Thomas EXOVCDS 2000 2.0 beetle died while driving 205k miles P1780 P1850 P0725 Replaced vss,ckp sensor new ignition switch 🤦🏽♂️ should I check for missing teeth
I have a 1998 vw jetta 2.0 gl automatic. Wont start in the morning, turns over perfectly every time. I think it may be cold related. The last time this happened it started after a little bit of cranking. And I just drove it last night before I went to bed. Woke up to leave and just cranks over. Colder then usual today too.
Check the ignition components... any moisture around the ignition coil or the distributor cap can cause spark to ground out / not reach the spark plugs. If you have some brake parts cleaner, spray / clean the ignition coil & top of the distributor cap (actually, it would be a good idea to look at / check the inside of the distributor cap as well... the underside of the cap)... allow to air dry and then check if it will start.
Yes, you're right. I meant I was expecting that the belt was snapped into. Yes, I saw the teeth sheered and that the belt jumped time. I guess at that point it really doesn't matter either way:)
Good video I am not getting any codes put it in time still want start at all after put on ignition coil and new starter and new alternator but battery is on 11.9v I am gonna put on crank sensor next

Like I said in the text to you, post or send me a video of the engine cranking. I just watched your video from "december 2020"... if the engine sounds like that, then there is no compression... because cam & crank timing is not correct.
Hey I have a 2001 golf 2.0 AVH. Runs fine but sometimes it will start then die then start right up n run fine. Lately it will take 5/6 times to start n run. It will start n die like 6 times b4 it stays running. Not everyday. Maybe every week or so. Any ideas
Attach a fuel pressure gauge and monitor / check fuel pressure when you have starting issues. Could be that the fuel pump has worn contacts... which can cause starting issues, when the pump comes to rest on those contacts. Tapping against the bottom right of the fuel tank (when it doesn't start) can cause the pump to rotate slightly away from the worn contacts, to help it start spinning. Using a graphing multimeter, one can check the integrity of the pump contacts. ua-cam.com/video/uBUnxt3cPv8/v-deo.html
@@EXOVCDS Thx. I have an aftermarket fuel pump that’s like 5/6 yrs old so maybe it’s time to change it? No check engine light on. I’m assuming I can keep driving it like this till I replace the pump?
I don't know if it's a pump problem... just a suggestion of what to check first. The best time to find the problem, is when it won't start (check fuel, spark, codes etc).
hello, i have a golf 3 1994. Cranks just fine but doesnt start anymore. Changed the distributor and wires. Hall sensor should be good. Has fuel and also shows spark when a spark plug has taken off. Shows 0 rpm on the tacho and just doesnt start... Any ideas??

I dont know if you keep up with these, I have a 2003 vw beetle (turbo) it cranks but doesn't start. I have changed the fuel pump twice and fuel filter once... check engine light is on but only throw codes for my broken flex pipe. It would run for a week or two then just not start but after sitting for a few hours it would start again.... now it just does the crank not start, Any suggestions?
Crank sensor, temp sensor, timing belt, fuel pump fuse, fuel pump relay, fuse for ignition coils, ignition switch... could be other things as well. If it starts after you spray brake clean into the intake, then it's a fuel problem, if it doesn't start it's an ignition problem. The more info I have / the more items you check & tell me the results... the better I can guess.
@@jennifie4765 how long does it run for? Coolant temperature values when read with a scan tool? When it dies / doesn't start, does it start if you spray brake clean into the intake? You basically have to check things when it doesn't start. Fuel or ignition... one of those is the reason. Removing & installing the fuel pump and then it starts could just be coincidental. A fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail will tell you if it's a pump issue. If pressure is ok when it dies / doesn't start... it's not a pump / fuel issue.
Hello, I was wondering if maybe you had some input on a car that I recently obtained, its and 03 vw jetta gls (AVH), it cranks well but does not start. It has gas, the plugs have spark, it doesnt sound like compression's off when I crank it (I'm going to get a compression tester soon), the previous owner had replaced the timing belt but based off of the some videos I've been able to find, it looks like its right on the mark. I checked fuel inj. pressure and it's in spec; also, when I took out relay 409 and plugged it back in/and when turning the key on, I can hear the fuel pump. I'm thinking it might be the crank sensor but I'm not too sure.
Post a video on your channel so that I can see & hear the engine cranking. Have you already checked for fault codes? Key in the ON position, is the check engine light ON (it should be)? With age, the crankshaft gear can come loose and "timing" will change... worst case, valves can bend. ua-cam.com/video/o_bhRnnzMWQ/v-deo.html

@@EXOVCDS I pulled out the plugs and tested them individually for spark and as for the fuel injector, I checked fuel inj. pressure right at the fuel regulator
@@jenny12gf But are the injectors spraying fuel? Spray some brake parts cleaner, MAF cleaner or carburetor cleaner into the intake (after the MAF) and then try to start the engine. If it starts & runs, then you have a fueling issue (lack of injector spray). If it does not start & run for a second or so, then fuel is not the problem.
Anthony Burrows 1.8t, TDI, V6? I assume 1.8t. Tdc marks only tell you where the exhaust camshaft is... the intake camshaft could be out more. No codes? Fuel preesure? Spark?

Hi thomas my 1.9 tdi vw passat of 2002 is cranking good but no start and glow plug is flashing on dashboard what can be the cause crankshaft sensor and speed sensor changed.

Year, which engine? Crankshaft position sensor maybe. Key ON, is the check engine light ON (it should be). If no, could be a bad ECM power supply relay.
