- Today we are taking a look at Pilea peperomioides, the Chinese Money Plant, Coin Plant, Friendship, UFO Plant or whatever fun name you choose to call it.
In this series we examine all the basic care needed to keep our plants happy and growing as well as possible. We begin each video by looking at where these plants are native to. This gives us clues as to the best possible lighting the plants will need, as well as watering, the correct type of soil medium substrate to use, the appropriate size container to utilize, as well as how to fertilize and how often. We then speak about how to easily propagate this lovely plant. I finish each video by giving some unique ways to use these houseplants in your home and any other pertinent information.
The goal of these videos to provide comprehensive, yet succinct information about each plant presented so that you can walk away with all the information you need, and nothing more! Thank you SO much for these comprehensive care tips! I've scoured the internet to find information just like this, and surprisingly, I've not been able to find any, which is strange, considering how popular these plants are! Thank you, again! I really enjoy all of your helpful videos!
You can rest assured that my content is never AI generated like a lot of the stuff online! it's always based on my experience :) hopefully there are some other videos that pique your interest!
My favorite go to advisor for my plants great video
🤩
Hi Devin . This plant Chinese money plant looks so pretty . Have a wonderful day .🌿
Thank you! You too!
I’ve had terrible luck with these. With these tips I’m going to try again. Thanks
Yes give it another try!! their floating appearance is what i love most about them
THANK YOU for mentioning the high shed!! I feel like no one else has mentioned this and I’ve been worried sick that I’ve not been maintaining my babies well😅
“Spent Foliage”
Just a couple leaves here and there every once in a while like you mentioned :) my 2 pilea pots are doing very well
I’m so glad to hear there was some valuable info in the video!!
I have struggled with this plant, I appreciate the tips. I'll repot the one I have, it's under a grow light now. 🤞Your plants are beautiful! Have a great weekend!
Give them another try!!
Thank you Devin!
That’s a beautiful plant . I’ve never had one
Thinking of putting it on my list.
You should! They’re pretty cheap these days and even cheaper if you find a friend with one
Thank you for the information. Good video.
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative
:)
love you living place,,, so beautiful with many plants surrounding 🌿💚
So nice of you
My neighbour gave me one of these in a little egg cup plant pot last year, and have it on my shelf, I didn't realise they look so great when they are larger. I'm going to repot it and look after it more!
Yes repot yours! They don’t mind being in small pots but will often stagnate in growth
@@plantvibrations Thanks Devin, I will. I somehow overlooked this plant on my windowsill, as the pot was so small it was just tucked between other plant pots. I'll put it into a more reasonable sized pot , and give it some more love & attention.🤣 The full size ones you have look fantastic!
Thanks for your help…great information….ps…can’t wait to get my plants I ordered from your family on the Q….whoohoo!!!!
Oooo sweeeeet! I’m so pumped to get planting
My baby one just sprouted a new branch, or perhaps a pup, it’s hard to tell since it’s under the dirt. Thank you for this!
You are so welcome!
Pilea plants pup very often and it’s why they’re referred to as the “Chinese money plant”. Snip that pup off and stick it into a new pot and bam! New Pilea 🥰 or let it grow! That’s what it wants :)
I've been wanting this plant for a while now but haven't come across any. I'm you told us about the high shedding of leaves that it does, so i won't feel like I'm killing it. Its natural!
Totally natural!!
Excellent Sharing 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you.. I subscribed to your channel 🙏 Many blessings
Thanks and welcome to the community!
@@plantvibrations you're welcome 😁 Happy to be here 🙏
thanks so much for the awesome info! i just got my first pilea and can’t wait to see her grow. do you think pileas could be planted in succulent potting soil? or maybe a mix of succulent potting soil along with regular soil? let me know your thoughts!
A 50 50 blend of the two should be great
I may just have to have one of these.
Only one?!
@@plantvibrations can you recommend any place locally that might sell them?
wedgewood gardens may have some, or plant-vibrations.com !@@fransak2723
@@plantvibrations thank you.
I've always wanted one of these plants, but my home does not have enough sun near any of the windows. Thanks for teaching us about this plant.
Perhaps find a friend with one and take a little propagation!
I use LED lights that come on a stand. Even the halo ones look nice.
i had a small pup that my sister gave me and my mums dog knocked it over and beheaded it, losing all of its roots i tried to put the part with leaves in soil and for weeks it did nothing and a few days ago THERE WAS A NEW LEAF!!
Yayyyy!!
How did you get into plants?
my family has actually been growing and selling plants since the 60's! so i grew up with them :)
Yunnan is in south western China.
👍👍
My entire pepperonia is yellow :( what could I do?
Pepperomia or Pilea pepperomioides?
@@plantvibrations sorry, my Pilea Pepperomioides or chinese money plant 😜
What was that white stuff he mixed in the soil? Is it easily available here in the uk?
Perlite! It should be widely available
Hi. Just a quick advise from me about the chest in the back of the video. I would recommend to take the plants off off the chest. The cushions look very dented and if kept like this, it will never puff up again😅. It would such a shame because the chest is very beautiful😍
Thanks for the tip!
