      @@squalo777videos Hi ..thanks for asking... Big electrical problems started in the drivers door. Windows and door locks acting strange. One day the alarm went off. I replaced the door latch with new aftermarket. Paid for full VCDS and it found more problems. No communication with door module. Checked all the wiring and found the can-bus wires broken between the body and drivers door. Fixed that ....then found the connections on lower left A pillar were badly corroded...fixed that. Still no communication with door module but windows worked. The fuel pump used to start up on opening the door but suddenly stopped working.
      Also no power getting to ECU and all fuses are good. Thats what made me think it was relay 409 but I was testing it wrong and about to order a new one when I found your video. Tested it and at least it clicks now.
      Now I think my "new" aftermarket door latch may just be faulty. Today I will remove it and test everything. I saved the old latch maybe I can get one of them working right. Seems the latch triggers 409 and it turns everything else on. Would have junked it but its my wife's car in excellent condition and we both love it and so do our grand children. Its an 2002 GLS. Much other work has been done so we hope to save it. We tried various shops but once they hear electrical issues they wont even look at it. Love your work.

      I'm very familiar with the wires and how they will affect your car. I was tracking electrical problems for 3 months to solve a problem with my car and get it running.
      If you check the ground for the ecu and you are not getting anything check the fuses on top of the battery cover. But if ecu was working it will give you a ground signal from relay 428 if you don't have that then you will need an ecu.. you can get one from ebay that has immobilizer off so you can plug it and see and check for the ground signal. As for the windows and locks going crazy 🤪 check 2 fuses behind and underneath the steering wheel 1 of those powers up the multi function module is a black box underneath your Steering wheel you can get one of those at the junk yard for $30 ebay around $50 there is also 2 relays with the number 53 if I remember good those run power to the multifunction module the one that controls windows locks sunroof and other stuff. Make sure the cables that power up the cigarette lighter thing are good those are known to create issues when broken and make sure to clean all corroded terminals with alcohol and sand paper then dry them good. Hope any of this helps to fix your car if you will bring it to me I will fix it for you. But I'm in Georgia also if you have a compressor as you clean the terminals try to use pressurized air to dry them. If you are soldering wires I recommend to use splice connectors they work better and cables are not expose to heat or Flux to much Flux can create a shortage in the same wires. If you soldering and know how to work on it do it that way but splicing works much better

      @@squalo777videos Thank you so much ! This is excellent info I had only limited knowledge of. I will check out all of the items you suggest. I took out my door latch today and asembled a good one out of the two. Although they are identical it was a surprise to me how much better built the original VW part was. It had a bad micro switch but a much smoother internal mechcanism and will test it carefully under power before I put it back. I should be able to finish this in a day or two and will let you know how it went. Im so grateful for your advice. I always done most of my own repair work on the cars and our house but chasing VW electrical is new to me and its a bit crazy.

      @@davidburman451 i hope that you get it to start and drive it again.. they are fun cars but to enjoy them better we have to try to understand how things work.. if you have a shortage in the system you might come to a bunch of conclusions. but check and replace the 409 relay make sure the terminals and fuses are in good shape those are in the engine bay on top of battery, check for ground and power signal to ecu.. remember ecu only provides the ground there is a fuse inside the car that powers the ecu so check the fuses on the drivers side i think is number 10 that send the signal. with problems like this you can think everything is bad but also check the wiring from the engine is 2 1 goes to all the engines components and the other one to 02 sensors if any of this wires get in contact with each other is going to create a shortage that will kill the ecu so first check all harnesses and then proceed to replace ecu if needed. also check that the engine is grounded properly, there is a black cable that connects from underneath the battery to the engine that's a ground cable make sure the cable is good and not corroded also check the ground of battery to chassis

    I wouldn't test 409 like that, in fact way of connetion shown on the video is reversed acording to harness shematics. Realy has some electronic insite like diodes , transistors and two integrated circuits. Those components are sensitive for reversed powering and can be blown

    hi there, where can I find the 409 relay?

  • @jimakos75
    @jimakos75 3 роки тому

    428 has to be 75-80. 409 how much has to be and where do I have to connect the multimeter? One more question, all the 409 or 428 are doing the same operation?

    • @squalo777videos
      @squalo777videos  3 роки тому +1

      You have to test the 2 small terminal for resistance. 409 its not the same to check the relay.. 409 has more functions than just send signal to the fuel pump the best way to check 409 is to hear the click when you turn the ignition on.. when they go back they won't click and pump will not prime. Remeber this is only for the 428 relay

      @@squalo777videos yes I understand, it is complicate that relay, can you sent me the panel where it goes every relay, are they same in its car? I have the agu and I don't know if they are correct.

      428 is behind the engine battery lil black cover box. Most engines have the power relay 100 for the secondary air pump and 1 is the 428 as the one I showed on my video, I will go into more details on the next videos
