Eventually, if you lose a ship, or any other item, without insurance you'll be SOL and JWF. It will be gone. Lifetime insurance never runs out but only covers the base hull of the ship and none of the modifications. Insurance fraud will also be punished and insurance can be voided, including LTI. It's why the insurance system exists and they can't give anything away for free or the economy will die. This likely won't matter until after the game reaches full release.

I don't think you can steal a soft death ship. It's functionally destroyed, so it's not going to do anything but sit there. You would need to EMP the ship to steal it.

You can get a starter pack and upgrade your ship down the line if you enjoy the game.
There won't be a full pirate loop until cs actually has an impact. At the moment it's at worst a mild inconvenience

or does the stolen ship disappear eventually? like can the pirate store it and reclaim it etc?

Are ships actually stealable after being disabled, can they be restored into operation or will they be disabled forever ?

Been thinking about jumping into SC but is it playable without a NASA pc and M&K? Or do you need rasputin and some flight sticks?
Flight sticks make it better but as long as your mouse has 2+ side buttons you will be fine.
