My 4Runner toyota 1998 V6,3.4, automatic transmission,510,000 and counting. Just normal maint. Same transmission, U joints.and power train. It is the best car i ever had.
Well my 1989 Toyota Supra engine came with an engine flaw, the 6th cylinder head gasket was prone to fail, but an American made head gasket made out of steel was the fix.
That’s what happened to my 1987 Supra. The head wasn’t even warped. So I replaced the gasket and made sure the bolts were properly torqued. I actually torqued them slightly above spec. Unfortunately, the car was totaled about 50,000 miles later. So I don’t know how long the repair would have lasted. When I performed the job on another vehicle, I noticed that the head bolts were loose. I suspect the factory specs weren’t tight enough along with the poorly designed head gasket. Your fix was probably the best fix
Well-done! Top-notch video & narration! I love longevity engines, esp. inline-6's for their inherent smoothness. The Toyota 2JZ-GTE & GE in the Supra are also found in the Lexus SC300 & GS300. I have a '98 SC300 & that engine is a 1 of the key reasons I bought the car. (The SC400 & LS400 sported the 1UZ 4.0L V-8, which was so good that it was certified for aircraft use as well.) Re: the EV's - Impressive power, range is improving, but until there's a much more robust charging infrastructure in U.S., I'll stay w/ internal combustion mills - and they sound & feel so good, esp. w/ manual gearbox. They have soul.
The 3.5L V-6 in my 2012 Toyota RAV4 is a real jewel. Not sure how long it will go, as it only has 58k on the clock, but it's smooth and very strong. Gets 23-24 mpg in 50-50 town and country driving but up to 29 mpg on a long trip where it is in 5th gear most of the time. Can only wonder what this engine would do if hooked up with a 6-spd. auto trans. 30+ mpg on a trip seems an easy task.
I nominate the Suzuki J20 4 cylinder found in Chevy Trackers and Suzuki Vitaras 1998-2005 . DOHC with good low end torque, great growl winding out. 220K miles so far...been overheated twice... still original head gaskets
So many great engines and l have a 22R engine in my 1997 Toyota Hilux when l bought the Hilux 5 years ago l never ever realised what a fantastic engine my Hilux has l am very happy and has done over 200000 miles also the V8 in the Lexus LS400 there is a famous LS400 on you tube its is called the million mile Lexus and is been restored on a you tube channel and the engine isn't been reconditioned just the body and interior just a side note my 22R in my Hilux still has its original head gasket and carburator
Crazy you would put the 1uz lower than an rb or 2jz... Any engine is reliable if maintained properly, but overall an RB is not even 5th place in reliability
You forgot the Toyota 2F (Inline 6), dude! 1975-1987 Landcruisers. Easy 300k miles. Common to 500k & beyond. Mine has 257k and runs as smooth as the day it rolled of the factory line. Has never left me stranded in 20yrs. The "F", introduced in 1953, was nearly as dependable.
Thank Yamaha for the 1jzgte that the 2jzgte was developed from, on another note the 1FZ-FE in my 80 series landcruiser has 572,000 km on it so far, daily driven and often tows our 2.4 tonne caravan, what a champ 👍
Many cars have good engines the problem is the TRANSMISSIONS OF THE CARS .....THEY SHOULD WORK MORE FOR A RELIABILITY OF TRANSMISSIONS (NOT CVT ) !!!! WITH ALL RESPECT FOR TRUTH AND KNOWLEDGE
Older GM transmission (Allison) were long lasting and relatively trouble free. Todays Japanese Aisin transmission are usually great...Toyota is a major shareholder. BTW: Toyota's CVT's and E-CVT's are also great, unlike the other brands that suck
I know it offers increased power but diesel is nasty and the engines always sound like it’s knocking and pinging. Especially when pickup truck owners let the DEF run out and they leave black smoke & soot everywhere. Never understood the diesel preference but to each his own.
Das die Asiaten extrem Langlebige Motoren bauen ist bekannt.Gerade Toyota gilt seit je her als Meister in Sachen Zuverlässigkeit.
In reality …. Japan only made a few automobile engines that were really reliable . By today’s standards . Anything short of 400,000 isn’t really high mileage 😂
Knew this list was full of crap when they left of the Honda J series and the Subaru 3.6R... Those two will run circles around most of the engines on that list.400K? sure, 500K sure.
my model A ford engine is past 200,000 miles. tell me about an engine that can easily go 1,000,000 or more. then i ll be impressed...22R comes the closest.
Because the engine out lasted the body. 5vz>3tc you want a 80hp engine that's used to power a corolla in 1975-1983/5 in a huge hulking 96-2002 4runner. That's funny. We know what you smoking.
toyota isnt doing too good today with their 6 cylinder engine. seems they think they are packing shavings and or coming unglued in other ways. dont buy a 6 cylinder toyota engined car, go for the 4.
lol. A nuclear blast. Does not effect metal. Example all those Battle ships covered in goats and Chickens. The metal was irradiated. But unchanged. lol. If you want to damage metal. Weld t badly or blow torch it. lol. Survived a nuke. What a joke.
I wish there was a reliable, unbiased report about current engines...US CAFE regulations has made too many manufacturers build small unreliable 4 cyl, turbo boosted engines for todays vehicles...making them JUNK!. • NO, electrification is NOT taking over. In fact the EV car is becoming less desirable in the US. Except for Tesla, all American makers are reversing decisions to make EV's. In China, EV's are self-igniting at an incredible rate due to China's failures in this tech. BTW: I have owned 4 GM Astro.Safari vans. All were equipped with 4.3 V6's. Three exceeded 321k miles befor going to the junk yard...BUT, they went coz Indiana road salt destroyed their frames. My current 2000 GMC Safari has 197K and no rust coz I now live in Florida. It should be god for 400K, easily as it runs like a drream.

My gf's old 1980's Datsun 280 or 260z, I forget but it had a 6 cylinder engine with like 200,000 miles on it and ran like a clock.

The only problem with the 22 R engine was the plastic timing chain guides. Once the timing chain system was replaced, they’d run forever.
Have a 1994 Integra LS. 334,000+ miles and runs like new. Best car ever.
The Toyota 2TC and 3TC engines were indestructible. They should be on any tough engine list too.

Edb, if you take good maintenance on that engine, it can last anywhere between 300K - 400K miles! 😃👍🏼
2az-Fe is better 💯😅
I nominate the Suzuki J20 4 cylinder found in Chevy Trackers and Suzuki Vitaras 1998-2005 . DOHC with good low end torque, great growl winding out. 220K miles so far...been overheated twice... still original head gaskets
The J20 is a beast 💀

1999 4cy Accord. Traded it in with 451,000 miles
The 1uzfe should be replaced by the 2uzfe, 500,000miles in a Land Cruiser is standard practice with normal maintenance.
You forgot the Toyota 2F (Inline 6), dude! 1975-1987 Landcruisers. Easy 300k miles. Common to 500k & beyond. Mine has 257k and runs as smooth as the day it rolled of the factory line.

K series is king
They didn’t have much power. But they were tough as nails.

Toyota 20r and 22r, Datsun L16 - L20, Datsun L2.4, Toyota 18rg
84 EA 81 Subaru 242,000 miles. No major work done.
3.5 V6 in my 2006 Lexus IS350 has 260k miles only done oil changes and valve cover gaskets 😊
The same engine in my 2007 GS350 lost compression at 123k due to the piston rings, watch out for oil burning
VQ series tho…..
Good ole Chewbacca
Ever heard of diesel?

1.8vvti avensis bulletproof and also isuzu 1.7tdi sohc indirect injector. 😊

I have the KA24e in my Nissan Hardbody. 209k. Its a dog but still going.
I’m at 297k miles. It runs great and It doesn’t drip or burn oil. The only problem is that the timing chain is starting to get sloppy
@@Daniel-79 Mr 1 Jim ka24e on YT he has the upgraded timing chain tensioners.
@@Manskilz I’ll have to check it out, thanks!
In reality ….

The Toyota Cressida mx83 is the best every Of The car
Toyota 3.4 is the disaster for my experience
3.4 in my experience were fantastic. Just change out the timing components.
Are you sure you’re not talking about the 3.0 v6 ?
Yeah I had a 90's 4runner with the 3.slow 3vze, it was an awful engine, problematic, gutless, thirsty.....blah blah blah, I liked the 4runner though.
All three of my 3gens still have the 5vz with 300,000 to 438,000 miles on them run like new still.
IS 300 is the best> 2JZ

22re did have a turbo option just thought you should know SUV ZONE. It worked good also since you said it didn't come with one.
Chrysler 3.3 v6
Toyota 4 litre V6 petrol natural aspirated.
Late-model Honda cars are now going downhill.
NISSAN TD42 6CYL DIESEL easy 500 plus miles if oil changed every 5 thousand.
Which models come with that engine?
@melvinlusane1242 Nissan Patrol.
GQ or GU.
Mine is a 1988 Silver Top.
my model A ford engine is past 200,000 miles. tell me about an engine that can easily go 1,000,000 or more. then i ll be impressed...22R comes the closest.
Should've gone with the Toyota 3tc instead of that shitty 3.4.. I see those in junkyards all the time

Nissan has weak transmissions and blows head gaskets. Poor quality for sure.
I want be buying electric it's junk 😊😅😊
the lexus 2ur gse 5lt would shit on most of those engines
Nice video! Can you make a video for German most reliable engines?
There aren't any
