  • In part 1 of this 2-part Florida Keys shelling video pair, we attempt to find shells without snorkeling. It's well known that finding shells in the Keys is very difficult without going snorkeling, but we're up for the challenge and we attempt 2 different methods in this Part 1 that avoid snorkeling: 1) Checking the roadside bridges, parks, and beaches, 2) Using our boat to check out some of the shallow water and beaches surrounding one of the Gulf-side outer keys in the Lower Keys. Part 2 will be an upcoming episode where we follow others that have successfully found shells in the Keys and we go ahead and jump in the water and go snorkeling. Keep your eye out for that future Part 2 episode because we're going to give it our best shot to present a great haul of Florida Keys shells for you. As always, thanks for watching!

    Hey Chris and Kandie 👋🏻 Pretty cool video, I loved seeing all of the different beaches and the live shells 🐚❤️ the scenery was just lovely, thank you for taking us on a mini tour around Florida 🏖 The live Queen Conches were lovely, same with the live Vase shell. I’m pretty lucky in that the cowrie shells I come across have too small of an opening to be taken by crabs! I did enjoy the few shells that you got to keep; the black and white turbo was lovely! I really loved seeing Florida by boat: I’d been hoping for a boat episode since you mentioned it on your first episode… I can’t believe how clear, shallow, and calm the water is - so beautiful! I really enjoyed this adventure with you on such a beautiful day 🤗 Thanks for sharing it 🥰

      As always, thank you for the kinds words of support Maddie! You write the nicest feedback and we greatly appreciate it! Yes, you're very lucky so many of the amazing shells you find aren't taken by a crab, particularly those gorgeous cowries you find so many of. I hope one day we get to visit your area because the shells you find are just incredible. Hopefully we'll find some empty shells in part 2 of this Florida Keys adventure and will have more to share. Again, thanks for the lovely comments! Much appreciated!

    Nice video shell nuts!! I'm glad you have "beach time" too! You know about fire coral right? I was concerned with you picking up so many orange things!

    The small shell at 17:34 is a marginella shell! They are one of my favorites!

      Hi. Thanks for checking out our videos. My uncle who has lived in the Keys for most of his life introduced us to that spot and kindly asked me not to share it's name/location, but if you watch the video closely, and then you use Google maps or just search for parks in the Florida Keys, you can track it down. There are actually a number of places like that in the Keys that are not along the main road and have a cool assortment of life around them. Good luck in your adventures!

    How do you clean your shells?

    • @theshellnuts
      @theshellnuts  Рік тому

      Thanks for tuning in! Great question. It depends on the shell type. We're going to have an episode coming up soon (episode #12) where we discuss in great detail how we clean, restore, and protect various shell types.
