I really enjoyed this video. It brought back memories of when I was a kid. If you purchased a "Everything you need to fish" tacklebox it always included this hook remover. Forty-five years later I still have one and use it from time to time.

It's been close to 40yrs since i was shown how to use this thank you for explaining this process in such a way that is easy to understand.

These, and similar products, are fine and they do work. However, I find that an 8" pair of hemostats work just as well and are cheaper than a lot of the special purpose "Hook Removal" tools. Plus, hemostats prove very useful for many other purposes.

I had lost my hemostat and only had this from when I started fishing. I found them hard to use on a really small bluegill. There mouth were too small.
I have this tool but sometimes when you gut hook a fish the best option is to cut your line nd using pliers
pull the hook back out through the belly and feed it straight through and it will come out without any issue.
This also applies to the rare eye hooking or a stubborn hook in the cheek plate. The barb can make it near
impossible to remove without causing further damage to the fish.

Good instructional. I have watched several "how to use a hook remover" videos but they are always on live fish and you don't get to see exactly how the tool intetacts with the hook. It helps to see it on the hook. Thank you. ❤

Yes, the bigger one, but if the fish is too big, you should consider looking for another gadget which does the trick for big fishes...

It really depends on how you use it, but in rare cases, when the hook is too deep inside, it might happen...

Yeah....unfortunately, they don't work well with offset hooks
