Smallville helped me see the importance of how to treat people. The whole production was such a success, and there has never been a better Clark, or lex.

Near the end of this Pod Michael mentioned how cool it would be to have Tom play Superman. When Smallville wrapped I had this fan idea or hope that the studio would make a spin off series called Metropolis that would continue on from Smallville but telling Tom's Superman story moving forward. This could be done now in movie form but it would only work if Michael (Best Lex Ever) Rosenbaum, Erica (Best Lois ever) Durance also reprized their roles. Hopefully Michael reads these comments because this is food for thought that he could pass on to Tom. I am one of your Australian fans & I never missed an episode of Smallville when it aired. It was a very rare series in the regard that from Season 1 all the way to Season 10 the quality never seemed to drop in the writing or execution of the story. It had a fantastic beginning, middle & end. Thanks, It meant so much to this fan.
This was fun to listen to. I was surprised to hear Tom say he'd be open to playing Superman and kind of hope something might come of that, as it would be great to see. One of the most frustrating parts about watching Smallville was the reluctance to take that last step. And then his appearance in "Crisis" where he's Clark, but had given up his powers was just like... "Of course he did..."
I think he's the only cameo to give up their powers in the Arrowverse. I thought, "you're talking to a Lex but are no longer Superman. That doesn't work." Not to mention Lois wouldn't allow that, but I guess all for "different Earth/timeline" sake.

I hate to admit this but it makes sense. Clark (atleast in smallville) always wanted to be normal. That was the major strife in his relationship with Lana which kind of spurred the toxicity. Being human was something Clark always wanted.
Just started Smallville about two weeks ago, and I’m already on season 3! Totally obsessed! Yours and Toms relationship is one of my favorite parts! Can’t wait to listen to this! Happy Holidays!!!
Season 3 is the Lionel Luthor climax !! He was my favorite villain back then, so charismatic !! I loved John Glover, and in french, he had such a badass french dubbing.
I love the way Tom talks about being a father, so sweet! It’s hard work but it’s worth it and brings so much joy into your life. It’s sad as a society how much people look down on children and being a parent. It’s a great blessing and it’s awesome when people like Tom talk about it so earnestly.
I love the entire cast of Smallville. Tom was a fantastic Clark Kent and Michael was the best Lex in the history of Superman. Kristen as Lana of course was also amazing. You're all awesome, thanks for this episode.
Am 54 years old, watched Smallville when it first came out with my son and now again with my daughter who is 10 years younger. I appreciated it so much more the 2nd time. It has to be one of the greatest shows ever. Story lines were on point, acting was fantastic.
That "Transference" episode was so good and well choreographed especially with the acting with John Glover giving a convincing Clark Kent performance especially opposite Annette O' Toole's Martha Kent. That scene felt like a quick acting class lesson. Some of the my favorite episodes are Rosetta, Transference, Onyx, Absolute Justice.
I see smallville every year and I have to say it’s still my favorite show ever. It’s so well done, great actors great story lines! I love how it ended!
Damn Tom being positive about his kids was awesome and Michael really wanted him to bite! really shows how the casting of these two was perfect for their roles.
Been watching Smallville since it was released with my children who are now in their 20’s we loved the show. Down loaded it on Apple ITunes now watching it again! All the best from UK.
When I was growing up with socially anxiety and I couldn't spend time with the friends that was real, I was always excited to see Smallville each week when it was on, after every mid season break and in-between seasons. I sat down to watch everyone of my favourite characters, the relationship that each character had with others gave me something that I could do myself. With the help of Smallville with all the different storylines that was relatable. I did feel like an alien to hide myself from the world just because I felt different, and Smallville helped me understand that even being different is not a bad thing. Thanks for the storylines and my heroes in my eyes.
Omg that is so sweet. I was same way as u ...Smallville helped...but the kids and people are mean mostly in the world so I it didn't bother me much plus the present days now kids and people are so mean to each other..the world would be better if everyone was nice to each other it would also save many lives ..like life of the lady who was shot in head by someone just walking up, kids and people would not have to worry about drive by shootings or opening their front door, kids would not get killed by their parents , parents would not be killed by their kids, school shootings would not happen, kids would not kill themselves due to bullies....ect. The world would be peaceful and safer 4 everyone.
I've got the new blu-ray set. I started watching it for the 17th time. The show is still #1 on my list. The whole reason I started watching Michael's podcast, well that and impastor. I've followed all their careers. I've watched every show Kristen, Erica, etc. have been in since. I loved them so much in smallville that I promised to always support their careers. Great actors and from I've seen of them on podcasts like this they're great people as well. Much love to you, Mr Rosenbaum. Keep up the great work!
watched this 2 or 3 times already and realize seeing Tom and just watching him and listening to him talk, i have a smile on my face the whole time. thanks for having him always.
Tom Wellings is the reason I have troubles seeing other people as Superman because he did such an amazing job. I'm not saying that because he was (I mean he was) But I mean was he became Superman. When he went through the show, I feel like we grow with the characters which was amazing. Overall still my favorite T.V Show. Right next to Supernatural. Smallville was also my get away when I was being abuse at home. The character Clark Kent made me feel like there was hope for good and justice will eventually come to those who deserve it. The show taught me so much. I loved all the characters did a fantastic job at what they did. My husband has to remind me every time I see Michael Rosenbuam that he a real person so hate the character not the person. But that's what I mean. The cast they got to play was amazing.
I loved this episode so much. You and Tom together have such a healing energy. It just emanates off you two being in the room together. This is also so healing for me to know you and Tom are friends in real life. Watching the destruction of the relationship on Smallville between your characters broke my heart. ♥
watching your podcast is the equivalent of when I was a boy and my dad was driving the family home and I could sleep soundly in the back of the car with no issues. (that warm, cozy feeling) lol. you guys are rockstars. best podcast out there in my opinion. you the man, Rosie
I fucking love you guys. It feels like watching my brothers I haven't seen in years, yet just yesterday. Miss you guys on my screen daily. For a decade you were a HUGE part of my life. Love to see you still interact with each other. Keep it up. Been watching you for a couple years, Rosey. I'm still single, btw ...waiting for you to show up. In 2000 ...you were the man of my dreams.
VHS!! My dad, whom raised me, grew up watching the original Superman. He bought me my first comic books. While I was in college he would tape Smallville episodes and never watch them until I got home. We would binge watch them before streaming was a thing on my breaks. Eventually I bought the complete boxset so my stepmom and him could enjoy all of the episodes which they bonded over before they were married. Just came across this podcast and really enjoyed the interaction. Thanks for the great memories and the inspiration to become involved with film. Wishing you both continued success on and off camera.
This is wild, I just found your channel a day after I decided to watch Smallville again for that sweet nostalgia hit. I was obsessed with the show as a teenager and absolutely love you and Tom, incredible show and wonderful memories
Still watching smallville i never could finish the seris i had watched it when i was a teen and hadn't gotten a chance to complete the series i've started watching it again and i can tell im going to love the rest of the season its been great so far happy holidays everyone
Ive just discovered this podcast and I love it! Michael you are a great interviewer. It's great listening to artists talk about thier experieces in a very human way. Im 48 now and felt inspired to watch Smallville...again! Love the Lex/Clark relaitionshop. Right, time to crack open some wine and chill with the smallville gang ❤
Likewise. I especially love how Michael can add an anecdote or perspective on a topic without making it "all about him" or taking over the interview to the point his subject can't speak. It's a rare talent.
38:28 - my wife and I are going through Smallville for the first time 20 years on, and just watched Transference the other night. Tom, we both commented on how well you portrayed Lionel in that episode! The little clicks of the jaw, the two-arms-out lean against the car window when talking to Lex, the gait of your walk - there were so many little things you did to portray "this is Lionel inside Clark's body" that we thought really made those scenes.
I (and millions of others) would watch the balls off a come-back series featuring these two fine gents. Just to see Tom in the full getup and Michael reclaim his role as the best live-action LL to exist would be internet-breaking. Please… please make it happen…
I grew up watching smallville with my dad - I’m 24 now so I had to be like 4 or 5 but I have vivid memories of watching this show. I restarted it recently and I’m not gonna lie I was thinking it probably wouldn’t age well and I was kinda prepared for that but honestly it’s still so good!!! Definitely a comfort show for me next to Star Trek tng. I love the way the storytelling is formatted. I also can really appreciate now the way Michael Rosenbaum played lex, seriously so good
It's so great to get to watch this, I loved Smallville. Thank you all for taking the time to do this. I loved what Tom said about the camera, how it doesn't bother him, I think that's rare. Of all the Smallville characters, I think Lex had the best lines.
I'm so thankful for you and Tom and Smallville. Some of my absolute favorite memories with my brother who passed away are watching Smallville together. We just loved that show and your version of Lex with Tom's Clark Kent.
I'm a psychologist and very commited to increasing awareness about mental health and I'm happy to notice so many people (including you, Michael) talking about mental health openly and recommending to your viewers that they invest time in developing the skills that therapy teaches. That being said, it's so lovely to hear someone like Tom just sharing how he's at peace with his life. He's had struggles, so many ups and downs but eventually looks backs and talks about appreciating where he is and his life overall. It's so refreshing and helpful to hear from people who have learnt to appreciate the good in life. It helps others (certainly, me) do the same and learn to be at peace with what you have. Thanks for this episode! :)
When I watched Smallville on it's original run, I heard they were making "Superman returns". I absolutely wanted the cast just to go to the big screen as a continuation of Smallville. In retrospect, it would have been a much better movie. I just re-watched Smallville, it doesn't just hold up. It really is a better show than anything on the CW that came after it.
I really appreciate your guys' sacrifice for the show. Its hard to see that from the outside, it wasnt all glamorous. It was so amazing and meant a lot to me.

Hey, this podcast popped up on my timeline the other day and I am so glad that it did. I haven't seen Smallville before but it didn't matter as this interview was really interesting and fun to watch. I enjoyed the questions and I learned about what it is like being on set. It was a good interview and I am looking forward to watching more. You and Tom come across as really nice people.
My family loves Smallville ❤️ Our children are named after the show. My husband and I grew up watching it, and now at 39, our kids have watched and loved it. Smallville is a part of our life as well as you both!
Started watching Smallvile back in the day when I was still a kid, but never finished because I started working and eventually went to school. Here I am 20 years later watching it all. Was curious what all the actors are up to these days and it's so cool to see there's a podcast by the the best ever "Lex Luthor" actor. Cool to see you and Tom on here as well. Also looks like Tom Welling's photo is right behind you on that framed picture.
The growth of the characters has much to do with how much the relationship changes with people you don't know over time while doing something like Smallville. It makes it more authentic in some way. I don't know how actors do it quite honestly, I would have difficulty playing a part in a love interests in a TV series without making or confusing it emotionally. Its why I've never really criticized actors or actresses that end up playing around with a relationship because of the part they play. I enjoyed the conversation and thank the both of you
Love every single time Tom comes on the podcast, love seeing the two of you bonding and just being friends. Smallville was one of my favorite shows as a kid and getting to rewatch it now is amazing. Would love to see Lucas Till and George Eads on the podcast! Would love to hear their stories about MacGyver and other projects they've worked on. Also would love to see: Alex O'loughlin and Scott Caan (Hawaii five-0); William Zabka, Xolo Mariduena, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser, Lauren Graham, Melissa McCarthy, Bailee Madison - I could go on w the suggested guests forever if you want more lol - Loved every episode of IOY I've listened to
Smallville is my favorite tv series ❤️ I was in college when it started and I can still remember racing to get home early to watch it after work 🥰 Tom is great as Clark. Michael is so awesome being Lex, the best Lex Luthor there is ❤️ Hopefully, you’ll all be in a movie with the same theme. I would love to see that 😍

Love hearing and seeing your podcasts. Always look forward for when Tom visits, the relationship between you both is genuine. I really enjoyed seeing you both at Lex Comicon this year.
I was a huge fan of Smallville (and Tom Welling) when it was on TV. But I quit watching when season 10 started (don't ask me why). Then the pandemic hit and I realized Smallville was on Hulu, so I watched it once, twice, three, four, five times from beginning to end. Now I'm watching again from the beginning. It is my favorite show of all time. It has become kind of a joke with my friends because I tie every superhero movie & TV show to Smallville.
Lex and Clark reunited!! Always a treat seeing the both of you on and off screen ❤️. You two have a truly inspirational friendship and bring out the best in each other. I know I will enjoy every moment of this. Merry Christmas and Happiest Holidays to all 😊🎄🕎

Smallville has Been my absolute favorite show for 20 years. I remember being 8 watching the pilot.
Seeing Tom as Superman would be such a full circle moment, it would be amazing! Loved this episode 😊❤️
If they make a superman movie with the cast of Smallville, I will die happy! That show is my childhood. I'm 30 now and love it just the same!
Totally not alone! 🤜🤛
I just watched seasons 1-4 and enjoyed it. Granted I fast forward some
same ❤
Same im 31 and I'd die to lol
I would love this!!
Am 54 years old, watched Smallville when it first came out with my son and now again with my daughter who is 10 years younger. I appreciated it so much more the 2nd time. It has to be one of the greatest shows ever. Story lines were on point, acting was fantastic.
Im 47... im doing the same... rewatching it with my younger sons😊
@@welshie2007 Enjoy!
That's still one of my favorite episodes. Tom's acting in it was great, he really mimicked John Glover's Lionel Luthor well in it.
@@clonedavenger Totally agree.
I submit this was one of THE GREATEST SHOWS EVER...SOO MUCH TALENT, cast through the PERFECT LENS!!
Also Tom Welling mimicking John Glover's Lionel Luther 👏🏻👏🏻
Rosetta, greatest...nothing is even close
I see smallville every year and I have to say it’s still my favorite show ever. It’s so well done, great actors great story lines! I love how it ended!
Been a Superman fan all my life and Tom Welling is definitely the cornerstone of what Superman is today but more importantly he is the real Clark Kent
WELLING.
@@sarahabott8618
Sorry about that phone was set to microphone and I didn't catch it my apologies
Damn Tom being positive about his kids was awesome and Michael really wanted him to bite! really shows how the casting of these two was perfect for their roles.
Tom Welling is the only one today who can actually save Superman as a movie character! Can't prove me wrong, but anyone is welcome to try it!
I love Tom. What an amazing actor. My favourite scene in Smallville is when Clark first hears his father’s message with his dad. So awesome 😎
Dream come true to see Tom and Michael play Superman and Lex again. We have been kicking and screaming for this 20yrs. !
My all time favorite show will always be smallville! So cool to see this episodes when Tom shows up with Michael
Tom mimicking John Glover's mannerisms so well in Transference is one of my most favorite things in Smallville
Awesome episode
I love the way Tom sees life, it gives us to reflect on it!
He has such positive vibes! We need more Tom Welling in this world!
The Tom episodes are always an amazing "comfort watch", your friendship is so sweet!
Both Tom and John’s performances in Transference were superb! It was a wonderful episode!
Its nice to see how positive Tom is towards not just Clark but Superman as a potential character to explore in the future if he gets the chance again!
Nice to see how.positive he is period! The guys amazing as is Michael. True individuals to idolize and respect.
@@dwingsworld2581 100% agree
Tom Welling was the real reason why I watched the Smallville tv series. And so great to see Rosenbaum with Tom again.
Man I love watching this I can't wait to meet you guys one day
So your saying it’s boring?
@@untamednme869 nah relaxing
I fucking love you guys. It feels like watching my brothers I haven't seen in years, yet just yesterday. Miss you guys on my screen daily. For a decade you were a HUGE part of my life. Love to see you still interact with each other. Keep it up. Been watching you for a couple years, Rosey. I'm still single, btw ...waiting for you to show up. In 2000 ...you were the man of my dreams.
I could listen you both for hours. Two genuine persons. Tom looks like a genuine, charming guy. I wish you both the best!!
Tom is such a genuinely decent person to such an extent that its making me want to cry like lol he's helping restore my trust in humanity
Loved this talk, it felt like a warm hug. Smallville is a forever part of my life. Happy holidays!!
I loved watching Smallville. I've checked over the years, and to my disappointment it never appeared on Netflix. Happy holidays Gentlemen.
This is wild, I just found your channel a day after I decided to watch Smallville again for that sweet nostalgia hit. I was obsessed with the show as a teenager and absolutely love you and Tom, incredible show and wonderful memories
Smallville Season 11 comic was fun. I fell behind but I enjoyed it a lot. This was a great episode. I hope Tom is allowed to don the cape one day.
I just discovered this podcast and as much as i like it, i cant put attention because i get lost on michaels voice
Omg friggin Tom Welling. My childhood star crush. This is absolutely iconic. So cool!!
It really is a better show than anything on the CW that came after it.
personally my favorite show on the CW is Supernatural but i love Smallville as well.
That Smallville scene with John Glover was so memorable. I remember Tom gesticulating as John would do... What a great acting!
I really appreciate your guys' sacrifice for the show. Its hard to see that from the outside, it wasnt all glamorous. It was so amazing and meant a lot to me.
you are aging beautifully!😩😩🥰 I loved seeing you in Smallville, It would be a Dream to have the cast reunited again for a making 😩🤞
When I think of being with my friends and what it means to sit and talk with friends, this is it. I always love when you have Tom on. Beautiful friendship. And a beautiful time to have this convo with a friend. Much love! ❤️ #roseyallweek
This Podcast/show should have at least 1 million subscribers. The interviews are incredible. Extremely honest, real. Great job

What a great interview. Bring on the new Smallville series!!!
I am sure I am much older than many of your fans, but discovering this show on Hulu, has given me a new prospective on what a truly great TV series can look like👍 .
Hats off to all the great cast and creators of this show! I have become a binge watcher for sure.
I love this episode so much!! please keep doing more with Tom and Smallville crew
They have such a genuine interaction, very nice to watch.

I'm sure I've heard your name before on the podcast :D
This podcast is awesome! Thank you Michael for hosting and it’s even better when you have Tom on!
I actually just rewatched Smallville s1-10. You are definitely my favourite Lex Luther. So happy I found your podcast!
Here's hoping Erica Durance also comes back on the podcast!! 🙏 she was awesome!💕great work all year round
Ryan💕and Michael! 😊👍
I’ll second that hope. Erica Durance is still my all-time favorite Lois Lane. Such fantastic comedic timing.
Omg Tom Welling, that is my favorite part of Superman 2!!!
Michael, you and tom are awesome down to earth guys. Love liatening to your memories and tales of the road. This is another great episode, thank u
I watched 10 years of you guys.
Great job. Great job. Best show
The growth of the characters has much to do with how much the relationship changes with people you don't know over time while doing something like Smallville.
I would love to see that 😍
Recently just finished rewatching Smallville's, a beautiful show ahead of its time. The show is what started the Arrowverse. Now Tom Welling is back on our screen as Samuel in the Supernatural prequel, can I hear a Yah
Smallville made me the Superman fan I am today. I always secretly wished Clark would of ended up with Lana though. Best episode is the witch one were Lana gets possessed. I own every season on dvd and it became a birthday tradition to get the newest set. Have to say Remy Zero slayed your tracks and I still get nostalgic when I hear Save Me. Tom Welling you will also be my favorite Superman. Thank you for making a small part of my childhood special.
Just discovered this. Rewatching Smallville and found this podcast. Michael was my favorite on the show and enjoyed listening. I will backtrack over other episodes. You are still the boss
Oooohhh boy this is going to be an awesome one! It was so cool meeting Tom at the last con. Love your guys friendship! 💙
Exactly. They are both such kind souls with a truly inspirational friendship 💙
BTW, how can one not LOVE everything about Tom Welling
Lex and Clark reunited!! Always a treat seeing the both of you on and off screen ❤️. You two have a truly inspirational friendship and bring out the best in each other. I know I will enjoy every moment of this. Merry Christmas and Happiest Holidays to all 😊🎄🕎
I adore the friendship. Never miss Tom eps. Love you Mikey 🤍
That was awesome, love when you guys get together, felt like a Christmas gift for the fans. Fingers crossed that your Smallville animated series gets greenlit, they'd be nuts to pass on it. Happy Holidays, Rosey!
Almost at 200k subs Rosey congrats. Talkville is awesome!!! Love watching and listening to you and Tom and Ryan and getting a glimpse into you and Tom's unbreakable friendship. Continued success and I have been telling all my friends who watched Smallville when I was younger to watch Talkville and they are loving it. Keep up the great work!
Thanks again for another podcast with Tom Welling! Watched & Listening Right Now! I always enjoy each and every single thing shared about SMALLVILLE as that show is FOREVER! Tom's fourth podcast is a perfect blend of private, personal & professional stories as you guys discuss manhood & fatherhood! Thank you for this wonderfully surprising gift at the most wonderful time of the year! Merry Christmas, Michael & Happy New Year! Happy Holidays! Love, Fatima
I love seeing you both together. Tom is such a dote.
I couldn't agree more with Tom. The best friends are the ones you can not speak to for days, weeks, months, and pick right back up where you left off, no hard feelings.
Tom's story about the chance meeting of a military person was brief but touching.
