I personally LOVE the sidebars episodes. They give so much insight on what is going on behind the scenes, and the maneuvering taking place. To be perfectly honest, I find sidebars almost more interesting than the trials themselves.
It's always difficult to explain to people that I'm obsessed with this case because all aspects are so thoroughly documented, not because I'm rooting for one side or another. It's a brilliant example of how civil cases work, and I find it fascinating that the side bars are supporting what LawTube was saying during the trial (that has been vilified by certain groups for being pro/anti a side).

I did this for Amber Heard day 2, it was 51 counts, assuming 8 hours of court, that's a bit over 6 per hour, or about 1 every 10 minutes. Far, far more, if you cut out everything that's not testimony ect.

Amber lied under oath several times. The 6 million she claimed to have paid out of pocket as well as the pledge vs donate debacle is yet another case, in my opinion, of misleading the judge (UK) and jury (Virginia). I wished there would be consequences because this was intentional and not accidental. 😢

That said, while she technically received no legal punishment for lying under oath, she did finally face consequences....the public, as a whole, turned against her. I would say that alone was probably more harmful to her than any legal punishment she could have received. Of course, she is so used to gaslighting everyone that she tried to blame the public sentiment on Johnny's celebrity status, but the damage was done and nothing she could do would change it. You can only hope that eventually she will take an honest look at herself and try to make changes to be a better person. That would be the only way I could see her rehabilitating her reputation.

@@Petra-R Camille wouldn’t have been able to say she lied about the insurance paying the attorneys fees because there wasn’t any specific evidence produced showing that the insurance company paid, it was just argued that she was lying about intending to pay the donations. If there isn’t evidence of what you are saying on the record you can’t just argue it to the jury. Plus to outright *say* she lied on the stand would be basically stating a legal conclusion- ie that she was committing perjury - and you can’t do that

Just checked my iphone because that statement about the data being on screen when the photo was made confused me. I went into camera and couldn't find anything. I went into Photos and pressed the little i button like Camile said. There is literally a highlighted button that says "adjust". The menu lets you select the date and time from whenever. It is extremely easy to change the onscreen metadata. They were right to block that because they couldn't even verify to make sure the info was accurate.
Sadly, I think there are many lawyers like her. At some point it became less about pursuing the ethics of the law, and all about trying to weasel your way to the win, at any cost.

The apology ad that Speigel referred to was, I think, the Australia dog smuggling apology. At the time April 2016, an Australian lawyer commented that in Australian law, a sentence can be lowered by a defendant demonstrating genuine remorse in public. I have no doubt that the apology video was part of the agreement for the Department of Public Prosecutions to drop the more serious quarantine charges in return to Heard pleading guilty to presenting false documents. Although Depp was not charged, the agreement probably required that be part of the apology. Depp certainly looked like a man who didn't want to be there but was legally required. So not a baseline for Depp's processing speed.
One of my fave shorts on UA-cam is one that shows Dr Spiegel messing with his face and doing ‘all the things’…even that alone makes me laugh, but when they show Depp and his lawyer’s first reaction to Dr Spiegel. Both their faces were perfect visual representations of just ‘WTF????’
I think Elaine feigned ignorance to get improper evidence and testimony in. Heard's legal team played dirty and I think the jury picked up on it, much like many that watched it on social media.
I believe they thought they had a slam dunk since Amber was a female and rarely does a jury rule in favor of a male victim of abuse. Plus honestly They had nothing to work with since AH couldn't substantiate any claims with evidence that held up under scrutiny.

Amber then got in her face and yelled at Rocky, Rocky then pushed Amber away then Amber hit her.

Perjury is lying under oath and considered a Felony in Virginia... I don't know why this was not pushed for at the time.

1:39:10 the problem with that possible line of logic is, that Camille called AH out on the fact that she DID in fact have the 7m in her possession PRIOR to getting sued. That was NOT her money to use for anything EXCEPT to donate it to the charities she pledged them to. HUGE hole in that claim by AH and great job by Camille in catching that.

@@Petra-R Camille wouldn’t have been able to say she lied about the insurance paying the attorneys fees because there wasn’t any specific evidence produced showing that the insurance company paid, it was just argued that she was lying about intending to pay the donations. If there isn’t evidence of what you are saying on the record you can’t just argue it to the jury.
Plus to outright *say* she lied on the stand would be basically stating a legal conclusion- ie that she was committing perjury - and you can’t do that

Just checked my iphone because that statement about the data being on screen when the photo was made confused me. I went into camera and couldn't find anything. I went into Photos and pressed the little i button like Camile said. There is literally a highlighted button that says "adjust". The menu lets you select the date and time from whenever. It is extremely easy to change the onscreen metadata. They were right to block that because they couldn't even verify to make sure the info was accurate.

The apology ad that Speigel referred to was, I think, the Australia dog smuggling apology. At the time April 2016, an Australian lawyer commented that in Australian law, a sentence can be lowered by a defendant demonstrating genuine remorse in public. I have no doubt that the apology video was part of the agreement for the Department of Public Prosecutions to drop the more serious quarantine charges in return to Heard pleading guilty to presenting false documents. Although Depp was not charged, the agreement probably required that be part of the apology. Depp certainly looked like a man who didn't want to be there but was legally required. So not a baseline for Depp's processing speed.
There was a really spicy sidebar during either cross or redirect of AH on Day 17. I’d love to see that one. Where Judge A waves off Elaine.

The side bars where the Court has to tell Elaine how court works is just nuts. Amber's team was so unprepared and had the worst expert witnesses.
I think Elaine feigned ignorance to get improper evidence and testimony in. Heard's legal team played dirty and I think the jury picked up on it, much like many that watched it on social media.

I believe they thought they had a slam dunk since Amber was a female and rarely does a jury rule in favor of a male victim of abuse. Plus honestly They had nothing to work with since AH couldn't substantiate any claims with evidence that held up under scrutiny.

The Judge in this case had the patience of Job!! OMG ... Elaine was so frustrating!!! It's like she immediately forgets everything said in the last sidebar😭😳😂 She's like Dory from Finding Nemo!!! How she got through this without screaming at Elaine and blowing her top, I'll never know! She deserved an extra long vacation and a raise after this! hahahaha

Amber then got in her face and yelled at Rocky, Rocky then pushed Amber away then Amber hit her.
