to hear this from you! I'm no body guy, but it exceeded my standards. Glad you enjoy it as much as I do!

Awesome! Thanks for watching and enjoy your new 135i!
Brooo ur car is gorgeous
Thanks Oscar!

I've had a few people tell me this now. Do you think ceramic coating would protect it just as good as clear coat? If so, I'd go that route.
@@jake_spence Ceramic coat would definitely help! Carbon gets cloudy over time due to UV Damage. If you keep it in the Garage mostly, ceramic coat should be fine.
@@jake_spence baddest Bimmer in the Valley. Hey I can get you hooked up with the Ceramic Coating. Let me know.
Now, carbon front lip should be a must, and 1M mirrors!!
I'm worried I'll destroy the carbon fiber lip! But I definitely agree on 1M mirrors... gotta find a set of those!
Great content as always Jake! 👍 Congrats on your engagement as well
Thank you! I appreciate the support.
Car is looking so good man
Thank you!
Your setup looks clean Bro!
Thanks Steven!
Clean but we usually shave down emblem and just use good 3m tape
Have you considered doing the 1M rear quarters? Lot of welding involved but would look great
Yes, I would love to do the true conversion. Maybe one day!
I love the garage, love the car, and I love the chemistry. Subscribed!
Welcome aboard! Thanks 🙏
Another awesome vid man. Good job! I love the look of carbon fiber on black 🙌🏼
Thanks! And I agree, usually CF sticks out too much but on black it blends in nicely.
2 vids a week will burn through those videos 👀
Bro it looks wicked . I wanna do it to mine too. Wicked headlights u have
I wish i could afford this hood i would definetly pick one up for my 09 135i
Keep saving! It's worth it.
Idk why but i just love the gold brembos 💯👌🏽
You car literally inspires me to do the same mods! 👌🏽
Do it! Thanks for watching.
Heck yeah it's looking great!
Thank you! 🤘
Jake did you modify your stock cowl? If so, Can you do a video and show us what you did?
Yes I did, and I'll be doing the same to the 335i. Stay tuned for that video in the future!
The hood is perfect !!!!
Agreed! I'm so happy with it.
did you ever make another video on installing the hood pins? i just ordered that same carbon hood and hood pins.
Looking good but its been bad ass for a long time! Hint hint, when we going to get some 335 content?
Thanks Peter! 335i content is coming... just trying to release all the 135i stuff I have filmed first.
Did you ever make a video of the quick latch install?
Sick! 😎👍 Barr carbon FTW!
😎

What turbo you running and engine mods bro? Props for doing the engine first then the styling
Thanks! It's a 6266 turbo with a stock motor. Doc Race intake manifold.

Car looks great we’re did you get the bonnet and bumper and headlights from ?
Bonnet: coloradon5x.com/products/bmw-e82-m-style-vented-carbon-fiber-hood
The headlights are custom-made. Can't buy them as is.
Thing is looking tight. Any worry about water going into the hood vents and messing anything up or is this a good weather only car?
I'm going to be careful with the weather. I still have most of my cowl and an engine cover so I'm not too worried. But I wouldn't want to go out in a monsoon either lol.
Great video dude. Is this the exact same with the M3 hood?
How’d you know where to drill the hood latch on from the stock hood
Sheeesh that looks mean. Wonder how it would look on my white one
I don't think you could make this hood look bad on any color 🤘
Where did you get the black emblems?
I can only find those carbon fibre Stickers online but I'm not sure if that will look good and stay..
They're actually just overlay decals: bit.ly/2sZHpsv
@@jake_spence Oh ok, but the stay good? I'm scared that they come off when I wash the car 😅
Ciao dove posso trovare questi fari?
Why do you not have more sub? Lol you deserve them
Thanks man, hoping to blow up one day. Until then I'll keep grinding 🙏
Hi do the shocks on the hood have to be changed doe to the weight?
Water a problem with the vents in the hood?
good job, blowing the carbon fiber away :D
Thank you!
Does it fit to bmw 1 series 120i m sport 2008 automatic convertible?
Rather chincy they did not give you two lighter struts. Fit is fairly decent for CF.
I don't know of any CF manufacturers that would include lighter struts, but maybe I'm wrong.
you're getting your moneys worth on that scale
I'm just getting started! 😂
Ooooooh Damn!!! Amazing!!
Glad you like it!

bro nice!!!!

Look Dope 👍😎
Thanks 🤘💪
What about 125i?
where is a good place to buy f10 parts online?
Lots of places. ECS Tuning, FCP Euro, Kies Motorsports, etc.
Jake Spence thanks man! Love the vids! Keep it up
Wassup bro what company trunk is that?
Seibon CSL style trunk: coloradon5x.com/products/bmw-e82-csl-style-carbon-fiber-trunk
The badge is slightly tilted to the right...
Shhhh, don't make me see it that way!
Cleeeeeeeeeeeeean 🥵🥵

Did you make a tik tok?
I did, it’s me 😅
Jake Spence well shit gg
Are you a closet Canadian? I swear some words come across Canadian as a moose taking a bath in maple syrup.
Lol us Wisconsinites have a bit of a Canadian accent.
the hood is the 1m hood not the m3 wtf you talking
The 1M doesn't have a bump...
@@jake_spence Thought 1m had a bump, my mistake. Nice 135i btw!
dont ever paint it lol. paint adds weight + painting carbon is stupid as hell.
I love the exposed carbon look! The only reason I'd paint it is if it ever yellowed.
Boring front-end😨🤔
Ouch 😱
