"Always carry a disgorger" This makes me think of the reasons I would need a disgorger while going throughout my daily business. Walking around campus, when suddenly a fish hook appears in a student's mouth. I whip out my disgorger and knowledge of how to use it. I save the day, become a hero, and get A's without going to any of my classes for the rest of the semester. Hold on, I am going to go buy one now... you never know.
Thanks very much for posting as a new very old angler this will prove to be very useful information for me. Particularly when you say not to poke about inside because of the heart and lungs locations. So much more thought about not hurting the fish than there was fifty years ago is brilliant.
Cheers for this video, notice now many fisheries are asking for this equipment to be used. I had no idea how to use it as I am a novice. After watching this I have the idea now thanks :-)
Great video. I've got one that came with a tackle box I bought years ago but have never actually used it. I've always just used hemostats. This seems much easier and should cause less damage than the hemos can sometimes cause.
Hi Yeah this is exactly the same method, just dont prod around too much and really try to see where the hook goes into the stomach, you may have to apply a little more tension to the line to stop the hook going further down. With a little prctice you will have those hooks out and fish swimming away in no time.
I prefer to use a bit different aproach. I put the line on the groove and I slide it until it'll reach the hook. When the disgorger reaches the hook, I push it until the hook will be unhooked while, at the same time, I'll pull the line so that the hook will be 'secured' on the disgorger. More exactelly, after the hook leaves the place in which it was hooked, I pull the line so that the hook will remain 'attached' to the disgorger. To sum up, I slide the disgorger, unhook, tighten/pull the line/tense the line so that the hook will be secured on the disgorger. There are few types of disgorgers and different materials. I prefer those who are like the one showed in the video and those who are made from plastic. I tend to avoid the metalic ones as they seem a bit too.. 'sharp' for my tastes and for the fish safety and that's a posible risk to clip the line. Thanks for the video and tight lines!
+Andrew Potts Hi Andrew. I think I filmed this while the other FLE Coaches were running a session for disabled anglers on one of our coaching ponds. Looks like one of them has hooked into one of the many carp at the FLE Fishery.
Good video and tutorial!!
That fish is thinking "alright son, you got your demo done...mind throwing me back in now mate?!" lol

Good advice, I am no pro so I want to cause as little distress to the fish as possible.

Very clearly explained!!

Excellent man
Great tutorial. Thank you mate. From Canada.
Finally a decent video, much needed. Is this the same technique to use when tiny Perch swallow all the way to their stomachs?
Nice and clear video, thanks.
+Neil Harris no problem
That was helpful only question is how does that this work when a flathead is going nuts
Will this work on barb hooks too? Trout get wild and jump all over when i try to get a hook using forceps.
Thank you for this video

Great video!
What's happening behind you, that looks pretty interesting as well.

Where can I get one
Great Video mate!
Thank You Very much!
Cheers for the advice m8 it helped
+Jack Hartlebury Your very welcome
Can you use a disgorger on a barbed hook?
Axl Price yeah
OK but that fish was barley hooked. What if it's stuck in the gut?
" barley hooked", he caught it on barley?
He didn't mention that, is it relevant?
Did Ronny the Roach survive???? Will it be used in future films? Ha! Just funning brilliant for everyone.
Or in your hand
Mate, a close up would be helpful.
that won't work with circle hooks. what then?
They should never go down into the gut of a fish.
Modified chopsticks 😂
Could please help me identify this accent. Can anyone tell me what area this is. What you call this particular accent? Many thanks in advance.
