The story is that Robert ask Jason ( his god son ) to attend in his dads place. Jason told him he had a prier commitment so it was a complete surprise when he walked onto the stage. Seeing him is what brought Robert to tears. Jason wearing his dad's bowler hat and playing his drum set . Makes me tear up every time I watch it.

Let them tears fly brother... I've watched this video probably 50 times and the tears come every time. What a performance from everyone involved. I enjoyed your reaction.
Since you have not since Jason play before you really gotta see him play Kashmir as the drummer for Led Zeppelin. The last time Zeppelin played live and Jason gave it everything to impress his father Kashmir live at Celebration Day..

Hell that was my first time watching this it made my eyes water ! That was cool ! The choir had the same hats on as Jason honoring his Dad ! Extra cool !!!!
The backing band consists largely of well-respected studio musicians. You can spot sax virtuoso Blue Lou Marini on tenor sax. The lead guitar solo was performed by Shane Fontayne. Heart was one of very few bands that Led Zeppelin openly approved of covering their stuff. John Paul Jones has worked in the studio with Heart in the past. In live shows, Heart has performed every song off LZ's 4th album. In 1978, I saw Heart live and they encore'd with 'Rock and Roll.'
A ton of people participated and it's not the band Heart, just Ann and Nancy. But to your point, the Zep guys gave Heart their blessings as far as performing any of the Zep catalog live. A year after this performance Heart did a tour with Jason's band opening and Heart's set closed with set of Zep covers and Jason on drums. Ann and Nancy asked the Zep guys prior to that tour if they had their blessings to do it.
Good to see I'm not the only one who sheds a tear over emotional music. It's called empathy. When you've lived on the edge of society and somehow pulled through, you feel things more deeply. And that was some emotional performance and occasion. Of the three of them, it was Robert who was most emotional. The other 2 are consummate musicians, but Robert was always the lyricist, singer and the emotional heart of Led Zeppelin.
You should watch the complete tribute to LZ 'Led Zeppelin - Kennedy Center Honors (complete)' - several other performances before Heart, including Foo Fighters and Lenny Kravitz, and you get to see their reaction when Jason is introduced just before the introduction of Ann and Nancy
Jason played with Plant Page & Jones at the celebration concert, he learned all the songs, listening to all of them. He wasn’t sure what all they would play, & wanted to be prepared, he studied them to play just like his father. For the celebration concert within a short time, there were requests for 20 million tickets, so they did a lottery for only 20,000 tickets. There’s so many great interviews with band members, & with Jason, I’ve loved watching them. A funny one is Plant & Page interview Japan.
They got together late summer of (1968) & broke up in September of (1980), sadly when John Bonham passed away, they knew he couldn’t be replaced. Actually it was understood, if anyone quit or passed away, the band was done none could be replaced.
I just read a few days ago they were going to get Barry Barlow ,of the original Jethro Tull band to be the new drummer, but decided not to get back together. He would have been a great choice. Bhonam said Barlow was the best drummer to ever come out of England.
@@williambaldridge1203 I think Jimmy would really love to get back together, I think it’s Plant that doesn’t want to. I wish they would for some concerts, while the three are still alive.

The Kennedy Center Honors are hosted by the current president. I don't know if Trump actually attended though. The artisys never know who or what is going to hapoen. This same night, Carole King was honored and Aretha Franklin killed it at 73. I watched the entire Paul McCartney honors the other day. The whole thing is on there. Pink Floyd only had Syd fired in 1968 and then Roger fired Richard Wright after The Wall do to screwing up his attempt to produce the album. Roger is the only member who quit. Richard was brought back as a aide mand for Momentary Lapse, then officially rejoined the band. They officially broke up after his death. Heart used to play thus and Rock and Roll live in the 1970s.
The President and First Lady always host the Kennedy Center Honors - except Trump, because of the pandemic one year and who knows why the others. You should look for the full show on UA-cam, the emcee was Jack Black. This is an incredible cover. It's the layering; simple acoustic, add synths, soloist, orchestra, then chorus. More guitars, insane drumming, and why not the full choir in Bonham bowlers?! Look at the audience. From YoYo Ma to Bonnie Raitt, and how I wish I'd been there. Even up in the nosebleeds it must have been something that would sustain you for the rest of your life.

That was Jimmy Page in the audience he had just received an award. Honorary of the White House 2012. Oh my gosh, there was Robert Plant. Seen Led Zepplin in 1977
I totally understand your emotion! There was one person missing that night, but he was in everybody's thoughts and hearts. About Heart: when I discovered them late-seventies, they were already knowned for their fantastic Led Zeppelin covers, and everybody was agreeing that Ann was the only singer able to sing Plant like Plant. And she didn't lost it !!!
This & the original has made many men & women cry, it’s a beautiful song, having emotions is a really good thing. Heart are the only others to pull this song off, nobody does it like Led Zeppelin though.
This gets me every time. We get to the reveal of the second choir chines in, the tears must flow.
When you get plant teary eyed you know you done good. Jason and choir wearing bonzo's signature hat great.
Audience members rocking out include... Yo Yo Ma, Bonnie Raitt, Steven Colbert (and wife), Irene Cara, ...
I see Tommy by the Who in your window.....masterpiece. Watch the movie. Rock on dude.
Robert Plant is a tough dude. I am sure of it. And it made him tear up. So don't feel bad. Glad you appreciated the talent of our American gems, the Wilson sisters. They are among the best rockers ever. I got to see Heart once live, and they just TORE IT UP!
TRY THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SPECTRUM, OPERA SINGER LUCIANO PAVAROTTI SINGING NESSUN DORMA FROM PUCCINI OPERA TURANDOT. LUCIANO IS THE GOAT OF OPERA. IVE SEEN BIG FOOTBALL SIZE GUYS FROM TEXAS CRYING TO THE SONG!! TRY IT.

Obama and Big Mikey were in da house...
Jason played with Led Zeppelin for their “reunion”ish concert “Celebration Day”. Treat yourself!
Great tribute and great reaction... Hey, if you want to see Jason just kill it playing, react to Led Zeppelin's Kasmir Celebration Day 2007. Phenomenal
See, it's not my favorite. My favorite is Since I been lovin' you.
Lee, I'm wondering if you've listened to " Fire and Rain" by James Taylor. I know you appreciate thoughtful, meaningful lyrics❤
You have to listen to "Calvin Russell, Soldier, HD version, Live @ Contrabendo" (live in Paris), best regards from France 😉
I just had to look it up. Apparently the guitar solo was by Michael Barakan, "known as Shane Fontayne". He's credited with playing with a lot of groups/artists, but I found the Crosby, Stills and Nash connection particularly interesting.
I’m crying too! Seen this a hundred times♥️NEVER gets old.
I love Hart singing to honor Led Zeppelin, this was fantastic!👍👏👏👏💙
Tears here also, that was amazingly stunningly beautiful. 😍
Otgwrs who performed for LZ that night::Ja k Bla k also was there. In a surprise twist, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins sings lead vocals while frontman Dave Grohl takes the drum kit on "Rock and Roll." Kid Rock sings "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "Ramble On," and Lenny Kravitz performs "Whole Lotta Love." Honors Highlights of 2012 Honorees include bluesman Buddy Guy, actor Dustin Hoffman, comedian and television host David Letterman, ballerina Natalia Makarova, and rock band Led Zeppelin for their contributions to the arts.
Heart did a marvelous cover of the Immigrant Song.
This isn't really Heart, it's just marketed as that since Ann and Nancy are leading. But it's only Ann, Nancy, and Jason plus the stage band that the Kennedy Center brought in. But it is not the band Heart -- only two members out of 6.
Lee so Very glad you experienced this dedication and honoring of the Best Rock band ever! Quite a Special occasion being honored at the Kennedy Center! ❤( A ton of Famous people there-it’s right in Washington DC).
It’s just Amazing - Robert & Jimmys response and how moved they are! ❤❤❤
Have to tell you I Love your reaction!! I cry every time I see this! It’s a Legendary Moment in time!❤
People that are Moved by music are My kind of people!!!
Awesome. They've got some amazing songs was sad seeing you cry though. Hope you're OK
I really enjoyed this reaction too. Most people react to the same songs. Idk if it's a formula or what, but The 5th Dimension, 'Working On A Groovy Thing' is one of my favorites by them. It's fun and uplifting. It might even make you dance. 😉🤗
Lee, check it out: there are many videos with excellent musicians and stars being honored at the Obama White House! One in particular is when Sir Paul McCartney was honored and Dave Grohl (and other Foos) was the entertainment! Dave tore it up doing McCartney songs and it is a great video! I believe Obama also had Bruce Springsteen perform at the WH as well. Look it up!
Every time I see this I am moved........................
Had to laugh when you said you thought there might be other musicians involved.
Man...ive seen this about 25x and you just made me cry.🫢
