Crazy Nights will always be my favorite KISS album. I love all the era's of KISS but Crazy Nights was the first KISS I ever heard and the chorus in Crazy Nights or Turn On The Night pump me up to this day like its my first time hearing them. Absolutely love the first Faster Pussycat album, I love the first Tigertailz album....but I am more of a fan of Kim Hookers vocals over Steevi Jaimes.

lol trying not to comment all through your video, this will be the last one. Jack Russel and Tracii Guns put out a CD together and it was disappointing that Russel had writing credits on one song only, Tracii had none. I'm a bit stunned Bryan knows about Bonfire!
One of my fave bands, the first track I heard from them was Hard On Me from the 3rd album Point Blank, saw it on our Headbangers Ball.
Our MTV was MTV Europe so we had different presenters and shows, we had some of the American shows direct, like Remote Control and some of the music shows.
Our Headbangers Ball was presented by a German gal Kristiane Backer, (my 3rd love) and our Headbangers Ball was mostly European bands, so we had Europe, Scorpions, Helloween, TNT, etc... and Bonfire, another German outfit! Of course we heard about the big American bands also.
So I got their 3rd album first then got their first 2.
The 1st album Don't Touch The Light was a bit hit and miss but Fireworks was absolute dynamite!! Some serious good tracks on that! Best being Don't Get Me Wrong and Fantasy. The intro, main riff and solo on Don't Get Me Wrong have no business being that good!!!
The whole album is a blitzkrieg........ (Too soon??? 😏)

Always enjoy when HBB is on! A few honorable mentions for me: Lion- Dangerous Attraction, Treat- Dreamhunter, EZO - S/T, Lizzy Borden - Visual Lies, and Rock Candy - Sucker For a Pretty Face (only heard this album in the last 5 years, but its very catchy). I also gotta mention Malice - License to Kill, definitely on the heavier side, but I think most hair metal fans would love this album. Other amazing heavier albums that are my favorites from this year include those by Savatage, Warlock, Running Wild, King Diamond, Helloween etc.

Seeing that video , the bikes the strip bars , them going from drag queens on TOP to these bikers with razor stubble . I still love Girls record . All in the Name Of , All I Need , Dancing Glass , Bad Boy Boogie . Girls was a big time rebound from Theatre 🎭. White Lion debut was fantastic . Was this the year Bang Tango came out .. Faster Pussycat were killer , and would make a masterpiece on the second record . Seeing them on the Decline Western Civilization Doc , I started to follow them. Still dig parts of Whipped ..

Civil War, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Breakdown, Pretty Tied Up, Locomotive (massively underrated), Estranged (my fav song ever), You Could Be Mine (overplayed, I know), and Don't Cry (alt lyrics). This is right up there with Appetite as one of my favorite albums of all time. As a whole, I enjoy it more than Use Your Illusion I.

I don’t seperate them, they are a double album put on seperate albums, probably as they are so long. They both have don’t cry too. I agree that II has more good songs than I. Less songs too if you take off don’t cry and nothing my world it’s 12 songs against 16.

@@HairMetalGuru419 I was curious if all the Illusion songs I like would fit on one CD (80 min max). From UYI 1 would be Live & Let Die, Don't Cry, November Rain, Don't Damn Me, and Coma. From UYI II would be Civil War, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Breakdown, Pretty Tied Up, Locomotive, Estranged, and You Could Be Mine. The total time comes to 81:14. If they had this song list on one album and just trimmed it 1:15, this would go down as the greatest album of all time, IMO. AFD is only 53:52 in length and Hysteria at 62:32, in comparison. I agree, 1 phenomenal album would have preferred, but the UYI albums certainly delivered a lot of great songs nonetheless.

1987 is perhaps my favorite year. I was still relatively new to the heavier side of music. Up to around '85, I primarily listened to pop music. Dire Straits and ZZ Top were about as heavy as it got. '86-87 were my transition years.

Kane Roberts is a cool guy. I follow his Facebook page and he often talks to us fans. I've been a fan since he played with Alice Cooper. 'Raise Your Fist and Yell' is my favorite Alice album. Kane's guitar tone is awesome and his solos are nicely constructed. I like his solo albums as well. I can't seem to get into his "The New Normal" album though. I've tried listening to it a few times but I still prefer the earlier stuff. Love the discussion about The Cult also. 'Electric' was the intro album for me to the band. I then went back and bought the earlier 'Love' album. Electric is more blues-based sounding while Love is more alternative based. Then 'Sonic Temple' comes out and it is also an amazing album with all great tracks. The critics were kind of unfair on 'Ceremony' saying it sounded uninspired but it's still a solid album. Billy Duffy is an under-rated guitarist. A little while later they put out a self-titled album that I really loved too.

My #1 from 1987 was Whatever Happened To... by Soho Roses. If you take Hanoi & mix in The Buzzcocks and a little Descendents you have Soho Roses. Look them up, you'll love them. As far as Tigertaliz Young & Crazy ...that record was a bitch for the regular US record buying public to get in '87. If you weren't into underground glam, traded tapes or read Metal Forces & Kerrang, you wouldn't even know it existed. It was an import at first then it was eventually released in the U.S. on Combat, Which was a NYC label, that put out thrash and hardcore bands except for Sweet Pain (from queens) & Tigertailz. Aside from Bleeker Bob's the only stores I ever recall seeing a copy of it in was Zigzag's & this place on 86th st. (both in Brooklyn) that I can't remember the name of.

a heavily overlooked, but awesome record from 1987 is loverboy's wildside. i got that album when i was in the 4th grade...as the notorious video was played a lot. during dial mtv each day, i remember seeing the top 5 as kiss -reason to live
    loverboy - notorious
    poison - i won't forget you
bon jovi - you give love a bad name
    white lion - wait
alas, the loverboy album is a fantastic record, and one of the best songs, love will rise again, was actually a bon jovi song that they bought from jon and richie.
it is bizarre to me that most loverboy fans hate the notorious record...and i don't really understand why. its rocking, and it seems like the next logical move in their catalog. the album basically ended their run as a top band in the rock genre, and there would be no new material for a very long time. the singer would make some pretty noteworthy soundtrack appearances over the years (top gun, dream a little dream).

The Visual Lies album in 1987 is somewhere in the middle and is absolutely brilliant while 1989’s Master of Disguise takes on 70s glam head on. The earlier stuff is Alice Cooper inspired shock rock with dashes of Maidenesque metal. No certain order
    1. Mötley Crüe- girls album… mtv didn’t play the girls video much unless it was on late and they eventually stopped playing it soon after and banned you’re all I need and never showed it one time so really all the crue had that got played on this album was wildside.
    2. Great white-once bitten…always been one of my favorite albums of the 80’s.
    3. GnR- appetite…I don’t need to say anything here
    4. White lion- pride…Vito Bratta is fantastic and the rhythm section was underrated
    5. Aerosmith- permanent vacation…great all around album that doesn’t get enough love
    6. Whitesnake- s/t… still sounds great and it is a definite mood in a good way
    7. Dokken- Back for attack…my favorite Dokken album
    8. Faster pussycat- s/t…they instantly became a favorite of mine from the beginning. Of course love bathroom wall and don’t change that song but also love smash alley, got no room for emotion and bottle in front of me
    9. Def Leppard-Hysteria…I know it got overplayed because of all the hits which doesn’t mean they aren’t good tunes but songs like gods of war, love and affection, don’t shoot shotgun, hysteria, run riot are great. Still a great album
    10. Tuff Luck- S/T…I bought this in 87 at the age of 15 just because of the cover and for me it didn’t disappoint. They are a band out of Florida and wished they would’ve got a better shake. They have a second album that is cool as well but for me this recording reminds me of motley’s too fast for love album because of the raw recording and it just makes it that much better to me. I love the more under produced albums sometimes. Some great tunes are Take it or leave it.. sleaze if you please…up and down. Seriously love the whole album. Hopefully more people will at least check it out. Hey I’m 52 years old and as far as I’m concerned it’s still 1987 lol🤘🏼Another great episode Guru. Keep them coming 🙏🏼
Sorry I forgot my alternate albums.
    Alternates:
    1. Keel-s/t…my favorite keel album
    2. Kiss-crazy nights… I liked it better back then than now
    3. Bonfire- fireworks… cool album. Their album Don’t touch the light is great. It has a cool ballad called you make me feel. Love that tune but it came out the year before lol
    4. Y&T- contagious…I used to like this album way more than now but still revisite it here and there. A good 4-5 songs that I still love

Crazy Nights did go platinum and obviously gold since that comes first.
Speaking of KISS, since you asked about band members hanging stuff up, Gene has A TON of stuff up on walls and in display cases. I also know Erik Turner, Dee Snider, and Bret Michaels have stuff up. Dokken too.
Honestly could never get into Helix. Same with Krokus. Just could never get into their stuff.
Pyromania didn't go 10x platinum til 2004. It wasn't anywhere near that when Hysteria came out. Just saying. It was maybe platinum or double platinum at that point. What's sad is that even with the success of Hysteria and Pyromania, it didn't add too many sales to "On Through'" or High N Dry" as neither of them has certified beyond 2x platinum. Both deserve much better.

I always find it hard to disagree deeply with you 2.... Maybe it's because you're such good looking guys... The halo affect they call it!! 😅 😂
For me, The number 1 album of 87 has to be Whitesnake '87... It was referred to as Whitesnake '87 here in the UK.
Appetite For Destruction was something else, I still have the original banned album cover version which I prob got the weekend it came out! lol... Little 15 year old me going down to the record shop in the town centre wearing my Bon Jovi T-shirt and picking up AFD!! The passers bye looking at me and thinking to themselves, 'look at that young boy with such an offensive album artwork'! lololol!
But, you are right how G&R just dropped off a cliff.... Incredible debut album, sheer devastation. Lies was great, but then they just dive bombed.... Maybe that's the drugs and egos getting in the way, like you said, living off the glory of that 1 album, but time passes you bye and so does the industry!!
But Whitesnake '87 is the epitome of that era, the whole album is 80's rock excess.
If anyone ever asks you is there a single song that can put across the whole rock/hair metal era, you say yes, and you play them Still Of The Night! Every 80's trope is there, it's got like, 32 different riffs that are used during the song, meandering screeching solos, keyboard melodies Beethoven would be jealous of and that world famous rock cello solo!!!
This 1 song IS the 80's distilled into a tour de force of hair, jeans, leather and sexual tension!! LOL!
Whitesnake '87! Greatest album of the year, decade, era!!!
Always great to listen to you 2 shitlords meme on each other for an hour and half.... Keep up the good work and we'll keep tuning in!!
