Searching for Lost Sensors in the Balkans
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 жов 2020
- There was finally a window of opportunity to travel to the Balkans to change the batteries in my turbidity sensors and download their data. I was also about to squeeze in a multiday kayaking trip to paddle the entire river with a sensor and collect turbidity data.

So sorry you lost your last sensor! But you have to have one of the coolest jobs I know of. This is engineering goals.
ya that's exactly how I feel too, i'm so grateful:)
I love your channel! As a woman majoring in engineering in undergrad, it’s so cool to see representation. Also, I really appreciate how approachable and engaging you make complicated concepts. Thank you for making such great content!
no, thank you for the kind message and all of the support:)
I feel very lucky to have found you and your content
THANK YOU
Count how many times I say "the bEaUtIfUL rIvErrrrrrrrrrr" ...
Every 3x for each site

...That's all the matching data my sensors could pick up here. 🙈
Certainly underrated the blue beauty in words. 😋
I counted. Let me know what to do with the count.
Why cannot they hire people to take care of this job?
Great video! It took me back to my own experience doing an engineering PhD, and also when I used to work as a field assistant in Australian water supply catchments in my undergraduate days (best job ever 😀 ) You captured really well the emotions and the lengths that you are willing to go to for your data.
Haha thanks for watching! Ya, I could've done without all of the emotions but I don't think it'll ever be an option:P
super nice video! keep up the great work:)
There are certainly worse days ‘on the job!’ Beautiful beautiful setting!! ❤️
Exactly!
wow the colour grading does look awesome!
Its super cool to see where the sensors are. That part of the world is beautiful
Keep up the amazing videos! Love the engineering and environmental content :)
I'm so glad to hear that Jay:) From the numbers it seems like no one likes these videos but I really enjoy making them so its nice to know that someone also likes them:D
@@RiverTechJess it may not be so much the numbers that enjoy the content, but the selection of viewers that do watch it have the MOST ability to do something great and world changing with the inspiration gained from this. You are not providing entertainment, you’re providing education to those who will follow in the footsteps of making their own paths to help the environment.
Welcome back 🙏🏼💓😃
Thank you!
It is so great to see beautiful scenery and your hard work
Thank you! I tried to capture nice footage but its much better in-person!
hi MISS STEMININE :) MISSING YOUR VIDEO SO BADLY
hope all the best for all of your experiment and PHD project
take care of your self MISS JESSICA
"stay healthy, stay hydrated ya" :)
LETS ROCK THE GREEN ENGINEERING AGAIN
Hey jack!! Thanks so much:) new video coming soon;)
This is like your own Indiana Jones movie! Haha good one.
Greetings from a salvadoran subscriber :)
haha thank you:) I definitely had fun making it!
Wow, your color grading and music choices are amazing!.....must of taken a lot of time for that.
Question, what camera did you use to get the video to be wider?
I used a canon 6d with a 50mm lens and my gopro:) thanks so much for noticing it took forever😭
Nice!
I’m so jealous🌊
I didn't watch the previous videos so apologies if this has been mentioned before. Did you consider some sort of energy harvesting solution instead of using batteries in the sensors?
I am not engineer but i like your video so much ❤️
Oh am very sorry to hear about your sensor , hope you will get it back!
Btw I wished to know how much did it cost ?
like 6000USD ha
💙💙💙💙
Love the videos you inspired me to get my PhD love sahar
That's awesome! Congratulations:)
That blows. How bad is the impact on your project and thesis of the lost sensor?
To be honest I won't know until I start processing data. But also now the project just pivots:) It's the nature of science I guess!
I.missed the notif of this...🥲
click the bell!;)
@@RiverTechJess donee😁😁😁
I'm sorry to ask here but this your newest video
I'm a mechanical engineering student
My question is what is the best courses should i study and I'm trying to concentrate on design. so what should i learn exactly ?
Hi Bassem, what kind of design do you mean exactly? Can you be more specific?
omg jess in greece, jess in greece, you should have notified me to give you a tour to the Technical University of Athens.
just kidding hope you had fun
Ahh! I would've loved that:) I have never been to Athens but maybe one day when there's a vaccine for covid:)
True, till then , thank you for the inspiration, as a woman you are a model for me living and enjoying your path to engineering (undergraduate electrical engineering student here)

Hey there, im a first year ME student going into their second semester. Im currently struggling due to the switch to online courses and my professors aren't exactly the most enthusiastic or clearly spoken professors. Most of my classes are easy but im losing the motivation to due anything. What did you do for drive and motivation?
Why you choose engineering in the first place?
@@raygenrogue5261 because i thought it was for me, i was in a engineering club for years in high school and ive always excelled in it till now.
@@eder7468 Sounds like you already have lost interest in it. :3 Try looking what are the future scope in your respective branch and stuff it may spark your in it again.
Hey Eder, ah I'm sorry to hear that but you're not alone (even during my studies, the profs weren't enthusiastic, but of course it's even harder now). I think it's quite difficult to find your drive and motivation in the beginning. For me it only came from sieving through a bunch of topics I DIDN'T like. But you won't find out what you like until you know what you don't like. Maybe that helps?
Come to Bosnia ! ❤
Hi im an aspiring mechanical engineering student. I just want to ask if i can interview you for my project? Thank youuu ☺❤
Ouff I'm not sure if I have anything smart to add but you can email me at jess@rivertechjess.com :)
I love you
❤️❤️❤️
What's next after collecting all data🧐🧐☺️
Processinnnnnggggggg ahhhhhh
@@RiverTechJess Okay PROFESSOR 👩🏼🏫!!!
We're waiting for more update from you and ❤❤ to learn more about in future 😃😃
