I'm always amused at the differences in British & American pronunciation of words. For instance, we say the word jalapeno as ˌhäləˈpānyō, and the word fillet as fi-la. The stranger who told you how to say Valdez must have been equally amused. Safe travels, you, two. I enjoy your videos so much!!
This video was fantastic. This could be on the Discovery channel. The views and human interest aspect made this so interesting. You two have a natural talent for telling a story. So glad you stopped in Valdez.
Lol!! I loved this video too! I guess all people can choose how to pronounce the e name of their town, but nope the correct pronunciation would be Valdez! Lol
"EEEEZZZ!" 😆 Such a charming, rugged town! Mental note: needed or not, pop into Mark's garage to say hello and thank them for taking good care of our Chris & Marianne. So right about small town garages, Marianne. I have a theory: there are technicians and there are mechanics. A tech plugs your vehicle into the computer to ask it to tell them what's wrong, a mechanic takes all the symptoms and susses out the root of the issue. ❤️❤️😎👍xx
Oh they would love that !! We will be back again as we loved it soooo much so maybe we could do a TREAD tribe group tour ??? OMG that would be epic !! xx
That is because he hadn't met Trudy !! She is now 18 yrs old with 109,000 miles on the clock and driven some of the most toe curling roads that most people / vehicles wouldn't tackle - she is epic and we are still waiting for FIAT to beg us to do a collab or sponsorship deal ..... 😂😂😂😂😂
Valdez information was tremendous to hear of 1964 earth quake and water rise for a 100 feet high.thnx chris sir and marian mam.keep it up.and take care.
Another amazing vlog- very professionally presented as usual. One of the reasons why I’ve followed you for two years is the fact that you respect every place you visit, huge respect for the towns and people and the fact you research the area you’re in. Amazing and so eye opening. I never knew how beautiful Alaska is and amazing. The history is interesting too. Thanks once again; look forward to more great videos xxx
Brilliant episode guys, really enjoyed that. Valdez is something special & seeing those Bald Eagles in close proximity is a moment yous won’t forget. Your enthusiasm warms the heart. Safe onward travels
Valdez now added to "must visit" list... (for the summer season... and before mosquito hatching... 🙂) we are off to Alaska for the Iditarod 2023; can't wait! Always enjoy your videos; another top effort guys!
I enjoy your videos so much. I live in San Antonio Texas. I started watching because I saw one titled something about the River Walk. I got hooked with that one. Thank you so much. And I pray for you to have safe travels
Those eagles and seagulls munching on fish remains made my day. Thanks for sharing your adventure in this gem of a community that has seen its share of hardships and glory.
Thank you for showing us how amazing Valdez is!! To be honest, I have been to Alaska but never been to Valdez and until your video, I associated Valdez with the massive oil spill that happened quite a few years ago.
Hello Ambassadors Wow, what a fantastic scenery that was. I really enjoyed watching it. You guys always find unique attractions, they are all beautiful. Natural hazards in an excellent nature. 7-10 feet snow ❄️ Unbelievable. Thank you guys and we love you💗💗🇹🇷
Thanks Nick - wow what a place !! We are enjoying the wilderness and meeting some great people here too - The winters would be tough though !! Love to the family xx
Gorgeous video. The information regarding the tsunami was jarring. I live in the Midwest, and we hear so little about the Alaskan Earthquake in 1964 and I hadn't heard about Valdez. The photos from the last day are incredible, such blue skies!
What a fun and lovely villages Valdez seems to be. I have never been to that part of Alaska. I really enjoy Alaska but have only been to that state 4 times and 3 of those visits were pretty much to the cruise ship ports trio of Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway. The other places were Talkeetna, Denali National Park, Whittier (not much there other than the dock and apartments for workers), and very briefly, Anchorage. Marks garage station in Valdez is a place I will remember. We may just visit with a van some day!
Superb and inspiring. The info and naration are top class. I don't miss 'Discovery' channel when looking at this video. Wishing both of you all the best in your travel adventure.
As usual that was great, and very educational, I liked watching ice road truckers driving up and down in that area of the world, but it's also nice to see that land without any snow,
Thanks for the stories about Valdez; very interesting. Thanks too for your link and discount for motorhome insurance. We've just bought a 2005 Rapido and called up APlan who gave us a great quote.
Back in 2001, we cruised out of Seward and our first stop was Valdez. My, has that place grown. Loved this video. Safe travels and can’t wait for the next video!💕💕💕
Absolutely beautiful. The perfect shot of the eagle landing. What a beautiful town and people. Seriously, I’m not sure why someone on Netflix or Natl Geographic has not contacted you to make a series. Much love to you. And Trudy is a beast! Btw you don’t need to be a mechanic to travel the world, you just need to meet great mechanics around the world. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow! That was awesome! I have been to Alaska a few times but have never been able to experience all of this (Dwight at work)! But did experience the mosquitoes! 🤪 Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Bryn - we are not going to make it to the East coast - as it would be too much for Trudy on this drive as she is going around the world ... but maybe one day we will be back !!
Yes, Valdez is definitely one of those places you must come and visit. So glad you got to go and explore. I also enjoyed Haines Alaska as a place to view the bald eagles. Hope you've had a good weekend, take care!
On Sept 14 in Valdez- sunrise is at 5:52 sunset at 9:45. Day length is 15:53. On Dec. 14 Sunrise is at 9:53 sunset at 3:27. Day length is 5:33. Either do all your filming now or head south.
@@TREADtheglobe I had wondered that, guess has to be done. Warm then, good job with the amout of snow they have. Enjoying your story and travels. Take care. X
Hi Thomas - there are various visas for different countries - and also the vehicle regulations for Temporary import are also different for each country too !! For the US we have a B2 10 year 6 month visa - But if you are thinking of driving around the world too - we will be sharing the route as obviously countries are still opening up for visitors with VEHICLES - so things are changing all the time - we ship to Australia in March 2023 that is the only plan we have confirmed at the moment 👍🚐
The North Pacific Fur Fish…fur a few laughs. As for the photo with the polar bear, time to paws the video 🐻

I used to have a Fiat Seicento. My friend who was a mechanic said that it stood for Fix It Again Tony 😆😆😆

I love all the birds, but the eagles are a big treat to see. Only saw 1 in person my whole life 😍

We are heading to south as we are driving to Mexico we are not planning to stay in Alaska / Canada 😂👍
Stunning, looked fab. Question's, isn't only marrianne emptying the loo and what temperatures have you had in Alaska. X
Hi Linda - Chris actually does a lot too but as he is the camera man, we only film it when I do it LOL - It was warm in Alaska around 30 C degrees 🌺

Excellent, beats the brown stuff out of ASDA in Telford which is good for viewing Old Crows.
Love the sticker shout out!
