Those prices are cheap compared to the more remote villages. I travel to remote villages to repair power systems. The last village I was in, a can of green beans was $5.49, a gallon of milk is $11.99 and a 40 pack of water bottles was $64.95. This was in April of 2024. I don’t see how they survive with these prices either and I live in Alaska.

@@teendoll There's nothing here except fishing a couple months s year or working in the mines. Wages are not proportional and I think Alaska has the highest percentage of people on government assistance per capita.

I am so glad I had my first 2 kids back in the day before disposable diapers. Yes, pre-wash & soaking, washing, & folding cloth diapers required work, but at least I wasn't paying those prices. I wonder if they even sell plastic pants that went over the cloth diapers to prevent leaking??? Had all my kids potty trained, bottle broke, & eating from table before 1 year old. The first 2 potty trained themselves. Because of the cloth diapers & immediately feeling the wet/dirty, they didn't want them on. So they quickly discovered what caused it and would head for the bathroom when they had the urge. Yes, they spoiled me. LOL! Thank you for showing us how different things can be in different areas. Have a safe trip home!

These prices made me very grateful for the prices where I live in CA. Especially the produce. I even think that with your produce costs in Anchorage as well. Although a lot of the Costco to Costco prices on some of the other items between Anchorage and the San Joaquin Valley are somewhat comparable. Yours are higher, but a lot of the time not as far off as I thought they would be. I always find these vlogs interesting. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Grocery shopping is just crazy everywhere. I live in Southern Ontario and the grocery store I shop at for bananas is .67$ a pound but other places in town they are a $ including Costco. The big one that I noticed today was the cost of Jif peanut butter . My husband paid nearly $9.00 for the kilo jar, which is just over 2 lbs. The boneless chicken breasts are the same $5.99 Canadian.

Some of the prices were a little comparable to what I've seen in Virginia, some not to horrible especially compared to the little villages in the more rural Alaskan areas. Some were quite shocking. Definitely, if you're able to, worth making the haul to Anchorage and stocking up...especially with winter coming and pass closures possible. Thanks for sharing! Omg i can't believe the difference in prices. We are in Delaware & dont pay sales tax. Only resort tax down in the Beach area. Its virtually expensive to eat healthy there. So glad you guys grow alot & you really do well. Hope you're getting rest Mama Lauren. As always great video❤..Mark really looks like a Pastor 😂 that was cute. ❤
The 2nd place was exp too. We can get a 50 lb bag of potatoes for $13..and Banana 🍌 are $0.25 each right now..eggs are $0.93 a dz large..2 (18ct)=36 for $3.32 & 5 dz for $4.50. The 60ct is clearly the best price...& Milk is $2.50 a gal.
Diapers at Walmart are the BEST PRICES. even Wipes. Sz 1 are 162 ct for $17.68 thats $0.10 a diaper. Size 2 are 240 for $27.38= $0.11 a diaper...now the wipes are the BEST i think. They come plain..Lavender..Cucumber melon..& Shea Butter. All fantastic scente. Wipes come in 100 ct pks..so they vary in price of $ 22.84 for 1200. 12pks..or 900 so 9 pks for $17.96..& they have great Pull ups for when you're potty training! Hope this helps. We hope you register somewhere so we can send you gift cards & gifts. So you can get whatever you need! ❤

During the summer I would drive that 300 miles and spend the night and shop at Costco. I'd stock up what I could and then have to shop locally in the winter. People also hunt. I have friends in Washington and he hunts and fishes all the time and their freezer is full. I'm not a big game lover, but I can learn.
The average income in Valdez is close to 100,000 per year and the petroleum industry is a major employer.

My son has twins and yes that first year is a lot of diapers and formula $$$😮 they found a place where they could buy diapers in bulk for a little cheaper. WOW those prices are expensive in Valdez, I know it’s unavoidable due to transportation costs but it must hard for the families.

We are counting on lots of diapers! Hoping to breastfeed but I know we will need backup bottles of formula too!

To bad they can't find ways to make ways for transportation more easy or like once a month have a meeting and see what the town or city wants in their grocery store so the owner or the people can make it happen

I think I would try to drive to Anchorage a couple times a year and do a big stock up especially when you get the pfd which I know is soon. It would be worth the drive to have a pantry full for the winter. 😊

WOW!! I could live there if I didn't eat lol. We see high prices in the lower 48 as well like my small chuck roast I bought today for 15$ (which is ridiculous) but would be 30$ there....

Wow, you would definitely learn to hunt and fish and cook from scratch with grocery prices like that. I can make a loaf of bread for less than 50 cents. Of course, you’ve got to front load the bulk items. Speaking of diapers, watch for the Costco sales. 💕

what we dont realize here in the lower 48 is one reason its so high there is because alot of the food has to be shipped in

I am amazed at the prices. I wonder if there are families that drive to your town to shop to save money even though it takes time.

You live in a city. The small towns and villages do not have same access. It’s why people fish, hunt, pick berries and grow veggies in guess

Prices are horrible there! I's increasing constantly in my small tow in Indiana...1 box of raisin bran was $ 8.79....and all boxes are much smaller....I only eat oatmeal but feel bad for families. Only grocer in town and not a chain....well we have Save a lot but it's hard to find any organic or things without all the bad additives which I can't have ....autoimmune disease!!!
