"Best I Can" on Queensryche's Empire album was an absolute banger and definitely set the tone of what was to come. The funny thing about poison is The record producer had C.C. deville play the guitar parts on I believe it was warrants first album in the studio ,I heard it in an interview
Agree you don't have to like everything by a band. Metallica is probably my fav of all time but I can't do St Anger. Even James jokes about it during shows.
New Tattoo is as hair metal as it gets. I dig that album and saw that tour. I love the new Dogs of War Video. It is pretty fucking cool. Song is good. In my opinion. It is Heavy.
Adler was the backbone of GNR. Without him Appetite is NOT the same album. Same with Affuso from Skid Row. His playing MADE those albums. it’s never been the same after those guys left the bands.
I bought the Salty Dog album on release and only played it once. It didn't grab me - I put it down as a poor man's G'n'R - and I don't think I've played it since. I love the Sleez Beez. Lillian Axe are a great band - even though they have changed alot over the years. I agree that Big Game was terrible.
I'm surprised No Mercy by L.A. Guns didn't come up. Not only a great album opener but a great live one. A couple of others Hot Wire - Kix, Stakk Attakk - Wrathchild, Secrets - Vain, I Wanna Be Somebody - WASP and even though it's out of the genre what i think is the best album opener *EVER* Angel of Death from Slayer.
Guru you probably know, but I dont know who exactly is doing this song. I think it would have been a hit after a producer polished it up back "the day"! Its called (Im a Hurricane) ua-cam.com/video/rlrH3TNHyYU/v-deo.html
I've never heard of them, but the band is called Wellmess, and I think they're from Sweden? Honestly I don't know anything about them... song isn't bad, though.
Realistically you could call Metallica a hair band. They took a lot of shit when they cut their hair in the 90s. And they put out an alternative adjacent album called load in 96. I may take shit about this and they are a favorite of mine. But non glam hair band all day.

My brotha. Youre South Dakota Cohort in metal. I have a disagree with Skid Row. There is no doubt that Slave is heavier but it full of garbage songs minus 2 or 3.where As I can listen to the debut front to back all day. Just beause it's heavier doesn't mean the songs are better. Thats one of the only things I will disagree with you on. I like the the first one better. That's the soundtrack to my late teen. Sorry.
Hey, my South Dakota Brother, no problem at all, and I have no problem with disagreement when people are as cool and respectful as you are. For the record, I LOVE the debut. However, as time as gone on, I gravitate more to Slave. I don't think it's better just because it's heavier, because I don't always like shit that's heavier. But, in this case, I thought Slave was heavy AND catchy as shit. Anyway, appreciate you watching and supporting what I do... seriously.
Look, I get it, man. They're one of those borderline bands. I can see why people think they aren't a hair metal band, but I also understand people who tag them with that term. Me? I tend not to overthink shit like this.

Wild Side- Motley Crue (Girls, Girls, Girls)
Wicked Sensation- Lynch Mob (Wicked Sensation)
Secrets- Vain (No Respect)
Just off the top of my head......
Great choices, man. I could've easily added New Thing, SexDrugs... or Wildside. Hey, thanks for watching, brother, I appreciate it.
That Vain debut is great!
A band i never hear mentioned anywhere is Trouble Tribe. Anyone remember them?
Shit, did you recommend them a while back? I just listened to that album a few weeks ago after somebody talked about it here. Gonna check it out again tonight and see what grips me... I know I liked it, but hadn't heard it in forever.
@@HairMetalGuru419 no, but I did tell you to check out alleycat scratch. Especially the ballad roses on my grave.
@@russianbot9471 I know I had listened to that album a long time ago... just listened to Roses On My Grave... GREAT song. Thanks for reminding me about them.
@@HairMetalGuru419 you got it brother.
@@HairMetalGuru419 War babies is another band I feel doesn't get enough attention.
The funny thing about poison is The record producer had C.C. deville play the guitar parts on I believe it was warrants first album in the studio ,I heard it in an interview
Let's go baby!!!
Ohhh i would like to have JUNKYARD Blooze on this list , love that
That Cold Sweat album is incredible. It was called Break Out.
I had the Wildside album.
I worship that album.
The first two Lillian Axe albums aren't on the box set. It starts at Poetic Justice because they had already re-released them recently.
Thanks guys🤘
Hey, man, thanks for always supporting the channel... really do appreciate it.
About to watch this...If Broken Home by Spread Eagle on the their debut isnt on here somethings gone wrong somewhere!
Night Songs is the best hair metal debut album ever.
I probably agree with you.
The drumming on Ultimate Sin
I agree 100% on your number one Guru brother
Unreal that shit came out in '81.
SHOTGUN MESSIAH - Sexdrugsrock'n'roll!!!
Great song... could've easily made my list.
Girls, Girls, Girls came out before Appetite For Destruction, so Motley Crue had already evolved before Gn’R’s 1st release.
I was around back in the grunge surge. All you had to do in 1992 was wear flannel and you were the shit. That's how stupid it got.
W.A.S.P. Wild Child
Agree you don't have to like everything by a band. Metallica is probably my fav of all time but I can't do St Anger. Even James jokes about it during shows.
Everyone jokes about St. Anger. ;-)
New Tattoo is as hair metal as it gets. I dig that album and saw that tour. I love the new Dogs of War Video. It is pretty fucking cool. Song is good. In my opinion. It is Heavy.
I need to revisit New Tatoo, however, I disagree on Dogs of War... man, I've listened to it 3 times, and I still can't get into it. Glad you like it.
Blue Murder Riot.
Yep, great song, man.
Dokken unchain the night
Great tune.
Adler was the backbone of GNR. Without him Appetite is NOT the same album. Same with Affuso from Skid Row. His playing MADE those albums. it’s never been the same after those guys left the bands.
Very valid point. I think Izzy was a huge part of that GNR sound as well.
Kiss of death dokken off back for the attack great album, but yes bang your head is metal's anthem I 100percent agree
Hey buddy I would love if you can come on my show to talk some Hair Metal, It will be a blast!
I'm always down to talk Hair Metal, my man. Are you on X? If so, message me there... @HairMetalGuru
I’d add Lynch Mob’s Wicked Sensation.
Crash and burn don dokken great opener and a great album
Guru you probably know, but I dont know who exactly is doing this song. I think it would have been a hit after a producer polished it up back "the day"! Its called (Im a Hurricane) ua-cam.com/video/rlrH3TNHyYU/v-deo.html
Its catchy, the cowbell shoulda been right before the chorus, lol
I've never heard of them, but the band is called Wellmess, and I think they're from Sweden? Honestly I don't know anything about them... song isn't bad, though.
Ironically, Jizzy (Jizzo) fronts Quiet Riot now.
Yes, shit, I can't believe we didn't throw that out there when we were talking about him. Good catch.
And they play Blackout In the Red Room! He was also in LA Guns. Their live acoustic album with him on vox is cool.
Realistically you could call Metallica a hair band. They took a lot of shit when they cut their hair in the 90s. And they put out an alternative adjacent album called load in 96. I may take shit about this and they are a favorite of mine. But non glam hair band all day.
Haha, I see your point.
This is James Anthony this is my list
Krokus the song HeadHunter
Great White Out Of The Night
Warrant Inside Out
Kiss I Love It Loud
Winger Blind Revolution Mad
SteelHeart SteelHeart
Motley Crue Smoke The Sky
WildSide Hang On Lucy
Dokken Kiss Of Death
Besides my love for "hair metal" was the chick's were a hell of a lot hotter than the mid 90's and on. Man I miss those days. Everything was in excess....alcohol, drugs, sex and hair!!
Hair Metal did excess best, my man.
I remember hearing Love On the Rocks for the first time on cassette in 88 and thought it was great. Everything since was a huge letdown.
You lost me when you start talking about how great Flesh And Blood is.
Yeah I will never understand their praise for that album. They even have praised Native Tongue in past videos. 😵💫
Native Tongue was much better than Flesh & Blood
It sold 7 million copies. Native tounge sold 1 million
No, Bon Jovi is doing commercials for pain meds now.
My brotha. Youre South Dakota Cohort in metal. I have a disagree with Skid Row. There is no doubt that Slave is heavier but it full of garbage songs minus 2 or 3.where
As I can listen to the debut front to back all day.
Anyway, appreciate you watching and supporting what I do... seriously.
That's always been my problem with Judas Priest Painkiller. Yeah it's heavy but the songs aren't good except maybe 2 or 3.
Slave has great songs , more thrills than the debut full of filler.
Anyone heard the new Motley,garbage,John5 couldn't even save that song, solo was fire tho
It's shit. I tried... but it's shit.
BROKEN CITY SPREADEAGLE
I'm not going through the comments so maybe someone already said this but get GNR off of this list. Not hair metal.
Look, I get it, man. They're one of those borderline bands. I can see why people think they aren't a hair metal band, but I also understand people who tag them with that term. Me? I tend not to overthink shit like this.
@@HairMetalGuru419people say that about Pantera who don't know shit 😂
I loved Glamtera
Quiet roit hair metal?never, never, never!real heavy metal!
Look, I hear you. Maybe they're not... I understand why people think they're not, but I also understand why people think they are. I tend not to overthink shit like that.
@@HairMetalGuru419 thanks for the reply.as good or bad we think hair metal is it come with connotation some of us find not to our liking.ps Kevin was nearly bald then lol 😂
From the start, Brian's list seems to miss the whole topic point. Best hair metal album openers of all time. Like that actually mattered. Lol. Never heard of CHP or whoever. Love/Hate doesn't belong on this list. Cmon. Top 10 of all time? Get outta here 😂
Skid Row Slave to the grind is not a Hair Metal album😈
Makeup spandex and teased hair says otherwise.
