Lyrics:
Each day I walk along this lonely street
Trying to find, find a future
New pair of shoes are on my feet
Cause fashion is my only culture
Nothing ever change, oh no
Nothing ever change
People say to me just be yourself
It makes no sense to follow fashion
How could I be anybody else
I don't try, I've got no reason
Nothing ever change, oh no
Nothing ever change
I'm just living in a life without meaning
I walk and walk, do nothing
I'm just living in a life without feeling
I talk and talk, say nothing
Nothing ever change, oh no
Nothing ever change
I walk along this same old lonely street
Still trying to find, find a reason
Policeman comes and smacks me in the teeth
I don't complain, it's not my function
Nothing ever change, oh no
Nothing ever change
They're just living in a life without meaning
I walk and walk, do nothing
They're just playing in a life without thinking
They talk and talk, say nothing
I'm just living in a life without feeling
I walk and walk, I'm dreaming
I'm just living in a life without feeling
I talk and talk, say nothing
I'm just living in a life without meaning
I walk and walk, do nothing

Can’t believe he’s dead
@@gemini802 didn’t know that I remember hearing them around 1978 and Madness on the old gray whistle test and that was me be came a skinhead I was only 10 things I did good days. r.i.p Terry Hall
Such a wonderful song and just look at them. Beautiful in so many ways.
I'm still in shock such wonderful memories ❤️
This news hit hard 😭😭
Skinheads, mods, punks, blacks ,whites,asians...we were all in it together in those days. This music united us all...great days.
ua-cam.com/video/Rn8J8vnG85c/v-deo.html
then we got black gang bangers ,,,banging
Well said mate, too much separation now, together we are stronger to fight the real enemies, the government 💪🙏❤️
Those who hate us will try to divide us.
At last brother a person whom lived it as I did ....well said ...respect!!!
This will never be recreated ever again and im fckn proud to have been there 😢😢
Kudos 🌴🌴
Well said and same... wish I could still get in me tartan trousers!!! RIP Terry and Brad

Same I’m first generation Brit, my mum a Scot working class poverty moved to England met my dad immigrant from Grenada in the early 60s (he still has all his boxes of Trojan records) me and my brother and 2 sisters were born 60s,70s to early 80s and we had this amazing fusion . In our council estate where our parents lived bought their houses you could say it was the closer to Eden you could get .
Not hate , everyone was just best mates you’d have my dad and kevign dad up croft bickering about the horse races because it was their one day blasting two sets of lps and discussing how to make us croft kids make shift go cart better.
We were just hard working poor folks , any animosity was against the elites and their policies ruining us .
They hated us getting on and forming communities like the saying goes it takes a village..
Damn I was blessed to be part of it and being mixed race and proud to be British but first and foremost Yorkshire . I never forget my blessing of all those amazing fireworks being brought together to make us yano.
I pray the next generations have that zeitgeist again, coming together and making magic.
There’s still hope.
And so am I brother
I remember being in my family kitchen, this was playing. My mum, dad, little brother are all gone now. Life passes by. Loved this band. So sorry for what happened to TH. RIP
hold on to the memories mate
That is so sad, bless you
Hi.
I'm in the same boat, sadly.
My mam,dad,sister,son.
These songs bring back the times for sure.
Stay strong x
Sorry for your losses ,,, keep strong bud
This group played a big part helping my generation have a life without even thinking about racism
Sounds like you weren’t thinking at all, btw the Specials have songs about racism, you were just blissfully ignorant apparently
@@sooperheep sounds like someone looking for an argument there, but no one is biting, they clearly meant a life without being racist, but yes get bogged down with semantics and really miss the point of the post.
@@sturdeehouse 😆you must understand morons better than I do
Context of all this was the racial tensions in England at the time? 2-tone and ska was choosing to promote more diversity and less conflict in the 70s-80s?
RIP Terry, you wrote the soundtrack to my youth and I loved every minute of it. God bless, sleep tight and thank you for the music
Spot on buddy, many memories 😢
If you could only take one album when you are stranded on a desert island... fucking this!!! so much!!! luv u
Was only 14, now 58, surprising how true the lyrics are still today in dec 24!!!???? [ RIP terry ] nuff said!😎😎😎😎😎
I hear you. 55 in shitty seattle. These songs bring little miracles. I want that sweater!
Same age here, my favorite band as a teenager. Better times and a great era we grew up in
well said pat
Anyone late 40s and upwards will feel a cold wind blowing today. RIP. This track takes me back to being 8 years old again.
Me too, lost someone special
Perfectly put, mate. This one's hit me hard.
I don't have many heroes in life, and he'd probably have been uncomfortable with that title, but that's what he was to me since I was a kid.
Rest well, Terry, you've left an unfillable hole, mate.
I'm 29, I feel the wind too.
Rip Terry
Me too, I'm still thinking Terry's passing is a sick joke.
O, ob him o rage CHECK CH K Q HC G OR g i must have done this to my self. K691276g jc haaaheehoohiibye
The kind gentle soul that was Terry Hall. Terry was a man that you could look up to. The true definition of a gentleman. He wanted no divisions, just unity. Love shared from one brother to another. No self loving, no self-importance. A truly down to earth man, with a love of peace, & a heart of gold. Rest in peace 🙏 xx
beautiful tribute for an amazing talent from up the road,Cov
Why can't we live together ... Terry understood that and his death must be remembered forever ! Ska's been a great part when I was a teenager, I'll never forget that ! Rip Terry ...
How nicely put. Great to hear that about Terry. Would have loved to see The Specials Live
Beautiful words for a true gentleman 🙏👌
Lovely tribute to an amazing talent grew up loving The Specials, madness ,bad manners ,the beat ,ub40 ❤ gone never ever forgotten Terry Hall 😢😢😢
I was a 13 year old living on a council estate in SE London when this came out, it was like it was written for me. Listening 42 years later it’s still like the first time. RIP Terry x
It's a jungle out there,
on the south circular,
basically what Terry
is saying. 👍😎 ☯️☮️
It came around and therecwas a blood orange moon and dragons flies the size of dinner plates..and you were there and....wait, so are you saying its not the way to Oz because I was hoping to meet the wizard. I'm just crazy. I must have bumped my head.
Same here man 😊u probably about same age me born 68
Palace or Millwall my friend ??
I was born 68, so exactly the same for me.
Words cannot describe how much I LOVE this song. Terry at his all time best with this Rude Buoy Massive. RIP!
Brilliant, isn’t it. So sad.
A message to you rudies... Don't forget this man. He was awesome.
Here is a man that new about equality and poverty, and still today this music is so relevant, nothing ever changed .
RIP a wonderful man band and music, ❤️
So true...How sad that in 2024 that this is still the case
2 Tone, black and white as it should be 🖤🤍

RIP Terry Hall. Recession, poverty struggles, people got to eat or heat..Its 2022! Nothing ever change! 2 Tone was it.. RIP. UK 🇬🇧

This has to be one of the most best lyrics/songs ever. Real talk by a real band. R.I.P. Terry Hall. Your music will never fade. Never.
Rip Brad 2015, Rico 2015, Terry 2022. The soundtrack to my youth. Thank you gentlemen xx
RIP Terry Hall - you sang what we all wanted to say xxx
What a great band The Specials were. RIP Terry Hall - An original and unique vocalist and great lyricist.
Rest In Peace Terry Hall.
This melancholy, yet gorgeous song was not their most well known, but was the first that came to mind when I heard the news. Timely with those Christmas jumpers as well. So many of his to hear again now.
At that time it was NOT Xmas jumpers we had all those norgie wool sweaters
RIP Terry. As the front man of one of the greatest bands of the 1980’s, The Specials united everyone.
Whites, blacks, asians, Mods, punks and of course skinheads. Wonderful musical days.
This band had the most profound influence on the 11 year old me. Changed my outlook and my music forever.
Thank you, Terry. Rest well, brother.
same same same, totally
I'm 62 was a youth at the time, 70s.best times of my life. This band re-invented ska music and was one of the first bands to include black artists. HENCE 2 TONE. THEN WE HAD, THE SELECTER MADNESS, THE BEAT, BAD MANNERS. GOOD TIMES.
AND ME TOO BROTHER X
I love how Terry's performance captures the song, the lazy swaying along, the gum chewing, the look of apathy on his face. It's like him having an existential crisis in the middle of everyone pretending like everything is good and okay around him, and his little look to the sky at the end is just everything.
R.I.P Terry
All about the music 🎶 then and dressing right Money, race, rich or poor didn't matter
It makes me sad looking back on the best days of my life
Enjoy the memories
I will 👍🏻
I know how you feel xx
Why be sad? Be happy we were around in that era. This makes me grateful 😍
❤️

It was nearly Christmas, hence the Christmas jumpers!
Rude Boi for life here. I remember playing this song and others on the way to local Live Ska gigs. I skanked my ass off. Love this era. As a black Rude Boy it was nice to see a mixed group i loved. RIP TERRY HALL
