Would have loved to heard ALL the sidebars read by you. We watched that trial together, and I can only listen to them in your voice lol. It's not even close to as enjoyable or fun coming from others.
Elaine's incompetence is a total act because it works which is the worst part. How many times did Judge A give in just to keep things going even when it wasn't correct. Sad that a lawyer can act like a 7-yr-old in court and be rewarded for it.
I don't think it was an act.. At the end of the day, her client lost on all counts. She is clearly NOT a trial lawyer. She (most likely) spent the majority of her career making deals behind the scenes... Being an abnoxious Karen clearly paid off for years... Till she stumbled into judge A's courtroom and made a fool of herself and a mockery of the whole process..
@@pipinatoI understand what you're saying but I do think the "obnoxious Karen" was part of her schtick "act", that as you say, had managed to work up until this trial. She miscalculated on the fact on it being so high-profile and watched globally more eyeballs were on her and it kind of exposed her own technique even before we saw these sidebar transcripts (which seem to imply she knows full well what she is doing, it is a ploy to make her seem like she is "bullied" by the court due to her own ineffectiveness). Though if as you say, if she jas mostly done depositions, it's probably been able to be effective enough, until such a trial as this came along.
The sidebars (I’ve read them all) make it so clear how professional and prepared the Depp team were, and somehow Elaine managed to appear even worse - I had no idea it was possible. Kinda feel bad for Rottenborn, he seemed at least clear on the law.
I think Rottenborn was just caught with a bad client that had lied to him. I don't think he's completely innocent, some of the stuff he did or say was pretty sleazy.
I still have to come around to Elaine cause her whole campaing to salvage Amber's reputation after the trial made me pretty pissed off. But the rest of Heard's team are a different matter, I don't have a good read on what they thought of Amber personally and I can't fault them for trying to do their jobs. I did hear someone in the lawtube community (or it might even have been from the psychology side with Spidey from Behavioral arts) say that attorneys pick clients that they resonate with but at the end of the day it's still a job and you just have to do your best to honor your profession, so I still want to give the rest of Heard's team the benefit of the doubt, for now.
Others may have covered these but it's SO much more meaningful and fun to experience it through your knowledge, expertise, and awesome sense of humor! This was a great time, thank you! ❤

But I am firmly convinced AH's team thought they could settle out of court and get quite the payout both for their client and for themselves.
I watched your trial coverage sporadically. But with these sidebars I really have a deep admiration for the judge. Elaine didn’t do herself any favors in this trial. She made herself look like an extremely incompetent attorney. Not sure how competent she is or isn’t, but if it was a strategy to come off this way, not only did she lose the case but she’s not getting herself any new clients acting like this.
I heard a different lawtube lawyer wonder if Elaine has lost control of her client, which does explain some things. It is so weird that Elaine was celebrated as a lawyer before Depp v Heard.
Elaine may be a successful settlement lawyer. It was abundantly clear she was NOT a trial lawyer. Looking back at this case, I feel like Elaine and Amber both relied on what happened in the UK heavily, thinking that what happened there was going to happen here. But they failed to forget that Amber was better protected in the UK discovery wise, but the bulk of Amber's evidence, which the majority of it was hearsay because it was mostly everything she said to other people, was going to be blocked in the US courts, whereas in the UK court, it wasn't. However, I feel like Elaine was almost intimated by Amber and let her have too much free reign on how the case proceeded forward. Because if they have stuck with Rottenborn's strategy, she would've won. But I think Amber wanted to run the case the way she wanted to, and when it backfired spectacularly, she threw everyone under the bus, and unfortunately, I don't think Elaine had a strategy for getting Amber out of the hole she dug herself into. I'm glad the domestic abuse trial is funny to you dude. I love mocking women FORCED to recount their rapes ON CAMERA. She asked it be private and Judge A said no.
@@MistaCatsbyyou've got a few facts wrong there bud. It was a defamation trial, not a DV trial. One is about criminal charges, the other is about defending yourself against lies. Heard didn't levvy charges, but did make criminal allegations. So instead of being able to defend himself against those allegations in a criminal court, Depp had to sue Heard to get the same chance. Same factual issue, a very different reasoning and positions. Second point, Heard didn't have to recount any SV allegations on camera. She had a ruling in her favor to keep all of that private. She didn't have to say any of it in public so long as she kept it out of the public, which she didn't. The person who broke that ruling was herself and her cousil, both made public statements breaking that ruling, so now she wasn't protected anymore. So no, Judge Penny didn't just say "no". She said "sure, so long as you do this", Heard agreed, and then ruined it for herself.
@@MistaCatsby pardon me?? As a DV survivor I can tell you that AH was the perpetrator, NOT the victim. Gifting your "abuser" a huge knife with the words "hasta la muerte" is NOT something an abuse victim would EVER do. You try and AVOID the abuse, you do NOT run towards it at full speed. The whole thing was a farce and that was what caused hilarity. You may continue to believe what you will. As we shall be entitled to laugh at the AUDACITY of it all
I doubt you read comments this long after a posting, but I’ve listened to the sidebars at least three times. EEEEEEE! I subscribed to your channel literally so I could comment in chat during your coverage if you would (later) get the sidebar transcripts. THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY.
This whole trial must have been so damaging for Elaine's career. If it wasn't for the fact that she seems to know next to nothing about some very basic legal stuff I would really feel for her. But this is squarely on her; nobody else made her look bad, she did it all by herself. Maybe she's just not performing well under pressure and is much better outside of court.
I thought Elaine wasted huge amounts of time, constantly running into dead ends w/ questioning and I mostly lost the point if any that she was trying to make. I'm sure some of the Jury felt the same way.
This was priceless. Emily, you are a gem. I watched the trial with you, and the sidebars are even more eye opening. AH's team appear to be like the keystone cops. Other than getting lots of $$$ her team likely regrets taking on this case. So embarrassing... LOL
I had just heard about the BitBoy stuff on a moist critical video before I watched this and it was hilarious watching Emily find out about the situation one insane element at a time 😂
I think that Rottenborn and Elaine were definitely not on the same page. What really struck me was the video of the them AH legal team leaving after the verdict. No one took questions they did not even look at the cameras leaving the building. And the fact that Elaine was the only one on that team that did interviews is very telling to me.
i actually got goosebumps when EDB was looking for her rules of evidence and said "where are they?! ALL OF THEM! come here!" lol like i was back in middle school being yelled at by my mom.🤣😅
The Oz Media super chat was about the fallout of the Blair/Illuminatii drama bc she’s attempting to take back his home bc of a contract signed under duress by Oz who was younger, in a romantic relationship with Blair AND his employee at the time. She also forced his to take on substantial debts for her while he was still all of those things. Cruel Minds Happy World did a whole saga on this.
I'm not at all surprised that time was such a huge factor, or that Judge A basically went "my personal Motion in Limine on this one is SIXTY-ONE OF OUR EARTH HOURS. Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try". I believe that these two might have kept going until the end of time, if they were not prevented from doing so. They were both fighting for their lives, their reputations and their names. In Hollywood it is very difficult to separate those things - your reputation IS your name, and your name is your life. (ed: Ah, you pretty much said that - I wasn't yet on stream when you started.)
Emily... I am a Hague mom. I am fighting my own Hague case right now... in USA being Hagued from Argentina. If you are interested in covering Hague, I know a whole group of DV survivors who are framed as international child abductors. I will email you. We stand with Sophie.

I'm so curious about the sidebar during AH's rebuttal, when Camille was able to argue that she should get to ask AH about way more on cross than was discussed during direct (since AH's team running out of time shouldn't be held against JD's side)

I have CRPS and believe me, every day is a struggle to move forward daily. I completely understand why you wouldn't want to cover Maya's case. It's horrible. Thank you for all you do!!!
My mum lived with chronic pain for 25 years. She was an amazing woman and role model and had 2 sayings “ keeping 1/2 a nostril above water” and “ payback pain”. It was always about quality of life not quantity. Wishing you the best quality of life you can have and that you find lots of moments of joy during that life.
Too bad we didn’t see the sidebars from Camille’s closing. I really wanted to know what was said there. I’m glad we got as much as we did though. Thanks EDB!! 🎉
Emily this was so much fun!!! You had me the whole 4+ hours and loved Mr Tramain joining us! The app makes it so I can listen and live my life ie store, laundry etc. Thank you so much...laughed alot today.
thank you Emily D. Baker. I appreciate your realizing that we all needed a mental/emotional break. your humor and knowledge both help to understand law and make it entertaining and light (when it can be light or funny).
This trial is the gift of nonsense and schadenfreude that just keeps on giving! 🍿
Deep breath. There there. It's ok.
As we shall be entitled to laugh at the AUDACITY of it all
@@MistaCatsbyBruh...
I absolutely love any coverage of this trial I watch something about it daily! Thank you so very very much 🎉❤
I appreciate the side bar stream I needed some levity 😂
I doubt you read comments this long after a posting, but I’ve listened to the sidebars at least three times. You’re great work company, but find I listen too closely and lose focus when I listen to new content! So, I’m grateful I can listen to these and my favorite trial day reactions over and over. Thank you! ❤️
“I need my comfort rules of evidence. WHERE ARE THEY? ALL OF THEM, COME HERE”
Blessings 🙏 to everyone 💜 thank you I'm here on the replay crew
Me too
Emily’s face during BitBoy is ALL of our faces. Wowza
I'm crying. Crying! EDB spiralling because of Elaine in the sidebars is hilarious. That baby Valley girl voice at the most unhinged Elaine parts 👌👌👌
Emily- "Don't go to people's houses"
My introverted and reclusive self- "Bet"
Life is hard rn thank you for doing sidebars ❤
Same. ❤
thank you Emily, you did great as always. Holy hell this brought back the memories of this absolute madness!!
Hello caught the first half of the live, spackled my hallway, now I'm part of the replay crew in Virginia drinking coffee. Love you
Edit: not sure if I love you or hate you for love and pie cause wow. Great game 😂

Ooooh, I needed this so bad! Thank you thank you thank you for covering it with us, I laughed so hard yesterday and am laughing again right now while listening to what I have missed.
Love from Germany
Her questions were all client driven.
Emily, I'm trying to work!!! I can't, i'm laughing so hard I'm crying!!! The voice!! The voice!!
This was priceless. Emily, you are a gem. I watched the trial with you, and the sidebars are even more eye opening. AH's team appear to be like the keystone cops. Other than getting lots of $$$ her team likely regrets taking on this case. So embarrassing... LOL
So-o-o-o-o much respect for Judge A's patience with Elaine!
I Love spending time with you!!!!!!!
Thank you for " All the things!"
I had just heard about the BitBoy stuff on a moist critical video before I watched this and it was hilarious watching Emily find out about the situation one insane element at a time 😂
You know the whole time Elaine is saying Vasquez she’s saying “vas-kwez”
Drove me nuts!
I think that Rottenborn and Elaine were definitely not on the same page. What really struck me was the video of the them AH legal team leaving after the verdict. No one took questions they did not even look at the cameras leaving the building. And the fact that Elaine was the only one on that team that did interviews is very telling to me.
This makes me want to rewatch parts of the testimony
Ms. Vasquez: _"Do you recall Debbie Lloyd's testimony in this case?"_
Bredehoft: _"Objection: hearsay. She's talking about prior witness testimony; it's rank hearsay, Your Honor."_
😂
I’m cooking in the kitchen and thought Emily was paraphrasing with Wackadoodle Spiegeleisen but nooooooo 😂
Just downloaded the app. It is beautiful. I love it so much better then the text crew.
i actually got goosebumps when EDB was looking for her rules of evidence and said "where are they?! ALL OF THEM! come here!" lol like i was back in middle school being yelled at by my mom.🤣😅
Elaine calling testimony hearsay had me screaming in the break room at work
hello from the replay crew this has been the pick me up i needed so hello law nerds and nerdettes
OMG the voice changer and "Nah-uh, I know you are, but what am I?" I spat tea through my nose. Too funny.
EDB! you need to add this to your playlist!!
Emily you CRACK me up!!! At 1:31:00 I could literally hear you yell at Elaine saying, "Just LEARN! LEARN!!!"🤣🤣🤣
Replay crew looking forward to the laughs and frustration ahead
Emily this has been so much fun- thank you!!!💚
aw, I love morgan trmaine was on your live! woohoo!!! Love that guy. so genuine (or so it seems - luv ya)
Emily, I had so much fun watching this. Thank you ❤
Elaine (also Gene Belcher of Bob’s Burgers): “Everything’s hearsay. You hear it and you say it!”
I can't believe this is the way I find out "GQ" has an actual meaning.
Thank you for making dark mode the default in the app!!!
My sides hurt from laughing so hard at some of those sidebars and EDB's reactions!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
I'm loving the app here in Australia now if you can get hoodies with full zip up
Thanks for the super long stream! Was perfect company for my marathon organizing/unpacking :D
1:34:20 Just got done having a laughing fit about the hearsay objection rules. I wasn’t expecting it to say that part right off the bat😂
Looking forward to how the app is going to be. Thank you😊
I bet judge A was so happy to habe these people out of her courtroom. She must have been SO exhausted.
I feel like Elaine's approach to the rules of evidence is similar to the Pirate Code: more like "guidelines" than actual rules 🤣
Omg I've been waiting for you to do the sidebars!! I've waited on watching these hoping you would read them! Thank you 😊
Emily... I am a Hague mom. I am fighting my own Hague case right now... in USA being Hagued from Argentina. If you are interested in covering Hague, I know a whole group of DV survivors who are framed as international child abductors. I will email you. We stand with Sophie.
That was an impressive rant, would listen to again! 🤣
I can’t believe I just sat through all of your videos on sidebars….didn’t even skip through any of it. I watched it all. For no reason other than….I’m nosy. 😅
Cat on the keyboard: When a colleague leaves their computer logged in and unattended (a no-no), I have been known to switch the language before I lock screen. It's especially funny the first time I get a trainee, more so if they don't read the language I pick ;)
@EmilyDBaker if you did not read the full deposition transcript of Whitney's boss (the one she stayed with), You absolutely have to. She gets quite snarky with elaine a few times and i love it.
Elaine gave everyone migraine.
no kidding. If i never hear "what if any" ever again it will be too soon! lol
@@sonjavandam1306
I'm so curious about the sidebar during AH's rebuttal, when Camille was able to argue that she should get to ask AH about way more on cross than was discussed during direct (since AH's team running out of time shouldn't be held against JD's side)
Elaine was the gift that kept on giving 🎉
I also don't think that a lot off UA-camrs will be making an app, but it so awesome you did😍😍🥳🥳❤❤
True story: when I first started watching EDB I didn't even HAVE a proper mobile device, just an ancient flip phone. Now I've got EDB's own app snugly installed on my Samsung Galaxy. It's amazing what can happen in two years.
PS: I love "Band Season". Who cares about the sportsball?
Just downloaded the app! It looks awesome!! 😍🙌
The blast in court 3:42:15 that day was a tornado warning. My phone was off, but it still beeped loudly.
Oh Elaine..
I really love this darker hair on you 😍😍 it’s fabulous.
Brilliant, thank you
Agreed about the Lamborghini. I'm old and have arthritis in my knees and ankles. Can I have a Chevy Tahoe or a Buick Enclave please?
I’ve been avoiding all my law channels because they’re almost all handling the Maya case. So, I am grateful you will not be for what it’s worth.❤
Im soooooo jealous of the perfect iridescent chrome on your nails
