Honestly, to hell with that restore thing. This army of the dead film was better than anything he did with dc. This is what you get when you working in healthy enviroment, without studio exec's toxicity and constant supervising.
Would be great if someone could ask him about all the unanswered questions and loop holes in this movie. As great as it was, but seriously some stuff needs answering.
AOTD reshoots are not only better than Joss Whedon's Justice League reshoots with the terrible coloring and removal of Henry Cavill's mustache, but also very similar to the Ridley Scott's reshoots on All the Money in the World, where Scott replaced Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer by reshooting all 22 scenes with their character, John Paul Getty Sr and Plummer was more age appropriate for the character than Spacey was.
Personally, I hate the effect. I first saw it in the additional scene Zack shot for ZSJL. The blurring is too much for me, and my brain gets frustrated from being unable to focus on what it wants to see. Maybe the preference for this kind of shot is acquired. And maybe I'll learn to like it too. But that remains to be seen. 🤷🏻♂️
From what I’ve seen from his BTS on other films, Zack goes around the set with a Pentax 67, which is a medium format film camera. I own one and that thing is crazy amazing. In medium format an f/2.4 lens is equivalent to f/1.2 on a 35mm film or digital camera, so you get a really narrow depth of field and an awesome bokeh. I think he fell in love with that. I do also believe he’s going through a phase where he’s experimenting, which is great, he’s taking risks in order to try to find something new. In photography that narrow depth of field works wonders, on a movie I have no idea, I haven’t watched it yet. At some point he might have thought he found them useful to convey a feeling, like he said in the interview, of claustrophobia.
Look how healthy my man looks without WB.
toby getting fired an hamada is on his way if he don’t play ball with us so things are going according to plan. zack will be back

Zack is the real superhero behind the camera!
Snyder shot and replaced an entire character in a movie and people couldn't tell.
Joss whedon couldn't remove a moustache properly.
Two completely different films, studios, and circumstances.
To be honest there are 2 or 3 scenes where u can tell she doesn't fit with surrounding in the movie
Great Interview, as usual, Kev. Zack truly is one of the great directors of today. Can't wait to see this movie.
Can’t wait to see this on the big screen this Thursday!
They’re releasing the first 15 minutes on UA-cam tommorow.
You are a great interviewer. Loved all the technical stuff you asked and the way Zack replied with great enthusiasm.

"Did the thin depth of field help you with the replacement of Tig?"
VFX artist when doing a camera track on 95% blurred take: "Am I a joke to you?"
Cool interview

I'm not usually a fan of blurry camera work like that that hurts my eyes but didn't bother me in this movie. I can't wait to watch it again.

It's not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for not being super toxic and just explaining why you don't care for it
