  • Well I just started my PhD and then we had a global pandemic. I've been quarantining in my room and have somehow managed to make progress on my PhD. In this PhD vlog I share my at-home office setup, what I've done so far to build a turbidity sensor, the experiments I have in mind, and work I have planned for the next month.
    Some open-access papers that might be interesting for all you nerds:

      Is it possible to have a separate sensor in standard solution right above the river to measure the IR from the sun and use that to correct the readings from the sensor submerged in the water?

    • @NiHaoMike64
      @NiHaoMike64 4 роки тому +1

      @@SakibAhmed-hr7bd Don't even need a separate sensor - just pulse the light source and detect the difference in the readings.

      @RiverTechJess  4 роки тому +2

      Hi all! Very nice suggestions and questions. Yes, as @NiHaoMike said, the plan is to do one detection without the LED (to make corrections), and then another detection with the LED on (for the actual sample).

    1. other people might copy your project and publish earlier than you.
    2. that plus you might have novelty and inventive step claim issues when you want to file a intellectual property protection on your invention.
    .
    let me know your thoughts on this. curious if these lines of thinking is valid in other cultures/countries

    I'm sorry that you not only have a very busy schedule studying and working to be more and more successful but also need to constantly produce new material for UA-cam (because that's just how it works). Personally, I think that if UA-cam gets in the way of your success, overwhelms you, breaks need to be taken (like this period you spent out of UA-cam). But it would be really nice if you just took breaks, instead of permanently quit making videos. I'm from Brazil, you transcend borders. I'm currently on my first (and coronafrozen) period of Chemical Engineering and have been loving and knowing engineering more because of you. Whether I like it or not, it feels more comforting to see a female face talking about STEM, it makes me feel fitting or something. I watched a video you made with Tibees, that's how I found your channel and I've been watching ever since. Your channel is different, it is special. It is really not easy to find one like yours. Please, don't quit!

    I don't know if this was brought up or not. I haven't had a chance to look over everything on your channel.
    I've seen where companies/individuals are using artificial intelligence to design all sorts of things. Make things work faster, stronger, more efficient. Basically redesigning but on a scale that a human more than likely wouldn't even consider, and in many cases it's hard to simply understand. I saw where you made a video a few years ago about a project you had working with a turbine engine. I believe it was 2 years ago, i think it was part of your masters in school. But anyway. Could you potentially use AI on stuff like that? Maybe a better way to super cool the air before combustion so you get more thrust. Or even a complete redesign, i don't know that's why I'm asking. Maybe redesign the fuselage to save weight, while maintaining strength and aerodynamics. I'm not an engineer, really just a curious question more than anything. It just seems like it could have the potential to not only really help change not only our computers and programs but also the mechanical side of industry, even civil engineering could potentially benefit. I hope this isn't a weird question. I just wonder if the future of engineering innovation could head in that direction.
