Come on James. 53 years young I am. Sheffield born and bred until I left 2017 to live by the sea. As a kid NO central heating, the snow was 4 foot deep (no kidding) old school no heating NEVER closed. We arrived as children soaked to the core from playing in the snow. Did our learning came home. The world NEVER stopped, but it was a million times worse back then. Such a better world, happy, but lived in poverty. Miss those days ❤
It always amazes me that when i went to school in the 60's to mid 70's our schools never closed through snow storms. Snow storms in my school days were much heavier and most roads were clear ???
Lol. I remember the little bottles of milk being frozen solid at school.....until that Evil witch Maggie thatcher doomed all future school kids to no additional nutrition outside the home.
Love the channel, We have a close relative in Canada he has 15ft of snow stacked up against his front door! Happens every year. Thanks for putting things in perspective.
A little tip with smoke detector, when it goes off when cooking, press the button in the centre of the detector and it silences the bleeping for a while.
Fabulous video, I went to halfords today to buy a gadget that plugs into cig . Lighter to tell me battery voltage. They don't sell them ,met 2 great shop assistants ,that both do van life ,they both have these gadgets but better quality . They said amazon is the place . I'm fascinated how big this industry has grown, so many brill gadgets . I'm looking after my partners car ( he's waiting for cataract op.) .I know nothing bout electrics ,cars ect ,it's huge trying to understand the battery charging bla bla . Yesterday battery informed me I needed to charge again ! Hence trying to purchase this voltage gizmo. I wish I understood electrics and back up banks ect,it must be wonderful to have the confidence to do what you are doing ,I'm learning all the time watching your videos. I do believe I would have adopted van life if I wasn't 70 years old .😢
Love the videos! Dunelm are great- this Christmas they donated a van load of cuddly toys for struggling parents at a school near me so great to hear you like them too!
We've got a 2000w Aferiy power generator and hook the van up as you did. It charges our van, not sure why the Bluetti didn't work?! Sometimes if I don't shove the hook-up cable in far enough (Matron 😉😆) the electric doesn't work. Should be just like charging up from a socket at home with the power station, so I'm proper stumped, what you did should have worked.
Love your channel James is it possible you could do a vlog on some of the caravan sites you stop at think it would make great content I’m a caravan site warden on a site in Yorkshire 👍🏽
Loved the knot in the T shirt 👕 😂 You looked very cosy. The new cushions make your van more cosy looking. You need to get a theme going with the decoration, Helen will get this 😂
James ive had a lovely day driving round lodge Moor and Fox House today Sunday there was a couple of campers parkup at Fox House i helped tow a few cars out of the carpark .
@ Fortunately I was not drinking or eating, otherwise there could have been dire consequences! I keep seeing it, it won’t go away, its like Groundhog Day, but dark! 😳 🤣
Waftin the towel mate I was in fits and the bed making 😂wow I can't cope seriously my ribs hurt 😂 wish I had snow like that our snow down pour was rubbish lasted 2 hours then gone so dissapointed I was 😕this was a great vlog 😊
I am not an electrician but I did notice on the smaller PSU that you had a switch for AC/DC. Have you tried it on DC, not sure if it will make any difference? Van looks great on the inside, obviously you need plently of spare power especailly in the cold weather, another good vid none the less, thank you. 👍🔌
James, we found our compressor fridge really sapped the power. We now don't use the fridge in cold weather. Don't know any other reason that your power bank wouldn't have changed your system, we was on a campsite where another campervan was being charged like you were doing. Hope this helps.
Too much going on here 🤣… thank you for brightening up Sunday. You mention Sunday lunch.. all I can think ‘ will there be mint sauce?!’ Huge congrats on 70k !
Very funny vlog James, the van is looking good, more cushions needed, next you'll be putting bunting up. Congratulations on reaching 70k not be long and it will be 100.
James you need a charger ,all you are doing there is bypassing the 12v batterys, you need a charger like charging your car plug that into the power bank,I use a ctek mxs 10 amp that charges my 300 amp hr
Looks so cosy in the van with the snow outside, i love the cushions, one of them has exactly the same pattern on as our door stop 😅 bought from Boyes. Lots of Love to you and Helen ❤❤
It’s funny, I just found you! I grew up in Bradford, moved to Saltburn and my son lives in Scarborough!! I’m following you round… all a bit late. Hope I bump into you both, you’re an absolute joy!!
Fit a Victron BMV smart battery monitor , it will work with all types of batteries and it will give you time remaining given the items plugged in and switched on.
James that was definitely needed I laughed out loud at the making the bed clip. You need to point us in the right direction too, they never have the money for underwear god bless them. All you need now is ur shower hooked up outside and ur all set, it's only taken you about 2 years to get the memo😂😂😂
Cushions : Great crested grebes mate. Power- Run engine, it will charge via your split relay; but not optimal. Depends on your inverter really ..The solar panels are next to useless this time of year. Finally, layers me old fruit. And crack on with it , you big girls blouse. 😂 Great vlog
Check that you haven’t knocked the trip switch off in the 240v consumer unit when you connected the power cable. Was the Bluetooth already switched on before you plugged in as the power station should run your van
I have same van. That digital display is poor as is the solar controller. List of things i have upgraded over a 2 year period. Mppt, lithium battery(under drivers seat) b2b(under passenger seat) 3000w inverter and due this month to change over to a diesel boiler. It is expensive but if you can manage a battery and b2b first then thats a game changer for being off grid.
Great video, this is my favourite type of content…van life reality, bit of cooking and looking forward to seeing the pub meal, would definitely like to see more of this👍
Snow looks lovely but cold . I also have a small ridge monkey and they always cook food best on a low light . 😊 but I also have another cooking pan bigger than a ridge monkey and it’s called a ( SQ professional. It’s off Amazon . Good bit a kit . Could it be that you have to much running for the Blu etti to work ? Stay safe in this weather
Your a genuine van-lifer James. I’ve just watched some other vids of van-lifers and all their drama 😂😂. You definitely look much happier in your new van. 🚐. Keep up with the videos mate we love them. 100K by the end of 2025.
You sat there putting your socks on... what van life is all about with the surrounding view of the snow. Fantastic 💪 Think my back-up will be a Honda generator perhaps
You crack me up with your antics! I had a good laugh at the making the bed section making fun of the yoga pants & plunge top wearing brigade. 😂 so funny. I hope you managed to get the van energy levels topped up.
I have never seen snow for years since living in Australia. We used to walk to school with the snow knee deep, but we loved it as kids. Thanks for showing us James ❤
What you did should defo work. Check all connections and make sure AC is on at the power bank. Check your breakers have not tripped. I use a Victron charger direct to my battery from my power bank. This time of year solar is pointless. Please make the bed normal next time lol. Love the new cushion ❤
James, Mel from big van small world runs his van totally from his big power bank. I'd look at fitting a seperate dc to dc charger like the victron Orion Gx and a decent sized lithium. Ive done that in mine with my dc to dc and 250ah fogstar and the system is brilliant. best regards- Kenny
James, try searching on UA-cam for info about `power banks` in motorhomes etc. I`m sure you`ll find something useful. .. Loved the intro, you were so camp, it was scary!
When I was a kid in the 80's, I lived in the East Midlands, cycled to the station in heavy snow, and caught the train to school in London, and repeated at 7 in the evening, you just got on with it. Where I now live, on the Isle of Wight, literally with a sprinkle of snow, everything comes to a standstill. Us Northerners eye rolling. 🧐😂❄️❤️
I went to school on my dad's shoulders never missed a day snow 4ft what is wrong with the world shops are closed etc
Thing's could only get better back then, and they did get better, now things can only get worse and more worse
Me too. I am from Sheffield originally and remember the 4ft of snow as a young girl in the 1960s. We just cracked on wi'it. ❤
Yup.. And the Nation Knew About Jimmy Saville!!
Even nostalgia isn't as good these days.😂😂😂🇬🇷
It always amazes me that when i went to school in the 60's to mid 70's our schools never closed through snow storms. Snow storms in my school days were much heavier and most roads were clear ???
Yes our schools never closed, I can remember snow coming over the top of my wellies❤
Lol. I remember the little bottles of milk being frozen solid at school.....until that Evil witch Maggie thatcher doomed all future school kids to no additional nutrition outside the home.
That's because all pupils and staff lived within walking distance
I remember one time in primary school the heating wasn’t working and we sat in the class with coats and gloves, no day off or getting out early
Awesome! Can’t imagine a better life, warm & cosy in your van then off to the pub for a nice dinner and a drink 😀
Love the channel, We have a close relative in Canada he has 15ft of snow stacked up against his front door! Happens every year. Thanks for putting things in perspective.
I don’t think Helen should let you out alone again, 3 cm of snow and you are off your rocker 🤣🤣
Worth checking the trip switch for the 240v hook up, it might just be in the off position.
A little tip with smoke detector, when it goes off when cooking, press the button in the centre of the detector and it silences the bleeping for a while.
Please don't make the bed like that again James!
On the motorhome I had you had to switch over to external 240v charger on the control panel. If not then the 240 input will not power the charger.
Correct...
Fabulous video, I went to halfords today to buy a gadget that plugs into cig . Lighter to tell me battery voltage. Sweetie, age is just a number. If you really want to, do it. This is coming from another 70yo, not a kid btw.
Love the videos! Dunelm are great- this Christmas they donated a van load of cuddly toys for struggling parents at a school near me so great to hear you like them too!
One of the funniest things ever, and I not a laugh out loud person, my cat was looking at me in a strange way.😊
We've got a 2000w Aferiy power generator and hook the van up as you did. It charges our van, not sure why the Bluetti didn't work?! Yes I'll do one soon
Loved the knot in the T shirt 👕 😂
You looked very cosy. The new cushions make your van more cosy looking.
You need to get a theme going with the decoration, Helen will get this 😂
OMG I'M BLIND!! It'll take me months of therapy to get those bed making images out of my head. 😂
Congratulations on 70K subscribers. Followed you from the start and watched you grow. Keep up the good work 🎉
Thank you
Came for Stranded in Snow, stayed for putting your bed away !!!!!

Don't you get bored when the weather is crap. Do you plan ahead where you're going to be the following week. Love your vids keep it up mate 👍
I usually find something to do
James ive had a lovely day driving round lodge Moor and Fox House today Sunday there was a couple of campers parkup at Fox House i helped tow a few cars out of the carpark .

Not going to lie your Bed Making spoof was hilarious 😂😂
Happy New Year mate, lovely to see you loving the dream as per usual, keep up the good work.
That thing you cooked the bacon in reminds me of an old fashioned sandwich toaster 😮
Ha! I go past that pub (more or less) on my way to work at Mexborough!
Your cushion has stylised cranes. Love the snow. ❤🇦🇺
Starting the van is fine. It’s a split charge system which charges the leisure battery whilst you’re driving.
that sledging field looked like something off a christmas card and the van looks nice n cosy too considering the inclement weather
The bed making left me quite discombobulated James.
Can you promise to never do it again,
I don’t think I could cope!🥴
🤣😬
I've just spat my coffee out (kenco eveywhere) 😊
@ Fortunately I was not drinking or eating,
otherwise there could have been dire consequences!
I keep seeing it, it won’t go away, its like Groundhog Day, but dark! 😳
🤣
I can’t unsee that!
@@Craftylisa69 And you never will.
We could form a support group,

Not bad pub on door step 😂. Darlington to Catterick this morning 2hrs plus . Enjoy mate love the flogs.
19:38 put the power bank in the garage. Then shut it inside. The seals are fantastic and able to cope.
Even with no snow would raid local scrap merchants for car bonnets up turn them attach rope and use steep grass embankment good fun 😊
In the sixties we used to drive to Baildon to my Aunties and go sledging up on the moors great fun and cars were just drum.brakes then!
James the start of this video has scared me for life 🙈😂 ….Smithy
The eyes of the cat on the cushion were staring at me !!!
James, we found our compressor fridge really sapped the power. We now don't use the fridge in cold weather. Don't know any other reason that your power bank wouldn't have changed your system, we was on a campsite where another campervan was being charged like you were doing. Hope this helps.
Yes, one don't need the fridge on in this COLDER weather eh wot
You probably just need to upgrade the electrics in general mate. Especially living in the van.
Maybe turn the gas down a bit on the bacon since it's got a lid on the temp will be higher?
Too much going on here 🤣… thank you for brightening up Sunday. You mention Sunday lunch.. all I can think ‘ will there be mint sauce?!’ Huge congrats on 70k !
Thank you
The bed-making scene was so funny.....I was proper chuckling 😂

Happy New Year James. Love to see the snow. Its 34 degrees here in Australia (ugh) Roll on winter
Cushions : Great crested grebes mate.

Great vlog
Brilliant and the t shirt knots are done with a hair bobber😂
I showed the video of you making the bed in your Insta style to my dog, he is now lying in his doggie bed crying and he refuses to go for a walk . 😬😬
Im sorry to disturb your dog!
Wasn't just the dog James 😂😂😂@bythecurb
Check that you haven’t knocked the trip switch off in the 240v consumer unit when you connected the power cable. Was the Bluetooth already switched on before you plugged in as the power station should run your van
Making the bed.... I'm scarred for life
Thanks for making me laugh, at 7.30am, when making you’re bed 😂😂 it’s what we all need these days. 👍
I have same van. That digital display is poor as is the solar controller. List of things i have upgraded over a 2 year period. Thanks mate
“Milk it for what it’s worth!” 🤣🤣🤣
We now know how James gets his rocks off when Helens at work 🤣
You sat there putting your socks on... what van life is all about with the surrounding view of the snow. Fantastic 💪
Think my back-up will be a Honda generator perhaps
I've thought about that
You crack me up with your antics! I had a good laugh at the making the bed section making fun of the yoga pants & plunge top wearing brigade. 😂 so funny. I hope you managed to get the van energy levels topped up.

Rocky Erra show!
Don't panic Mrs manering.😊
If this is what snow does to you am glad we don’t get it that often!! Bed making not your forte’ 🤣🤣🤣
I lmao at your making the bed piece 😂
😂😂the funniest at beginning such a cozy van 😊
James, Mel from big van small world runs his van totally from his big power bank. I'd look at fitting a seperate dc to dc charger like the victron Orion Gx and a decent sized lithium. Ive done that in mine with my dc to dc and 250ah fogstar and the system is brilliant. best regards- Kenny
Making your bed, hilarious 😅
James, try searching on UA-cam for info about `power banks` in motorhomes etc. I`m sure you`ll find something useful. .. Loved the intro, you were so camp, it was scary!
Fyi... Dry cure bacon does cost more but they cannot inject water in to it. On the other hand some chefs add water to the frying pan to help cook it.
Ahh downhill sledging in the snow, the good old days
Hey where can I get one of those "Flip-Over"-bacon frying-pans-??--great Idea !!
They're on Amazon and other online retailers, look up 'ridgemonkey'
Had a good laugh at the bed making , enjoy your dinner , yum
If you have a normal leasure battery, then you normally can only go down to 50% in the battery, yes lithium is 100% better but expensive
Can’t wait for the rant, hope you don’t forget what you’re going to rant about. My husband was creased up with the bed making. Thanks James.
That made me laugh that james makeing the bed lol
Consider that lithium is damaged when using below 0c. so let warm up in van before use.
The heading tickled me and you have to switch on the AC power button on the Bluetti
I love that kind of weather Jimmy
Up here in Ayrshire - NO SNOW! Gutted mate!
Do love a big walk with the Dog in the snow, that underfoot crunch.
