Completely agree. He was big in the early to mid 2000's (Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, Lucke Number Slevin etc.) - and now he suddenly is in Oppenheimer and this, and kills it in both movies.
The first half of this movie felt like a hitman game adaptation and I loved it. Scout area, take out person, no killing, change outfit, scout area, find intel, change outfit.... Then the second half came.
the most unbelievable thing to me is that Lady Raven would be willing to risk her own life for a stranger on his phone. That's far fetched that a Mega star would let a serial killer go through with her past the cops into her car and put herself at risk rather than not snitching on him there and then LOL. Surely if she told the cops they would of been able to have find the guy he had kidnapped. Furthermore the cops had no idea what The Butcher looked like so it would of made more sense for him to just go through the police search and more likely he would of been able to finesse his way out of it rather then exposing his identity to Lady Raven, that was truly idiotic.
Right. During that part I was like "easy decision, you scream your brains out and maybe that guy gets killed, but you caught a serial killer and ended all the butchering, duh" If the singer KNEW the guy that might make more sense. Like her brother or something.
Shyamalan loves his twists. So I thought the twist was going to be that the daughter was the serial killer and the father knows and is trying to protect her or something like that.
That legit just happened on a popular tv show so it wouldve been repetitive if that was the case. Wouldve been dope if the entire family was just a whole house full of serial killers though.
Shyamalan is actually bad director. He have one good movie, only because McAvoy made great performances in Split. Signs is not a good movie, awful script and execution. I am watching this movie only because of Josh Hartnett. Lucky Number Slevin is one of my favourites movies
Eeeeeh… not sure why people glom onto him after having fallen back after a few years; I thought he did some interesting stuff working with Guy Ritchy, but mostly he’s unremarkable
Say what you will about M. Night, but he keeps making unique films in a time when most of Hollywood are making generic blockbusters! Gotta give him props for that!
Its like a genies wish. Me: "I wish for original mainstream movies" Genie: "Granted. A director in Hollywood will give you original mainstream movies BUT most of them are going to be shit"
*Spoiler Alert* I just saw the film. In the stadium, Josh's character was considered an UNSUB. So, if no one knew what he looked like, he should have finished watching the concert with daughter and left.
@@rand_xcurse6884When the daughter was going through the gift bag that included 3 tattoos, he could have used them to tattoo over the tattoo on his wrist, at least making it convoluted enough to disguise it.
The cops could only question someone who agreed to it. You can’t just detain 3000 men on a tip. Shamalan has no clue about the 4th amendment, apparently. Anyway… if he’s so brilliant, couldn’t he ace the questions? “Hello sir. Do you kill people?” “Nope”
The movie falls apart as soon as the concert is over. And the director's daughter simply can't act... which hurts the movie almost as much as the script in the second half (which has you rolling your eyes very much). 4/10
@@love3-m4b Well, she was great as she's convincing in acting and stage performance. But, as you knew she's the director's daughter, it altered your jugement;

My exact same issues with the movie, Jeremy. Josh Hartnett at least killed it throughout but they should've kept it shorter and in the concert setting entirely. That was the entire selling point of the movie
“Watch the first half on streaming then stop.” Oh please let that be a new rating. Jeremy I have watched you ever since your Revenge of the Fallen review and you crack me the hell up. Thank you for all the awesome reviews, the laughs and the memories. I have recommended you to my buds for years and you are the best. Thank you man.
I appreciate M. Night because his movies are at least, interesting. They lack in execution a lot of the time, but the premise of his films makes me want to go see it regardless.
@@rafaelgaiarsa6448 You're not very attentive.14 of her songs are heard at varying lengths in the film: from a few seconds to the end credits. All songs range from good to excellent. @@Cut4entertainment Bro... she had 2 mobile phones in the toilet but told her driver to call the police rather than just call the police herself... or send the address to the FBI woman?!?!?!
@@Liquidator_ There was also a window in the bathroom that she could have broken through the phone out or smashed his phone but decided the movie was the dumbest thing I've ever seen
Here are several inconsistencies and unanswered questions I noticed in the movie. Perhaps you can make another video addressing these: (1) WHY is Cooper taking his daughter to a concert and leaving his wife and son at home? Wouldn't they all want to go to the concert together? (2) If police were tipped off by Cooper's wife, WHY didn't she give her name, address, etc? (3) If police knew the killer would be there, why not check people as they come in instead of on the way out? (4) If police found ticket receipt, couldn't they find out their seat location? (5) If Cooper's wife drugged him with the pie, why did the drugs have no affect, and allow him to keep going? Did the tazers neutralize the drug? (6) How could the police not notice Cooper removing the bike spoke and how could he remove the spoke so easily?
1) i think he only took the daughter because they had really good seats and it would be too pricey to take the whole family 2) since she did realize he was the butcher, im sure she realized her life would be in danger if she was the one who ratted him out since he has gotten away with 12 murders 3) i dont think the police knew he was going to the concert with someone, so in their eyes they believed if he saw the cop cars and everything he would turn and go away. Not knowing he was brining his daughter. 4) probably ripped just to see the name of the concert , nothing more because then possibly her daughter would be in danger? 5) i think since they are his medication maybe he just has a higher tolerance ? and it seemed she didn’t put too much just sprinkled on the bottom which there was enough to where he could slip his fingers through it and leave a mark 6) they wanted him alive not dead, so im guessing when he moved the bike it just seemed like it was his OCD acting out. Idk about any of this these are just what i was thinking 😂😊
As far as number 3 goes, it’s explained that all she found was his planning house there was no bodies, no blood, nothing. So she didn’t actually KNOW what the house was for. She ripped the ticket in half, obviously ripping the part with their seats on it. She presumed he was some kind of killer, so she left the ticket there and reported it, so that when the cops found it they would investigate and either prove him innocent or catch him.
I thought it was dumb that he had a shirt on to hide the spoke in the first place. Wasn’t he shirtless when he maimed an agent and got tazed? Implausible that they would let such a dangerous freak and the most wanted man in America get up and put his shirt back on before chaining him up.
1:03 It's said that whenever M. Night Shyamalan makes a film, the Gods flip a coin into the air, and the world holds its breath to see how it will land.
And what is ironic is I watched a different review that said the third act is the best part of the movie. So either Jeremy is wrong or that review is wrong.
A LOT of movies are effective in the build-up department, then don’t know what to do with it. It makes sense as a common take on the Hollywood industry.
Especially since we as the audience had questions the whole time. Why did he risk going back to his wife for petty vengeance? Why did he let the Lady Raven leave? Why does he see ghosts of his mother? Was the FBI lady his mother? If not, why frame it that way in the doorway?? Why is he laughing after getting locked up in the vehicle? What does he plan to do next after the credits end? SO MANY GODDAMN QUESTIONS !!!
@@batmanvsuperman_ Well obviously he's laughing because he's got more tricks up his sleeve (literally) to escape. As to the other stuff: He went back to his wife because he figured out she must have tipped off the police, he let the singer leave because he wasn't going to run over his kids or murder Raven in front of them, the fbi lady reminds him of his mother because she can profile him the way his mom understands him. I thought the movie was just ok after they leave the concert, but I wasn't left confused by anything
@@jonseon5952 More tricks up his sleeve like what? Getting caught soon as he steps out to 15 more FBI trucks ??? He himself said this is the end of his rope. Last one and he’s done with living. Now that his daughter & family are gone… what does he have to go back for? Why let Lady Raven escape the limo?? He could lock the doors from the front, drive off, ANYTHING but sit there reactionless. Mother & FBI lady dialogue is nothing alike. His mother says “you’re not a monster” - meanwhile FBI lady just states common sense facts about how he operates, nothing moral is mentioned.
He does that twice this year. Last month when his eldest daughter (I think) released a movie produced by him and distributed by Warner Bros and now this one where he's promoting his daughter as a pop singer
There was one scene that had me completely confused that i thought would be explained later in the movie but never was. Its when Cooper went into the employee room where a swat team was grouped up listening to the leader talk about how imperitive it is to find the butcher, and he starts passing through them, saying to them that hes just trying to get some coffee, but the coffee area was around the corner and through a big group of people from where he was when he said it, so i have no idea how he knew there was going to be a coffee machine right there. Then, one of the swat guys asks cooper where they keep the sugar. He makes up that one of the other employees was supposed to restock it, so he gets in a cabinet underneath and immediately pulls out the sugar without having to look for it for even a second or check any other cabinets, it was in the first one he opened, and he refers to it as "his own stash". It just felt like he knew exactly where both the coffee station and the sugar were without ever seeing them before. I thought we were gonna learn that Cooper had been in that room before for whatever reason, like he broke in some time before the concert and set up contingincy plans to escape the arena because he knew there was going to be a trap or something like that, but it was just never explained. Also another scene that bugged me was when Cooper went to the Shake Shack or whatever it was, went behind the counter, somehow walked up to the friers (which were right behind the counter where everyone could see them), picks up two big glass bottles of canola oil (which, again, were also right behind the counter in plain view of the employees and customers), puts the full bottles into the frier without it seeming to affect the level of the oil that was already in there, turns up the temp on the frier, and walks out without a single person seeing him do any of this. It isnt shown or explained how he gets away with this, nor does it address the fact that he would have been caught in plain view on the security cameras, which police would have absolutely watched considering someone got severly hurt from the incident. Theyre gonna wanna look and see how two full unopened bottles of oil ended up in there. Why the FBI didnt immediatly go back and watch the footage to see what happened and who did it is beyond me. The head fbi lady even said that the butcher would try to use chaos as a distraction, but they never go back and look at who caused that particular chaotic distraction.
Lol yeah those moments definitely took the biggest suspension of disbelief. The concept itself is silly so I just went with it. None of it really stands up to scrutiny. He just happened to talk to Lady Raven’s Uncle. Nobody saw him push lady down stairs. Couldn’t the cops find out what seats they were in by the receipt? At the very least what section based on price?
@@shinycheeto5779The wife ripped the receipt, ripping the part with the seats on it off because she wasn’t sure he was the killer so didn’t wanna give them a direct line to Cooper, she wanted them to investigate and actually prove it was him and that he had done something illegal.
As far as the first one goes, he was winging it. It’s exactly what you see. Cooper’s a psychopath who plans murders. He didn’t know the coffee was there, he saw it as he began walking through. He was looking for a way out, information, anything and this happened to be what he stumbled upon. It was a risk undoubtedly, but a calculated one. The best place to hide is in plain sight. Any SWAT officer in the group who sees him in the future now goes “hey I saw that guy directly walk by us without a care in the world, he’s not suspicious”. And in almost every office/coffee station in the US atleast - sugar, cutlery etc. is stored in a lower cabinet.
Better twists than we got. 1. Josh Hartnet was not the killer. He was being manipulated by the killer. 2. After kidnapping the singer at night, turns out she's a werewolf and that this was the real trap. 3. Bruce Willis was a ghost the entire time.
I was honestly hoping it was his daughter that was the killer and he was doing everything in his power to A.) let her satiate that bloodlust and B.) protecting her so she wouldn't get caught.
That overly talkative vendor was the real killer, and this entire movie takes place in his dream. He wakes up, and Paul Allen’s business card strangles him.
@heroicsquirrel3195 aye, a spoiler free review. That’s how I gauge if a film is good, listen to reviews and word of mouth. Also I avoided the trailers as I do with all horror films. It’s my fault for reading the comments I suppose
And what is ironic is I watched a different review that said the third act is the best part of the movie. So either Jeremy is wrong or that review is wrong.
Josh was incredible, he did a great job. But you’re so right about it ending as soon as they leave the stadium. I feel like the movie ended and I was just like …okay? So? Like idk I felt kind of nothing in the end especially since I was expecting a classic twist too 🤷♀️
Honestly, the main actor carried the movie, Josh Hartnett is really good in the few films that I've seen him in and this is no different. Was the movie spectacular? Nah, was it entertaining? Yeah It was, maybe not much of a thriller as I hoped for, but it was rather different.
I feel like so many thriller/horror movies miss on the endings nowadays. They come up with a great concept, intriguing trailers that make you want to see it, a banger first half of the film... and then the ending falls flat. I've seen this time and time again, most recently was Longlegs. it's like the writers get wrapped up in the premise and the ending is an afterthought.
I was waiting for “THE TWIST” and was kinda disappointed by what it was revealed to be, unless the VERY LAST SCENE was supposed to be “THE TWIST” But I agree with what you said about the dialogue not feeling natural. Characters giving random information away that is SUPER CONVENIENT for Josh Harnett’s character was SUPER video game-y Also, the singer being the focal point of the third act instead of the profiler did smell of M. Night saying “I’m the director, my daughter gets to be the hero!” But honestly? I enjoyed it. It was refreshing to have a Shamalayn film that didn’t have anything supernatural or extraterrestrial. Just an interesting idea that plays like a playground “what if?” ***slight spoiler*** The ending does set up a potential sequel, and you know what would be fun? A Mr. Brooks situation. Whatever mental condition Josh Harnett’s character has turns out to be hereditary, and one or both of his kids starts developing his “urge” as he put it. That would be an interesting follow up.
M. Night has just as many hits as he does misses, but to his credit, his hits are usually bullseyes, and he always at least aims big and tries to make something unique.
Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs are some of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Split is good, but only because of McAvoy’s performance (and Anya Taylor-Joy to a lesser extent). The Visit was alright. Just about everything else the man has done ranges from bad to ‘one of the worst movies I’ve seen’. Knock at the Cabin was atrociously bad. I don’t know what happened to the guy but I’m starting to think it’s possible he had three all time classics in a row that were somehow all flukes.
@flippalovell I really liked Split. One of his best, in my opinion. The Visit was decent. Devil was pretty underrated, imo. I enjoyed Old a lot. And this new one was very good, imo. All of the others... yeah, I may have to agree. Unless I'm forgetting some.
Finally saw it last night, and I think Josh Hartnett CRUSHED it. I see what you meant about some of the awkwardness/stiffness, but my impression was that it was 100% deliberate, and lent itself perfectly to the story. I'm a fan of this one.
This movie is one of those where the preview felt sufficient -- that is, we saw everything we wanted from the preview, it was fun, and we're reasonably sure that's all we need from it -- 2 minutes of run time was just about perfect, thank you.
I agree with you completely. Never seen a bigger tone shift in a movie ever. First half is solid as hell and then they shit their pants for 45 minutes.
It feels like several of the M. Night movies get halfway to great and then spin out of control. Thought exercise: Name a director who could mentor/team up with him to wrestle these almost-there movies to the finish line. There are probably many directions this could go, but I'll start with a wilder one in Wes Anderson. A successful director who also has dialogue that sounds stilted but somehow works. Wes also has movies that break through into the absurd but again somehow still work. It could also be the introduction of Wes Anderson into Thriller/Horror!
Yes, Josh Hartnett definitely carried the movie! Had to ignore the acting of the singer, but otherwise the length and pacing actually felt good. You mention how it would have been good to show the chase between the FBI profiler and Josh Hartnett, but then that would just make this an episode of Criminal Minds. I did rather enjoy how they showed his relationship with his family, especially with his wife and his daughter. Lastly, I had 0 expectations for this movie, I just watched it for Josh Hartnett. But ended up loving it and recommding to friends to see it. 😊
Are we just going to ignore the fact that the crowd of people heard Raven yell help me, knew something was up, surrounded the limo literally right up against it.....and somehow he was able to change out of the riot gear and into street clothes, open the door and he slip out and blended in with all the all the civilians .... who were up against the limo knowing something is going down inside.... The movie was way better than i thought itd be. I was pleasantly surprised. It was the most normal movie Knight ever made. Not even any real twists. Which is a good thing. For the first half of the movie i wasnt even sure the dad was a serial killer. Did a great job making you question what was going on.
So great seeing Josh Hartnett back! Always loved him. Unfortunately this felt like a made for tv movie, like most of M. Night's work, it just never feels like a movie if that makes sense. Something always seems off, unpolished, just not quite there yet.
I root for M. Night, even tho he isn't my jam anymore. This is an example of what I'd call an old school "event" movie. It has hyped itself up so much because it's made to be seen with groups of people. When people enter a theater from a trusted director, they know they're in for a good time, and they get to experience that together. M. Night is one of the few people still doing this. As for the type of movies, I could only compare him to Jordan Peele. Anyway, I like M. Night, and I think audiences will pretty much love this, so I think with this movie, he's finally going to shake off his reputation of being a semi-competent, hit-and-miss director. Finally, his name is now a draw again. He has fulfilled his high of being at the top of the game again. He's been making movies for the masses for some time now, but at some point, his filmmaking is going to get more personal again. So I just wonder what we'll see at that point.
When you talk about the dialogue, it reminds me of when I watch English dubbed foreign films. Like a simple "yeah" becomes "yes. I would like that very much."
This is excellent, put yourself into that mindset, this guy is completely detached from humanity, he emulates how the people around him are acting. We're seeing through his lense, people seem fake. So he's acting as he sees people. I loved this movie and think it will become more appreciated over time. Even seeing how this guy slips through the cracks, shows how resourceful he is. It has happened in real life like that before. I loved the end of the movie - possibilities of a sequel.
Respectfully, in a movie that has a serial killer trapped at a concert by the fbi, the singer at the concert shouldn't have a substantial role. The cat- and-mouse between cop and killer should've been the only goal post in the second half
What I like is how the lead fbi agent lady is the villain from our pov but actually she’s a really good detective, so why was her character so chilling? That was fresh
For everyone who watched this review. When you talk to your kids in years to come, you will say, "I was there, when Jeremy Jahns created a new rating value in his rating scale off the top of his head."
@@Eatos_17 Yeah, now that you mention it, I think he could pull off a good Harvey Dent. I could see him the way he was in Lucky Number Slevin or this film 'Trap'.
Josh Hartnet was awesome in the series "Penny Dreadful". Such a great, well done, horror/suspense ride once you accept and get over the unlikely mash-up of almost every gothic horror story. That it works is a testament to the wonderful writing, acting and quality production.
Im from Uzbekistan and Ive watched it in russian translation in my hometown cinema in Tashkent city mall on 12.08.2024 at 13:45! I dont know about you Sir but I love that movie and songs were awesome..., especially ending was so cool! Now I am antisipating second part! As always thank you for your honest review
His daughter not being able to act on camera checks out. The skills necessary to perform on stage have zero translation to on-set close up acting. Everything is bigger when you are in a big venue so I imagine switching to close up acting either is they aren't told about the switch and the mental prep for that and they end up looking goofy or they are, and their instinct as a performer dries up, they end up looking subdued and awkward
I get that Shyamalan needed his daughter to boost her singing career but yeah, he could've just get someone who can both sing and act very well. Hailee Steinfeld could've been a better choice for that
@@800Ms-k6n Or he could have just given her minimal screen time other than the on stage parts. That would have been a much better way to boost her singing career.
Saw it, I didn't hate it. Yes, the dialogue was like watching an NPC give information (especially the Profiler going through all of her reasoning over the radio to the entire law enforcement team), yes there were multiple (many) instances of just complete incompetence by the cops that even with heavy criticism of law enforcement would never happen, and yes, Shamylan apparently has never been to a concert (halls were packed during the show?). But it was fun in the sense that I was always wondering "how will he get out of this one?" And Josh Hartnett absolutely made the movie. Even when he wasn't the only one in the shot, he was the only one I was watching because his constant internal struggle between killer/father came through in his expressions and it was fun to watch. Glad to see he's making a comeback but I was reminded yet again of just how BIG he is in real life.
So John Rocha was saying that they apparently didn't screen this to ANYONE except people doing immediate press for the movie because it had such a massive twist... I think that kinda warped my expectations a bit but overall I enjoyed the movie. Like you said the first act is definitely SUPER strong and the rest feels weaker, but overall incredible performance from Josh Hartnett. Shymalan does do a REALLY good job getting great performances out of actors IMO between this, Split, and Knock at the Cabin.
Review of M. Night Shyamalan's Trap I was genuinely looking forward to seeing what Shyamalan had up his sleeve this time. When I first heard the concept of Trap, I thought it could turn out to be quite a cool movie-at least on paper. Sadly, that’s where the intrigue ends. What followed was a nonsensical mess that left me scratching my head, utterly dumbfounded at the sheer ridiculousness of it all. The film's plot is so absurdly unrealistic that it obliterates any sense of immersion. You could overlook bad acting, weak set design, or off-kilter music if the story held up, but Trap is so riddled with holes that it feels like nobody cared whether anything made sense. The level of implausibility is staggering. Watching the movie, I constantly found myself asking: "How can this be so incredibly stupid?" The biggest offender? The treatment of the film's "megastar" singer, who appears to be a Beyoncé-level figure. Somehow, this global icon is allowed to wander around with a random guy backstage, despite there being a mass murderer loose in the same stadium. It’s laughably absurd. Imagine one of the most famous people on the planet, completely unsupervised, next to a killer. Where are the cameras? The security? The logic? None of it makes sense, and that’s just one of the many ridiculous scenarios the movie presents. It’s hard to express just how fundamentally flawed the plot is because it defies even the most basic logic. Everything feels coincidental and thoughtless, as if the story was thrown together without any consideration for how things actually work in the real world. The sheer lack of believability destroys any potential the film might’ve had as a thriller. And that's a real shame because you can tell a lot of hard work went into making this movie. But when the core of the story is broken, everything else falls apart. Let’s not even get started on the absurdity of the film’s "villain." At one point, this guy seems to turn into a magician, teleporting from one place to another and somehow managing to blend in with the SWAT team by magically changing into their uniforms. Speaking of the SWAT team, they-and the police-are portrayed as the most incompetent, slow, and clueless bunch I’ve ever seen in a movie. It’s almost comedic how dumb they are, but this isn’t a comedy. For comparison, the police in Hot Fuzz look like geniuses next to these lot, and that’s saying something. The cherry on top? Shyamalan seems to have made this movie just to trap us all into listening to his daughter sing. Even that aspect of the film falls flat, as the singing isn’t particularly great either. It feels like a vanity project disguised as a thriller, and the audience is left trapped in an experience that could have been so much more. In conclusion, Trap is an earth-shatteringly bad film when it comes to story, plot, and execution. There's no saving grace here, and the title feels painfully appropriate-because it sure felt like I was trapped while watching it.
To me, the idea of the FBI “knowing the killer will be there” because of a ticket stub, is utterly ridiculous: what if he stayed home, and Mom took the daughter? Then, they let hundrds of potential suspects ENTER THE BUILDING, and *then* start pulling people out of seats. NOT before, despite the cops having every entrance covered. This movie was as thought-out as one of Trump’s incoherent “speeches” which are nothing but lunatic-fringe rants. A reasonably intelligent 12-year old could poke holes throughout this turkey.
The part I still find to extremely dumb is also part in the trailer, where the employee exposition dumps the whole plan that is supposed to be TOP SECRET.
not really, normal people tend to slip up more than you think. That's why most of the time misdirection is needed for something like that to work. But I agree with Jeremy's take on this though, Josh carried the whole film. The acting of the other parts, save maybe his wife, were stiff.
It made zero sense in the trailer .. in the film tho he showed he was a good person at heart, employee is really sensitive to seeing kindess in the world, so he let his guard down cause "well this guy is an upstanding gentlemen"
What's with all the hate? This movie is so entertaining. My wife and i were drinking and we never talked just for once, we were not distracted. Keeps us on the edge.
We did a random selection for our thriller family movie night and watch this last night. It definitely has some OK elements but so immensely like a video game especially the profiler talking through the walkie-talkie. I thought some of Josh Hartman’s facial expressions were spot on, but never felt like he was a threat to anyone in the movie for how bad of a person, he was supposedly portrayed. I personally love the village and think it’s one of his most underrated movies.
Unbreakable is one of my old time fav movies. The six sense was also very good. Other then those 2 films, every M. Night movie has been bad or mediocre.

If the singer KNEW the guy that might make more sense. Like her brother or something.
Maybe she knew that his daughter loved Lady Raven a lot and he would not do anything crazy to disappoint his daughter

That legit just happened on a popular tv show so it wouldve been repetitive if that was the case. Wouldve been dope if the entire family was just a whole house full of serial killers though.

*Spoiler Alert*
I just saw the film. In the stadium, Josh's character was considered an UNSUB. So, if no one knew what he looked like, he should have finished watching the concert with daughter and left.
I think due to the fact they were questioning people also he had a tattoo. At the same time he had child with more excuse for him to leave.
“Hello sir. Do you kill people?”
“Nope”
The movie falls apart as soon as the concert is over. And the director's daughter simply can't act... which hurts the movie almost as much as the script in the second half (which has you rolling your eyes very much). 4/10

He doesn't do breakdowns but I'm sure you can find a channel that does.
She said she left a partial receipt. So they knew he would be there but didn’t know where

Because there are thousands of great premises floating around Hollywood.... it's extremely rare to stick the landing. It's the hardest part.
I was waiting for “THE TWIST” and was kinda disappointed by what it was revealed to be, unless the VERY LAST SCENE was supposed to be “THE TWIST”
But I agree with what you said about the dialogue not feeling natural. Characters giving random information away that is SUPER CONVENIENT for Josh Harnett’s character was SUPER video game-y
Also, the singer being the focal point of the third act instead of the profiler did smell of M. Night saying “I’m the director, my daughter gets to be the hero!”

3:50 your NPC is awesome as good as the paladin in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

As always thank you for your honest review
Love the idea of a new rating
His daughter not being able to act on camera checks out. The skills necessary to perform on stage have zero translation to on-set close up acting. Everything is bigger when you are in a big venue so I imagine switching to close up acting either is they aren't told about the switch and the mental prep for that and they end up looking goofy or they are, and their instinct as a performer dries up, they end up looking subdued and awkward
I get that Shyamalan needed his daughter to boost her singing career but yeah, he could've just get someone who can both sing and act very well. Hailee Steinfeld could've been a better choice for that
Oh it's the Dear Evan Hansen thing again
@@800Ms-k6n Or he could have just given her minimal screen time other than the on stage parts. That would have been a much better way to boost her singing career.
Then don't cast your daugher if you're going to need her to act? It shouldn't be that difficult.
Loved the first half, wish it was longer in the concert section.
The profiler was actress Hayley Mills daughter of Sir John Mills
I wish the WHOLE MOVIE took place in that concert :(
He never went down that ladder.
The first half was garbage. The 2nd half was dumpster fire.
3:02 Mr. Beast
MISTURRR BEEEEEAST
Gotta give it to M. Knight, now we have a new Jeremy rating
I waited the entire movie for the big signature Shymalan twist .. it was so tiny 😐
Lame twist.@@batmanvsuperman_
Trap sounds like the biography of Admiral Ackbar.
Dawn of the Trap: A Star Wars Story
Review of M. Night Shyamalan's Trap
I was genuinely looking forward to seeing what Shyamalan had up his sleeve this time.
Watching the movie, I constantly found myself asking: "How can this be so incredibly stupid?"
The biggest offender?
That Game NPC sequel you did was GOLD! 😂
5:33 Nah nah, I’m 24 and have no idea who the daughter is. No middle-aged Jeremy slander 🙏🏽
That's why her dad made a promotional concert video (movie) for her. 😆
To be fair I didn't even know he had kids😂
A Shyamalan movie that surprised me. Well the GOAT obviously... The Happening!!!
Good choice on CCR jeremy hard to find music like that now a days

Why did you call me out like that Jeremy?! Going to go see Deadpool again tomorrow 😂
That video game re enactment- almost spit out my drink. Glad you can be counted on for an honest review!
The NPC bit was hilarious
at least his daughter in the film would call him out on that lmao
I think the dialog is intentional by the director. It's his style. I think it's cool and gives all his movies an extra creepy factor.
He does troubled serial killer dialogue very well. Ending scene with his shirt off reminded me of Split
I like it too tbh. I know some don't like it but it doesn't bother me. I really liked it in Signs, Split & The Visit.
No hope you think that GoT game is any good 😂😂
Nope but i bet that paycheck was and at the end of the day i think we all want Jeremy to make good money from doing this.

It’s an Ad, I promise you he’s never played this game. The paycheck though will definitely help his personal life though.
Unbreakable is one of my old time fav movies. The six sense was also very good. Other then those 2 films, every M. Night movie has been bad or mediocre.
