It was probably Ulrezaj, he's the only dark archon I know of that is a fusion of more than 2 dark templar.
@@lightorchestrator 7 Dark Templar who craved vengeance for what the Conclave did to them. Tried to Genocide their entire tribe and even sent their greatest warrior Adun to try and finish them off. The 7 Dark Templar that make up Ulrezaj are literal walking fossils, having lived since the days of Dark Templar Exile. In their bitter rage and disgust they exiled themselves from the Dark Templar Tribe in search of Knowledge and when they found a means to seek vengeance they took it. Thus the Immortal Dark Archon was birthed.

This was amazing. Those models were fantastic, and so were the video effects. As for the animation, it looks like it was made by incredibly skilled animators running on low budget and time. A bit lazy here and there but not enough to effect the video. It was beautifully done. Thank you for you contribution to the Starcraft community =D
Wow. I'm not sure about Tassadar's psi blades, they seem too insubstantial, however...Tom K, Ulrezaj, Battlecruisers, epic marine...just make a whole movie like this and you could retire on the profits! I WANT MORE PROTOSS COMBAT ACTION!
I have a whole backstory written for this marine. He was evacuated against his own will by medics (due to near fatal wounds) early in the battle. They were on-board one of the capital ships (perhaps the Hyperion itself) by the time Mengsk left orbit.

Why are mutalisks flapping their wings in space? Is there air in space?
Flapping wings is just an instinct. They fly through space by releasing gasses to propel themselves.
AoE Freak Shouldn't they be evolving from flapping their wings already? If they move through by releasing gasses which I assume from the end of their tail, shouldn't they be flying backwards?
I believe that the gas is expelled from pores around their body, and as for the flapping in space, I don't know.
AoE Freak The flapping (like you can read in the wiki) is a motion necessary for the mutalisks to survive. As they are / were a species that was airborne pretty much all its lifespan it has to keep flapping, as it produces energy which is needed for their biological functions

Well their power is slowly diminishing as they are an ancient and dieting race, while,humans and Zerg are on the rise.
The thing is protoss have been in a civil war for so long between the high templars and the dark templars. If they were to unite as one then zerg and terran would not even have a single chance of winning... You saw what happened when Tassadar combined the powers of the Khala (High templars) and the Void (Dark templars) to destroy the overmind, he became an unstoppable being with powers that matched those of the Xel'naga's.
Rid Z But didn't he die? I mean yeah the Protoss are insanely powerful , but they are dwindling, maybe if there was more of them .

Well, I mean. If you look closely the character animations were a bit stiff, and Kerrigan looks a little... Nevermind.
I mean, it's still pretty fucking amazing, but Blizzard would've made things a little less robotic.
He's one of my favorite characters in StarCraft, and he doesn't get enough attention from the main games.

Seeing those Battle Cruisers from the Conferedacy nuke Korhal from space was bad ass. I thought in the official lore they just simply launched those nukes directly from Tarsonis towards Korhal but w/e. And those Marines were boss too. I would love to see some type of a cinematic that depicts Protoss vs Terran. in the HoTS cinematic we saw the Zerg invading Augustgrad, and then in LoTV we see the Protoss trying to take back Aiur against the Zerg. Nothing would warm my heart more than seeing a great cinematic of my fellow humans wiping out those pompous Protoss aliens. Seeing a Ghost call down a nuke on a bunch of em would be even sweeter. But great cinematic though nonetheless, hopefully once SC 3 is made we'll get even more great ones.

Oh man, I've just realised how awesome this movie is! The carriers and Tassadar's psi-blades are very, very cool! And I really loved Tassadar's portrayal.
But there's a catch. As I remember, Tassadar hasn't yet learnt to use the powers of the Void when he told Sarah she's her own worst enemy. =(
According to the Queen of Blades book, he has learnt to use those powers.

I've just finished reading the book, and I clearly remember, that Tassadar encountered Sarah only 1 time after he had learnt to use the Void - and this was with Raynor and Zeratul. And that time he didn't say such words - it was before he even met Zeratul.

freespace87 if you are interested in my opinion on the book, I would defientely love to see a movie, showing all the events and especially the relationship between 3 commanders. Although, the book itself is not 100% similar with canon.
I still own my copy of Starcraft Brood war. And if I remember correctly, EVERYONE WHO PLAYS PROTOSS is pissed off by zerg. only because you spend 300 minerals and almost 300 vespene for one carrier. 2 second later after warp, you hear the announcer say "your warriors have engaged the enemy" another two seconds your carrier explodes and the zerg player just killed you with carrier killers(a lot of players back then reference scourges as carrier killers because well....they kill carriers.) Damn them zerg.
Aaaand then a Black Templar Fleet enters through the Warp, and everyone is fucked.
who's to say the black templars dont make friends with them like the blood angels did with ze necrons hmm?
Because the Black Templars are the most zealous and stringent of the chapters, they'd eradicate fellow chapters after a whiff of heresy. BTW that fluff you refer to is Matt-Ward-Grade cancer.

And the Black Templar, are pretty close to the hatefulest of the hateful. They have respect for martial prowess, but seem to pretty much only trust their own mettle.

Very nice to find a lore fan here. You're right that Omega are known as Black, but I went with orange because they're portrayed that way in the Ghost intro and because render tests in black didn't look as good as the color they have here.

I just realized why Dark Archons are so powerful.
There isn't a single unit in the game that can resist their spells (especially Mind Control)

YuroZao Yes, but I think it's very reasonable to think Jim Raynor or Mengsk's elite guard all used shields. But that is never, ever portrayed.
What shields? I thought that those guys used some long gauss rifle. Not some one handed revolver....
TrojanPiece One of the in-game upgrades for marines gives them shields ("Tactical Shields" maybe?) The upgrade changes the model to actually give them physical shields (not the Protoss kind if you thought that) and increases their health by 10. Also, the shields are large enough that they would be very noticeable.
Shields had came for footmen in Warcraft 3 as well. Blizzard just puts shields to their lowest tier human units in all of their watered down dumb sequels............ It's bullshit.
Only think I disliked was Kerrigan's face. She's still supposed to be beautiful.

This was made by SCL way before Wings of Liberty, so they inspired themselves in the visuals she had in Brood War Cinematics. She looked quite trashy and non-beautiful back then.

You are correct, as in the credits, it shows that so and so played the voice of tassadar.
AMAZING SPACE BATTLES! The fight to fight is not that great, same as the voice acting on those troopers (yes I know why they picked those guys to do the voices) still, this deserves no less than a 8/10 in my opinion :D way better than most Starcraft cutscenes. Better than all when it comes to spaceship battles.

very well made aside from 2 things. Kerigans face was a bit off and that slow mo between her and tasadar could have used a bit of work. but otherwise very nice. Rly reminds me of starcraft one graphics in 3d where things had some more detail and not everything was smoothed as if made of metal and plastic.

It actually takes a really long time for stuff to freeze in space. A human body would take between 6 hours and several weeks to freeze depending on how much sunlight hit it. Vacuums are very efficient insulators.

This cinematic was just brilliance in a bottle. I agree, this really should have been what SC2 felt like! The style of the cinematic, and the use of the SC1esque music, and the badassery, really felt like it belonged to SC.
And seriously, the VO for Tassadar was just so good. I would totally buy into that voice for SC2's Tassadar.
I liked the little tie-in for Starcraft: Universe as well. And Tom Kazansky! Woot! I really can't praise this cine enough. Awesome job, dude.

Well as i read in one of the Blizzard Question and answer session before the release of HOTS i learned that zerg dont breathe in space but use the oxygen reserves that they refill in leviathans and behemots or just dont require air. And they actually use the gas/any propellant to push themselves forward and "fly" and using the wings is just an instictive behaviour.
From 4:42 - the best part, the most awesome of all SC videos for me. Just epic.
I'd personally love to know how / what effects they used to do the slight 'mechanical' voice alterations for the Marines. Sounds fantastic, in my opinion.
Sure, there are audio-editing programs such as Audacity and ACID Pro along with the voice-actors themselves, but there is clearly digital enhancement / alteration at play here, and I am curious as to what they did exactly to achieve the effect.
It was Audacity, in fact. Nice piece of software. Free and easy to use.
freespace87 I have Audacity. I've used it many times, although in simplistic ways such as simply pitch-shifting or changing the speed and tempo of audio files. I've also used Sony ACID to make tunes and sound clips of my own.
But specifically, what did they do for the voice effects?
Pitch shift? Echo? What gives off that metallic in-a-suit sort of sound, similar to Isaac's voice in Deadspace and other such examples?
Very impressive for a fanmade film. Hope there will be some actual movies of StarCraft stories released.

They probably have multiple packs of Mutas that will cycle out as a battle progresses. When one pack is starting to lose too much heat the second pack will be released to cover the pack falling back to the leviathan and continue the push, and so on and so forth. Also there are many reactive gasses and liquids, in the direct light of a star these could heat up to create a micro-atmosphere within the organism or even be used as internal combustion for warmth.
I just got into StarCraft and havnt finished the campaigns and halfway through this I thought I might be watching a cutscene from one of them
