Neville this song is massive to me being an ex Borstal boy like yourself. Terry, RIP rude boy you gave people like myself a meaning, i miss you so much.
I was 13 Bowling Through Basildon with a stereo box near everyday! No one told me to shut up :) This & doors of your heart - The beat -My favs :Geat post ty for sharing
I was 13 when I saw this on TOTP, I went straight out and spent my savings from my paper round wages on a Christmas Jumper like Terry Halls. I can't ever remember being happier than that period of my 55 years on the planet.
It certainly wasn't... JB on drums wasn't giving a toss and Dave from The Beat decided to pop in instead of Horace... A thing the 2 Tone bands did every TOTP's appearances.....
This song sums up what life has become for so many of our young people together with the evoking sounds from the late Rico RIP makes it even more poignant!! Terry Hall's RIP expression of the song with fellow Band Members only helps to encapsulate and enhance the message in this Classic song!
Ricos solo always gives me chills on this song. I actually just found out he died 8 years ago which is what made me look for this song in particular. Legendary artist. RIP Rico.
@@bernardfarrell8453 No, not according to Horace's book Bernard. They just did it for a laugh. He also says he did it to avoid having to wear one of the Christmas jumpers Jerry Dammers had bought everyone!
The legendary Neville Staples. Still plays with his own band but often can't dance any more as his knees are so shot from decades of dancing. Still a brilliant entertainer though, one of the great guys of music
What memories I have of this song
Rest in peace Terry what a legend 🙏💔
He's more than a legend, he's special

Probably a stupid question, but is that Rico Rodriguez on the trombone?
The one and only.
I think Terry Hall is taking the piss by chewing Gum while mining to song as they did on TOTP.
They hated lip syncing so chewed gum to make it obvious.
Lol taking the piss probably is ha ha
Actually coked up you chew like that i think .
Such a talented, kind, gifted, handsome man! Rest in Eternal Peace. AMEN

David Steele from The Beat on bass. Horace Panter appearing for The Beat on bass in the same episode of TOTP, for a laugh.
weren’t it because they’d split up in the dressing room
