Had a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3, bought it with 24,000 miles and sold the car with 189,000 miles. Had a Cobb tune and custom intake. Never had to open the engine up. It leaked nothing, timing chains were fine, original turbo was fine, never even had to change the clutch after all those miles. I did have to replace all rubber bushings, in the front suspension and some in the rear, I did that with 165,000. At 95,000 I had one axle boot split and replaced that axle. Brakes, one belt, spark plug and oil changes, that was it. Never turned on a check engine light. Hands down, the most reliable car I ever owned until I traded it in on a Cadillac two years ago.
Toyota Avalon. Had one that went to 312000 miles (then got totaled in an accident). Reliable vehicle, plus most owners are the responsible middle-aged type who take care of their vehicles.
In 2023 I bought a 2001 Toyota Avalon XLS with 330,000 miles already on it. Only cost me $2450. It is a very reliable daily driver car and I make sure to change the oil ever 3k miles.
Retired auto mechanic, 47 years in the trade. These are all really dependable cars for sure. You left the VERY best one out. The Mercedes Benz 123 series. 240, and 300D cars are absolutely amazing. My wife and I still daily drive a pair of them. Dependable, easy to service, very economical, and a pure pleasure to drive. We also have a Chevy Silverado pickup that has been a true workhorse. The Mercedes 124 is an awesome car as well, if equipped with a diesel engine. Great video!
I agree! We had a limo biz and all our Town cars had high miles. Highest was 550k and still ran awesome. We had one that a drunk hit my husband head on and the engine still turned over
Our 2011 Honda “Oddy” van has over 180 thousand miles, still rides and drives like new! It is a high trim model that we bought used. It is the fanciest optioned vehicle we,ve ever owned. Took a few years to discover all of the gee whiz options, but the good news is that none of those options have failed! Unlike the Ford Windstars, Pintos, Mustangs, Fairlanes, Falcons, and LTDs it has never left us sitting along the road. Not room enough to describe the blown engines, head gaskets, dead transmissions, rusted on wheels, and mysterious stoppages of those Fords that we assumed were just typical problems that never let us see 100,000 miles in any of them. We were several generations deep in buying only Fords, but that torturous tradition is OVER!
1992 Jeep Cherokee. 383,000 miles. Straight six 4. 0 liter engine. Only had to take the a/c system apart to convert it to the new freon. Other than that, just oil changes and routine tune ups. Had to change the window rubber parts because they dried up after 20 years. Oh, it did start to drip a little oil in the driveway. But that ancient straight six engine, and the Toyota automatic trans, seem to be bulletproof.
Windsor V8, straight six, or newer Triton V8? The triton new modular V8 can be problematic, but with tens of millions on the roads, some will obviously need work. Most are good, just need routine oil changes.
Our 2001 Beetle Diesel we kept it for 17 years it was a manual shift to much for my shoulder 350.000 miles later we bought a gas powered Beetle automatic PS the maintenance on our diesel Beetle was mostly routine no weird stuff, timing belts was the big expense mandatory!
2002 IS300 runs sooo quiet and smooth after 22 years of ownership and counting. Never had any issues with drivetrain nor bodywork. Toyota cars back in those days were built so well!
@toyouall hey I have a 2002 is also. Bought it in 2005, it has 106k miles on it. Such a solid car, I love it. Goes down the road so smooth! The build quality is superb, still surprises me to this day.
I had a 2012 IS250 but sold it. I missed driving it so much that I decided to get me another one. Now I have an IS350. Lexus IS is very reliable, smooth, and quick, too. I'm not surprised Toyota took numbers 1234 and 6.
My 6-speed manual 2003 GTI VR6 is still going strong after 22 years (got new in October 2002) as my daily driver! I can't kill this thing! The only mechanical issues over the years (decades!) were a broken cooling fan, MAF sensor, and slightly leaking engine gasket (top of motor... I forgot what it's called). Total repair cost was around $1500, which is not bad for 22 years. The engine never 'burned excessive oil' whatsoever, and I often never checked oil levels in between oil changes (6 months to a year using Castrol synthetic then LiquiMoly synthetic)! The level would always remain the same! The car still has the original timing chains as well, and i've never changed the manual transmission oil! The naturally aspirated six still purrs like it's new every time I turn the key! It may not have a backup camera or screen, but who cares. This German Panzer Tank has been more reliable than a Toyota all these years, and I probably just got lucky. I believe VW's 2nd generation 2.8L VR6 is the best engine VW has ever made! If this car was offered new, I would buy it again in a heartbeat! Best car i've ever owned, by far.
I own a 1998 Buick Park Avenue. 336,000 miles on it. ❤ With the exception of a few minor issues, it has cost maybe @ $10,000. In repairs. Still love it. Has been to California ( from SD,) twice. To Florida from SD, 6 times.
@ over a 25 year period? Absolutely! My next vehicle will be a Buick Enclave Avenir. The major repairs happened when I allowed my X mother in law to drive it. She tore around a corner, lost control, put it in the ditch (more like a ravine). Took out the muffler and damaged the engine. Of course, she did not want to cover the damage. My insurance did, and my father in law, bless him, paid the deductible. ❤️
My 2008 Toyota matrix seems to be ok with its high milage. I like that the passenger seat folds down flat so i can carry 8 foot lumber in it and i can sleep in it when i am camping and i can put a pizza on the fold down like a small table and eat the pizza while i drive.
As a commercial driver in Australia I had a '95 auto diesel Toyota single cab utility. It was less than 2/3rds the size of the bloated things around today.I often carried 2 tonnes with it & it never stopped on me. It had 620,000klms in it when it was murdered by a rather intense "stab-in-the-back" by a loaded 6 tonne truck. No oil use,1 gearbox rebuild & no rust. Legend.
Diesel can run on veggie oil. The inventor Mr. Diesel made it to run on Veggie oil not diesel oil. Rockerfeller wanted his oil as the fuel. If someone has a hard time finding Diesel veggie oil can be used and it burns cleaner. Some people pick up used oil from restaurants, filter it and have free fuel.
Pampered 1999 Toyota Solara has only 123,000 miles on it. Very good maintenance record. V6 still zips, all power features still work including the moon roof. Not a work horse, more of a show horse.
I'm STILL driving my 2012 Toyota Rav4 Limited 4WD! One of (possibly THEE) the BEST compact crossover SUV EVER made. I don’t think I can part from it, EVEN IF I were to add an EV to my car line-up. Great on parking, great on gas (22 mpg), 4 cylinder workhorse. Enough tech for even todays world. DEFINITELY a keeper!!
1995 landcruiser diesel 4.2ltr straight 6, no turbo. 700000kms and going strong. Know of a handful of same series landcruiser s around town that have done 1.5 million kms, and still running strong. You can not kill the 80 series landcruiser, it will rust away before it stops.
I have a small SUV. It's a mercury mariner premiere edition. It's a 2005 3.0 v6. Its been a very dependable vehicle. It has over 253000 miles an had no magor problems. Just normal preventive maintenance. And going strong.
I own 3 mazdas (with 50k, 105k, and 187k miles; [7 total since 1991]; {all but 2 with manual transmission}) that all drive over 250k miles with NO major repairs other than standard maintenance..... best I've ever owned......
My 1998 Camry 239000 miles, just replaced original water pump. Other than struts and brakes timing belt tires, everything original and works. Drive to Ohio and back 31 mpg. running 85- 90 mph when possible.
We just got rid of our 1998 Voyager, we bought it new and it’s lasted since then. Someone hit it last month and the Insurance Co. paid us more than retail because we had low mileage, CoPart has it now for salvaged title, very little damage and runs great, go figure! It’s worth more in parts!
201385 miles on our Honda Odyssey. Put in the third set of NGK iridium spark plugs last week and hoping for the best. Will keep as long as it remains safe and reliable. Also completed the 19th drain and fill on the transmission. Synthetic oil changes with filter every 5000 miles.
@snickboy51 only major part was diff after about 200,000k. Which all cars need to do, often sooner. Was still working but getting noisy. Otherwise nothing much. Original motor is still fine
My Lexus LS 430 is still running strong after leaving the showroom in 2004. 20 years later, I still have the original parts, including the timing belt. I'll change the timing belt next month just because I felt guilty. Where else can you hear of a timing belt lasting 20 years. Lexus is just amazing. I got my Tesla now to drive around and put my Lexus to retirement. ❤
2004 Toyota Solara. Fully loaded and everything works. I've changed the timing belt is all. It's not started twice and both times it was a dead battery. 30.5 mpg and every time I get in she starts and we go. Can't beat it. 184k miles.

2022 VW Tiguan SE, 4 Motion. Best vehicle I've ever had, absolutely no issues. 100K miles, looks new, only replaced tires. Our Subaru, Toyota, and Volvo all had terrible quality control issues. Average milage today 31 hwy, 26 city.

Nice video, but how could you omit the Panther platform vehicles? Definitely among the best among the vehicles you featured. Lincoln Town Car, Mercury Grand Marquis, Ford Crown Victoria. Platform ran from 1980 to 2011. Million milers. Simple cars. Among the best.
My current 2008 dodge charger with a V6 3.5l aspirated engine now has 401,890 miles and still going very strong. I credit my timely synthetic oil changes and now a quart of Lucas additive with it lasting so long. Wish me luck the next 100,000 miles. 👍
Sad news is they will never produce such cars again. Remember the Volvo Jeep? That car was strong and long lasting that the manufacturers could in the end not even sell spare parts and went bankrupt. Strongly built cars drive down sales. Broadcasting their strength wakes up the manufacturers sooner and they start tweaking the cars to the extend an average buyer has to have bought at least 3 cars during their life.
I had an 07 Camry Hybrid that had 192,000 miles before getting rid of it. Just rwgular maintenance and no battery issue's. Glad the Suburban is on the list. My 1992 Mercedes Benz 500SEL has 475, 000 miles. Bought Ford Police Explorer Interceptor at 66K miles; it just crossed 171K with zero breakdowns. Even the scary internal water pump is still intact. Ford built those cars tough indeed.
I bought the first Lexus LS 400 in Houston in 1990. I drove it from Houston To Charleston SC. On a stretch of HWY got into race with Camaro. At 150 mph I chickened out. They followed me into gas station they could not believe the car was that fast. I was 40 years. That was probably one of best cars i have ever had.
Also had a LS 400 1993. Bought it new and got over 350,000 miles on it till it was totaled in an accident Best car I ever owned. The only thing it needed was a starter at around 250K and that’s it
That mileage may be well the case on previous generation vehicles such as the Camry, Accord and Legacy among others. I doubt newer, CVT models they're making now have accomplished that. CVTs are cheaper to make and more expensive to repair. I would never buy one and am sticking with the conventional engine/transmission that's tried and true.
I once had a Ford XF Station Wagon that reached 999,999. The odometer couldn't get any higher, so I'm not sure how far it actually travelled in the end, until an accident totalled it. I miss that car, it never broke down.
I have a toyota tundra. It's fairly reliable. 201k only minor problems. My last one went 232k until motor gave out. I also have a bmw 430i gran coupe. 160k nothing but maintenance. No leaks or anything else. Just tires, brakes, oil and fluid changes. I've owned mercedes, audi, acura, honda, infiniti. Bmw and Toyota seem to be the most reliable. Bmw is the only one that's never left me stranded. Tundra and celica have. I've owned about 7 bmw vehicles. 300k is easy. Never had a Toyota that far but I know several people who have. They have spent quite a bit on major repairs though.

I worked an extra month summer 4 years ago and bought my son a 2005 Toyota Camary for $3,000 it hasn’t given him any issues ( regular maintenance) and that car runs better then my 2016 Challanger 🤦🏼♀️
Ask all the Honda odyssey drivers with bad transmissions 😢
@David777111 you still drive it?
The Sienna beats the Odyssey. The Corolla isn't on your list so your list isn't credible
My Toyota Sienna has 222950 miles and still looks and runs like new
Red Block Volvo
The B230 Engine. Non Interference and the leader in reliability. 1,000,000 miles with care easy.
Runs forever
What about the average cost per year for the maintenance?🤦
My 2016 Honda Accord is about to hit 200k and she still runs strong looks new and ive never had a problem other than a battery going out
Lincoln town car should have been on this list. one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. 300000 and still rolling.
I agree! We had a limo biz and all our Town cars had high miles. Highest was 550k and still ran awesome. We had one that a drunk hit my husband head on and the engine still turned over
Plus the Crown Vic
2005 Camry was my mom’s I drive it daily and still runs and drives like new.
Have a 2010 Ford escape 4 cylinder have 268000 miles all original runs like a champ.
Same mine is the mercury mariner hybrid
2012 Infiniti G37. 300k miles. Going strong. Only repair was the AC. Regular maintenance.
Same, I got the X,same year..240,000..never had a single problem other than normal brake replacement..excellent car
@Jason-h1m i wanna get an infinity but im scared it might have the same cut engine with Nissan
94 Honda civic automatic 330 thousand, 2007 honda accord 220 thousand, never seen the hook, un efen believable 😊
Unlike the Ford Windstars,
Pintos, Mustangs, Fairlanes, Falcons, and LTDs it has never left us sitting along the road.
Didn’t know they had a toyota transmission. What years had them?
That 4.0 was bullet proof.
I have a 1998 ford f 150, it still runs great.
Windsor V8, straight six, or newer Triton V8? The triton new modular V8 can be problematic, but with tens of millions on the roads, some will obviously need work. Most are good, just need routine oil changes.
I have a 2000 GS LEXUS with over 300k and still runs. It was so good to me had to by another Lexus
The Toyota vehicles are awesome 👌 👏 👍
Our 2001 Beetle Diesel we kept it for 17 years it was a manual shift to much for my shoulder 350.000 miles later we bought a gas powered Beetle automatic PS the maintenance on our diesel Beetle was mostly routine no weird stuff, timing belts was the big expense mandatory!
Changing gears was too much for your shoulder?
Some kind of damage?
@@oneshothunter9877 - Tear a rotator cuff and you'll understand.
@ senior now painful shoulder
@@hansroos9433 - Oh, yes... Arthritis will do it, too!
It all boils down to taking care of your car mantence is the key factor look at your owners Manual and do want it saids
Correct! And the number 1 thing is to take care of the liquids.
STILL HAVE MY 2006 NISSIAN ALTIMA NO CVT.126,000 MILES.
Bought a land cruiser and it worked for generations
Bought Subaru in 1987 nearly 100000 kms driven .😊
Aren't you missing a zero?
1 million ..sorry 😜
My uncle had a 95 Chevy tahoe, and it never had any problems. He never changed any parts or the oil, and it just keeps going.
Toyota MR2 1993. Drove it for twenty seven years.
That's pretty good. Drove my 1992 Acura Integra for 23 years (500,000km - never replaced the clutch)
My 2009 Honda Civic EX. 297,000 miles and still going strong. Very low maintenance. Luv luv luv my Honda!
Toyota Corolla 93 most reliable of all time almost 780000 kms still function...
My Suzuki Swift has 12000 km and works as a charm !
I own a 1998 Buick Park Avenue. 336,000 miles on it. ❤ With the exception of a few minor issues, it has cost maybe @ $10,000. In repairs. Still love it. Has been to California ( from SD,) twice. To Florida from SD, 6 times.
You are happy with $10,000 in repairs?
@ over a 25 year period? Absolutely! My next vehicle will be a Buick Enclave Avenir. The major repairs happened when I allowed my X mother in law to drive it. She tore around a corner, lost control, put it in the ditch (more like a ravine). Took out the muffler and damaged the engine. Of course, she did not want to cover the damage. My insurance did, and my father in law, bless him, paid the deductible. ❤️
ten grand ???? 😁😁😁🥰
My 2008 Toyota matrix seems to be ok with its high milage. I like that the passenger seat folds down flat so i can carry 8 foot lumber in it and i can sleep in it when i am camping and i can put a pizza on the fold down like a small table and eat the pizza while i drive.
Civics and Corollas of the 90's are bulletproof and should have been on the list over at least 5 others that made the list.
The side windows on the 1996 to 1999 Honda Civics always blew out on both the passenger and drivers side.
In general Japanese brands are more reliable than others
BS --South Korean cars are just as good
Nothing beats the Mercedes W 124 to be honest global most favourite taxi ever some run over 5 million miles
I have a 1998 C230 209,000 miles. No engine problems. I am spoiled. Shopping for a new car and it's hard to decide.
You forgot the 2007-2011 Crown Victoria, also has one of the most reliable engines the 4.6 two valve.
Thank you!:( was looking for this comment;)
Had a crown vic 2004 Lx, that thing was solid as hell and got rid due to rust ,it had 280 000 km on original trans and engine...Great cars👍
If you bought one with 100,000 miles on it, that wasn't a squad car, they are serviced, oil change every 5000 miles, it would just be broke in by now.
I drive a 2003 Mazda Tribute with 210,000 Miles. Still going strong!
So happy the Japanese cars are rightfully among the best...!!! They are indeed...!!!
Last week I just got 95,000 miles on my 2009 Camry.
It’s been a great car!!
My corolla 1996 is at 195,000 miles. Still running. My first property in america. No major troubles, easy maintenance.
My Volvo 1998 V90/965; 176,000 miles, until someone crashed into me, or I'd still be driving it to 200, 300K miles.😢
I own 3 mazdas (with 50k, 105k, and 187k miles; [7 total since 1991]; {all but 2 with manual transmission}) that all drive over 250k miles with NO major repairs other than standard maintenance..... best I've ever owned......
2001 Acura 3.2 CL typeS…..has never failed us. Only new batteries. Everything works. Heated seats, AC, sunroof, etc. Wish we could have afforded two 😜
My 1998 Camry 239000 miles, just replaced original water pump. Other than struts and brakes timing belt tires, everything original and works. Drive to Ohio and back 31 mpg. running 85- 90 mph when possible.
1996 to 1998 Honda Odyssey. Basically a Accord with a higher Roofline. Last ones built in Japan. Bullet proof. Best thing Honda has ever made.
I owned the 2000 Grand Voyager. It had 210000 miles on it, I only had to replaced the solenoid on the transmission ($350) before I sold it.
That kind of maintenance is the single biggest determining factor to a vehicle's longevity.
Pretty excess trany oil changes booster.
@ yes
Reliability is seldom a measure of desirability for those who love cars.
But a major consideration for those who prefer our money to remain in our accounts.
2012-2013 Honda Civic Coupe. Fun car, good in the snow with good tires, fun car to drive, get a sunroof. Best car I've EVER had and still have it. 💪
I have a Toyota 1999 4Runner, over 300,000, engine still like brand new.
Had my ford for 20 years since new. Plenty km. It has not once broken down.
Not even once?
Very rare
@Chris_de_S its had replacement parts, just never caught me out
@@dennisbradley5620 ….. Replacement parts? You mean like engines, transmissions, radiators, and other minor items?
@snickboy51 only major part was diff after about 200,000k. Which all cars need to do, often sooner. Was still working but getting noisy. Otherwise nothing much. Original motor is still fine
My Lexus LS 430 is still running strong after leaving the showroom in 2004. 20 years later, I still have the original parts, including the timing belt. I'll change the timing belt next month just because I felt guilty. Where else can you hear of a timing belt lasting 20 years. Lexus is just amazing. I got my Tesla now to drive around and put my Lexus to retirement. ❤
Happy with 2004 Subaru Impreza Outback and 2005 Honda Civic 😊
Our 2000 TOYOTA CORROLA is still running great!
2004 Toyota Solara. Fully loaded and everything works. I've changed the timing belt is all. It's not started twice and both times it was a dead battery. 30.5 mpg and every time I get in she starts and we go. Can't beat it. 184k miles.
Still have my 98 Accord. Still runs great. Also have a 2019 Lexus ES 350. I'm excited to see how mamy miles I can put on it!!
Volkswagon Jetta to the Passat I’ve had a 2012 Jetta in 2014 owned it 7 years 33000 miles when I got it sold it with 259 on the dash only tuned it up tires brakes whole time owing it ran immaculate Passat 2020 incredible 760 miles to empty on the gas hands down monsters !!
2022 VW Tiguan SE, 4 Motion. Best vehicle I've ever had, absolutely no issues. 100K miles, looks new, only replaced tires. Our Subaru, Toyota, and Volvo all had terrible quality control issues. Average milage today 31 hwy, 26 city.
I have a 2002 Acura RSX Type S 6 speed which I love. I have maintained it with Acura or Honda the entire time. It only has just under 116,000 miles. I see it lasting for years still. Best car I ever owned.
06 suburban 5.3 big but I'm big. Best vehicle ever
Generally speaking a manual transmission is more reliable than the automatic. Clutch replacement is the biggest expense, but doesn't happen often.
1997 Lexus ES 300. 235 K runs like a top.
Sure, maintenance items but engine, transmission no problem.
Good point!
Toyota hiace ...she is a 94..never let me down ..only 300,000 kms...never give her up
I’m driving Pontiac Vibe 2009 wi400 000 kms and still going strong
This car is basically a Toyota mayrix. That's why it's lasted you so long!!
You are absolutely right brother I liked the car first one I drove for 500k kms and now another 400k kms
My current 2008 dodge charger with a V6 3.5l aspirated engine now has 401,890 miles and still going very strong. I credit my timely synthetic oil changes and now a quart of Lucas additive with it lasting so long. Wish me luck the next 100,000 miles. 👍
I put 360,000 in 13 years on my last Chevy truck, but rust becomes a major problem at about 9 years.
Little things started to happen, a check engine light and other small issues. Decided to upgrade to a 2018 Toyota Highlander. It had 34,000 miles when I got it June 2021. It now has 129,000 and runs hust as good as the day I bought it. Im keeping it til it dies. Hopefully I can get to 400,000 miles plus on it
2011 Nissan altima 2.5 engine 524000 miles I bought it new. Only just typical things that go wrong with it so performs beautifully but I do have an excellent mechanic
The reality is that it comes down to the driver , if you take care of your car it will take care of you , bought my 2015 GMC Sierra brand new 10 years later not a single issue only oil changes heck my brother in laws 2002 Ram 1500 has over 400k miles on it and I known several people with Toyotas and Hondas that are always breakjng down , so it comes down to you really
My uncle drove a 2003 Toyota Corolla, which reached 600,000 miles.
Bought it new and got over 350,000 miles on it till it was totaled in an accident
Best car I ever owned. The only thing it needed was a starter at around 250K and that’s it
@@ericemslie9870 I remember when i first looked at it they put a glass of water on the engine and started motor. it did move! I was sold
I hav an 05 ls 430. Incredible car. Also had the original 90 ls 400
I have 2011 VW Jetta diesel with 216k miles.
