Love to see this channel finally growing at the rate that it is after being a part of the squad for about a year now… I’ve been waiting for this man to get what he deserves !
Hey Lucas! I would love to see an editing video, particularly for the Max. For 360 selfie stick skiing shots, how do you do the reframing? Do you use the gopro app? And do you use "world lock"? I've found it hard to keep myself in frame unless I manually add lots of keyframes which is tedious and obviously have to turn off world lock. Insta360 has deeptrack for tracking a subject which I wish we had for GoPro 😭 Anyways thanks for the video!
Would love to see a video on how you manage your gear on the mountain, and in your bag. I.e. your process for switching mounts, lenses, getting stuff out of and into your bag, keeping it all straight, etc. I find the little details like this often get in my way of capturing as much as I want, because it becomes too much of a hassle/struggle. Would be interested in your file management system, too. It's another thing that is hard to keep straight, and ends up becoming an impediment. Just an idea. Love your channel!
This is a great video. My son and I are heading out for our first ski trip and will use these tips to capture our trip. I appreciate the effort you put into producing and sharing your content.
Part 3 would actually be interesting. I've used cameras for years and feel fairly confident on the basic settings and filters but editing video is new- especially in outdoors settings with variable light and direction change as well making transitions smooth in post as I've noticed that seems to be what youtubers struggle with the most compared to experienced videographers.
Your footage is always amazing so an editing tutorial would be great. I am always wondering how you get such awesome results. I don't have a 360 camera but just the little bit of info you dropped about time lapse and the 360 explains a lot.
Between the GoPro Hero and the Max which do you recommend buying/having if you could only have one of them? I've been having this debate for a while and always in doubt of the best one to start of...
@@LucasCatania17 agreed but traditional exposure compensation is + not - for cameras taking pictures on snow to get the snow the correct white colour not 18% grey. I just found it strange that you went - not +
Hey thanks for the handy video. I could have missed it, but do you use hypersmooth or have advice about stabilization in general? it would be appreciated!
Terrific explanation. You obviously put a lot of time into your content. Your camera work is incredible. Thanks for taking the time to explain how you do what you do. Until now I thought you had a couple of drones following you down the hill. Great stuff, hope you feel better. Thanks.
When i record myself with the max its great but when i chase someone and try to get nice footage of them its all choppy or blurry once theyre like over 10 feet away. I remember my hero 7 would have better quality when chasing. Is there something i should change?
Lucas! Can’t get enough of your vids! Props. You are a talented filmmaker. Do you use a standard 1/4 20 screw mount for the max when filming from the selfie stick or do you just use the standard GoPro mount with the thumb screw??
Hope you feel better this vid was very informative thanks. I got GoPro hero 10 and never use it bad on my part. I totally forgot once summer came. This was helpful . Let’s gooo
@@LucasCatania17 the thing I struggle most with NDs is which grade to use for which condition+ trying to keep them as level as possible cuz the GoPro's built in stabilization tends to fight me and I get this weird jittery look sometimes
@@ActionXander I have the same problem. With the 180-Degree shutter rule and ND Filter it seems Hyper Shooth doesnt work any more, the video is very unstable. @LucasCatania17: Please make a ND filter video! :D
@@JimboV360 yes! It's super frustrating as I noticed the hypersmooth stabilization tends to "fight" the filter and produce some untimely "jittery" footage at times
Loved this! Quick question: How do you keep your GoPros from freezing? The last two trips I went on, I lost a lot of footage because they would shut down due to the cold.
Get the new Enduro battery… made a WORLD of difference. Also when not filing, keep the camera in an inside pocket or in your backpack with some heat warmers in there.
When I use my Max, I have an issue where the white balance is different between the two lenses (making the stitch really obvious). Setting it to native white balance seems to mostly fix it but do you reckon it is better to switch it to 5500k?
Yea I recommend setting it at a fixed WB so both lenses are the same but if one lens is in the sun and the other lens is in the shade, you might still get some different coloration
Let's go part 3!! Would love to hear you walk through your thought process as you go through final editing. Less of a "how-to" on the software and more about how your creative process brings everything to life.
Not sure if you will see this but I have pretty bad stitch lines on my video in post. Have uploaded them on my page. Is this due to iso? I was shooting at 3k 60 fps, 100 iso min & 1600 iso max with sharpness high. Clearly not the right settings. Been trying to learn more. I've had nothing but issues with my max for 2 years. If you could help me out I'd appreciate it.

Thank you Lucas! A post production video would be dope!
Sounds good will do!
Thank you, I have been waiting for this update on camera settings. Thanks for sharing the secrets.
Thanks for watching man. Hope it helped.
Great tips! 🙂 Would love to see a video of both your video and photo editing workflow.

Very true! Sounds good Alan I will put something together.
When you are POV filming with the Max, and talking as you ski, are you using the built in mic on the max?
Would love to see an editing video. I’m trying to get into the hobby

Yo do you just use a sticker mount on your helmket? Just scared of it falling off

Thanks great information to have. Appreciate you telling us what you do. I’m surprised the EV is -.5 not +.5 for the white snow
+.5 would blow the bright snow out even more!

Can you explain why use sharpness at Low instead of High for the max?
GoPros n-camera sharpening can be kind of harsh so I’d rather add it post processing
Gott it thanks 🙏
Do you film with stabilization/hypersmooth on or do it in post? Thanks!
Hey, I'll be in silverthorne in 2 days!

Appreciate that griffin!
The Photos in Raw don't seem to download into a usable format?
When processing your 360 video to use in premiere, what output settings do you use?

Are you using the Max on those shots where you make your ski pole disappear on the selfie ski vids?
Yes!
Love the quality of your videos! Would love and editing video as well! Just got a Hero 11 and want some good shots to make videos of my kiddos!

dope vid! would love an editing part 3!

do you ever use linear FOV?
not really - i just shoot wide, then use gopro reframe to add lens correction to look linear frame
