Are they similar to Jewish donuts, during Hanukkah ?

I've never tasted Jewish donuts before. But having looked at several recipes online, it seems the differences are in the ingredients. Malasada recipe has whole milk, evaporated milk, and butter. The mixing process seems similar. The malasadas do require a double proof. They definitely look very similar. If you ever try this recipe, let me know your thoughts on the differences between the two. 😊
