    I've been rocking my way through this series and having an absolute blast! For like a week there's been no movies, no tv shows, no video games. It's basically just been living room to watch an episode and take notes, then spare room to research on the pc. I've picked up so many new bands and albums it's unreal. One of my favourite moments just happened there where you guys told the story of how Autograph formed. I'm a massive Autograph fan. I love all of their work. In fact just last week I bought the Fright Night soundtrack just so I could get "You can't hide from the Beast Inside". I've made a digital copy and inserted it into the 1985 album where it rightly belongs. It's one of their best tracks and it's trapped on that soundtrack. 3 episodes left after this one 😢

    Another great video!!! BTW, Michael Shrieve from HSAS was the drummer in Santana from 1969-1975. If you watch the Woodstock movie he is the drummer for Santana that does that awesome drum solo.

    I watch your podcast all the time, I enjoy it immensely and look forward to watching it. Great subject matter music I grew up with and I am 59 years old and a big collector of music and other hobbies. My musical taste is very eclectic which does take lots of time and money, but it is worth it. Still seeing concerts, I did see Kiss on their last farewell tour. Live in Detroit area after living in Florida for 25 years. As you know Detroit put Kiss on the map for sure. I also did see Black Sabbath's farewell tour and other shows. One great concert in 1984 that I went to was Dio's "Last In Line" tour with the opening act being Twisted Sister "Stay Hungry" tour. It was an awesome show and some dood was drunk and sleeping in the pavilion in his chair and Dee Snider woke him up and yelled at the guy and said "if you want to sleep at a concert go see a Englebert Humperdinck concert, because there is no sleeping at a Twisted Sister concert"!! He wound up the crowd and people instantly became Twisted Sister fans. My sister's boyfriend went to the music store and bought all their music the next day. Dio kicked ass it was a show I never wanted to end. Got to hear Rainbow, Dio's Black Sabbath's music but no Elf, Elves or Ronnie James Dio and the Prophets, lol. Dio could sing any style of music and you brought up some great memories for sure. Also it was an outdoor show at one of the best concert venues in America called Pine Knob in Clarkston Michigan I have seen countless shows there. My point is Pine Knob is not connected to Ticket Master etc so you can see a show at a much more affordable price. No bad seats, it is a bowl and has a pavilion for assigned seats, holds 15,000 people, free parking unless you go VIP. They let you in early so you can tailgate, rock out or whatever. It has won as being the best concert venue. For a while it was called DTE Energy but it's been changed back to being called Pine Knob. In winter it is a Ski hill and during May until September it is a concert venue. I highly recommend seeing some shows there, you can see shows and still grow your music hobby. So check it out there is nothing like a Detroit audience and Pine Knob.

You should check out the Twisted Sister documentary... it's currently free on UA-cam. Thanks again, Richard.

    Another great video with Ryan! Also, thanks for the member shout out at the end! Out of the Cellar would also be my favorite from 1984. Glad you mentioned Icon and Great White in the honorable mentions. My honorable mentions would include Reckless- Heart of Steel, White Wolf - Standing Alone, Wrathchild - Stakk Attakk, Giuffria- s/t, Vyper - Prepared to Strike, and Kick Axe - Vices. I also gotta mention Shire - S/T EP, Don Dokken produced it and you can definitely hear his influence on it. Swift Kick's Long Live Rock is another great EP from 84 as well

    Plunk… Ish… and Lynch…
    When Autograph reformed after the passing of Isham, they did so without a keyboardist so their live version of Turn Up The Radio that they were playing during the Get Off Your Ass era was like you guys are talking about. Also, Keni the drummer was the guy in the band that was good friends with David Lee Roth which got them on the VH tour. Steve Plunkett had previously been in Silver Condor as a guitarist for their second album. Silver Condor had a semi hit with the song “You Could Take My Heart Away” from their debut album before Plunkett joined.

    If you like Dee Snider you should check out the two solo albums he did in recent years. For the love of Metal and Leave A Scar. Both are excellent. Heavy rocking albums with just a touch of pop.
    I had that "revisit a cd" experience just a few days ago. The album is Kix - Blow My Fuse. I've owned the album for years and bought it because of the song 'Cold Blood' , but I never actually listened to the album. So I decided to put it on a few days ago and HOLY SHIT that album rocks! Top to bottom bangers and not a bad song on it. I feel stupid for not listening to it for so long. I had a similar experience with High N Dry a few years ago (21 i think) I had every DL album around HnD but never bought HnD or listened to it aside from the singles. I went to the ONE record store in Orlando one day and saw it and bought it. I put it on in the car on the way home and it blew my mind how good it was. Again, I felt stupid for ignoring it for all these ears.

    My #1 for '84 is Wrathchild - Stakk Attakk. A week hasn't gone by since the day I got it (in '84) that I haven't played it. Special ordered for me by the great Bob Plotnik (RIP) because it was impossible to find in the US. The follow up (The Biz Suxx) is equally as great. As for WASP, Fuck like a Beast was released prior to the debut as a single in Europe on the Music For Nations label (I actually have the 12" & the picture disc). It was hyped something like "the single they don't want you to hear from the band they don't want you to see". I'm with you on the revulsion for pineapple on Pizza...that will get you clipped where I come from. 😂🤣 and Summer of '69 still makes teary like a bitch to this day. I'm struggling to understand how you can rate an album so highly for 2-3 great tracks?

    • @HairMetalGuru419
      @HairMetalGuru419  Місяць тому

      It's all about how many albums are available to you. In '89 there were so many great fucking albums that I didn't have to choose anything that only had 2-3 great songs... but the earlier you get into the genre, there's not as much to choose from in some years. And, totally possible that I just missed out on some stuff as well.

    Lee Aaron is not the metal queen. Now give me Doro Pesch ! that's the true queen. I will pick the Warlock "Burning the Witches" album for 1984.
