Thanks for visiting our NSW head office at Tomago. It was a pleasure having you and the BuildWitt team - apologies for the double evacuation. Safety first, right? ^CG
Great video, Aaron. Thanks for taking us along with you. You are number one with explaining the company and what they are about. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!!
Not every day you see a Cat dealer normally stock mining equipment like that 24 motor grader in the yard. But I got to say, Australia has really cool ways of doing things including how they mine. Westrac is probably one of the biggest Caterpillar dealers in the world if I'm not mistaken. Thank you for showing this Aaron.
The market here in Australia is a bit odd, customers will quite literally buy what is int he lot, you need some 150-ton trucks, no worries we got that.....🤣
There are quite a few big mines within a few hour radius of Tomago (where this Cat dealer is) so availability is everything. As an Aussie I would love to see a U.S Cat dealer to compare, super interesting.
The scale of that Caterpillar dealership is mind-blowing. Thanks for giving us an inside look at how these massive machines are maintained and sold. Truly fascinating! 💪
I just visited Australia to see my son.i never knew Australia has such a big customer for cat. I am a Indian government certified heavy equipment graduate Engineer and almost 40 years of experience in Mechanical of iron ore handling personally drove all the equipment from scrapper to grader and ened up managing the fleet in managerial position.nice to see videos and it brings nostalgic feeilng
I work at one of the dealerships in the US. Very cool to see how another dealership does things!! Definitely have a lot of questions of some of the processes they use compared to the way we do it. Thanks for the video!
Nice! Did my apprenticeship through WesTrac, and still with them years later today, excellent opportunity for young Aussies to get a trade, experience on Cat equipment, and a good start in the industry.
those robots were incredible. I have seen those little overhead crate moving robots in amazon and like food delivery services, but I never thought they would be great for gaskets, screws, and other small stuff for equipment. Thats incredible.
Fun fact the 2 fire drills you did weren't for nothing about 1 week after this a bushfire came through the site we managed to stop it on the road across was a bit hairy tho
Awesome video awesome, your taking every day people who will never be there and showing them. That's got to be a of oool operation. Looking at those huge machines is fun. All the way from Florida
They take their Fire Drills pretty serious there. Where I work unless we smell fire we just keep working. Then when the fire turcks show up we think maybe we should leave the building.
My smiles. From Peoria,il. Drove truck many years. Loads from morton,il the main world parts that supply world. Or tell maker what to make after selling from storages. Special COOL!
Hope you enjoyed your visit to the Hunter Valley, you should've come up Singleton way to some of the mines to visit, and you definitely should've checked out that new CAT drill behind you on the new build pad, they're a good bit of kit.
"I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm here, they are not" 🤣🤣🤣 These videos are G R E A T!!! Those complaining expected a master class in engineering for earth movers equipment and a graduation ceremony. If they want a master class, go to the university near you, study, graduate and get a job, pay your student loan... Most likely, they had no idea that that facility existed and as you said: "I'm here, they are not". Your videos are for people like me, curious about things that you do not see in downtown wherever you live and have little to no chance to be in person at the job site. Let them bite the dust.
Great video Aaron! Love seeing this kind of content from you and the CAT team. I've always loved the color contrast of the CAT yellow paint and the high-vis reflective tape. What tape do they use in particular?
Consider taking your channel to CAT's Decatur, IL facility where the mining trucks are built. Also consider CAT's large bulldozer (D6 D7 D9 D10 D11)assembly facility Building SS in East Peoria, IL. D8s are assembled in Brazil where Brazil kicks back $25k for each D8 built.
Alot of Cat Equipment is shipped by rail to the port of Baltimore. It's really neat to be at Horseshoe Curve in Altoona,Pennsylvania when demention train comes through with the big dozers. John Deer also send Alot of their Equipment that way. 20/30 flatcars of JD Green&Yellow.
@@ronblack7870 Complaining of people coming "Across" the boarder taking jobs 🙄, Then turn around and send the "Jobs" Across the boarder "too stop" ✋ people from crossing the boarder. If you'd like to see the exact opposite of this dealership, come visit the dealership I work at lol. Built in the 70's and have had next to no updates/upgrades besides updating 2 of the hoists to electric.
Great video again! And good to see how different in scale our friends from westfälischen are….but guys..please help my. The sound when showing the tool wall….i know it but i don’t the f… get it right now. What is it?
I been by the Peoria plant and it’s huge….i figure you’ll prob be there before long…wish couple of the surface mines I worked on were still around here in eastern Ky…starfire coal and martiki aka addington bros owned were 2 big ones…coal Mac in West Virginia is anothern could warrant a buildwit vlog….you can see starfire on Coal Mining in Appalachia vid and the dragline and shovel I was around
Aaron You and your team are changing the way to talk big iron stuff. We Are U&M mining contractors, Brasil . Come to visit us and Brasilian mining . Be our guest!
So pretty sure you said it takes 35 days to strip, refurbish and rebuild a used one and 6 weeks to build a brand new one from parts. You sure you got that right mate?
Im aussie ordered cat boots direct buyfrom cat size 29cm says on box but really like 36cm when measured internally since near 10cm bigger vs what i needed my 1st and last order from cat well made boots though just seems factory stitched wrong size tag in them
When ur travelling through CAT inventory can u find me a Hydraulic pump for a 16G grader...they want $26k to find one in international stock if available...doesnt help me with a machine sitting in the middle of nowhere ŵith a $5k recovery and no guarantee of a replacement pump.....at a reasonable price....
Well that's a bit misleading about the jobs, they may not have gotten rid of anybody. However, they haven't hired new people to l for the extra workload. The only reason for robots is to make more money on not paying people.
Thanks for Visiting us.. Westrac Newcastle loved having you
legends!!!
You guys should take over Auspost

Great video, Aaron. Thanks for taking us along with you. You are number one with explaining the company and what they are about. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!!
This has been fun to watch. I work in building SS in Peoria. I see tours all the time coming through. It's cool to see an Australian dealer.

I could be wrong but I believe Finning is the biggest Cat dealer
The scale of that Caterpillar dealership is mind-blowing. Thanks for giving us an inside look at how these massive machines are maintained and sold. Truly fascinating! 💪
The one in Perth is bigger as most of the mines are over this way. This companies head office is in WA too.

AMAZING!! Great vid Aaron. I'm floored by the parts robots, great innovation by Westrac. You guys bring the best info!! THANKS 👍👍
thanks for giving it a watch Jeff!
Thanks for the kind words Jeff. We love our robots ^CG
You would be asleep on the floor if you had to go there and get parts and wait for them to be picked. Unbelievably slow
Nice! Did my apprenticeship through WesTrac, and still with them years later today, excellent opportunity for young Aussies to get a trade, experience on Cat equipment, and a good start in the industry.

i have transported from Kalgoorlie to Westrac Tomago. That site is pretty big and the staff have always been good to deal with.

Outstanding Video Aaron and crew 👏🏻👏🏻😍 some size of a site!! What a busy spot 🤯🤯🤯 Also I think some dozer cabs come off for transport too 🤔
Hey Aaron! Amazing video! Can you do more on the blast hole drills? As an Australian blast hole driller I’d love to see some more cat rigs!
we'll see what we can do!!
Great video. Next time I’m down there I want to go see WesTrac

Should come to Guildford Westrac in WA, heaps of 793s being built there ;)
we stopped by! It was wild how many of those trucks were out there
They are pretty similar to the one in Brooklyn Park. We went on a field trip at school to it for a Construction class.
In use from main parts dealer add on the truck take from truck and even oil totes. Fun part of my life.
Epic content!!!
Dang that is one heck of a grader 😮

that's a decent backhander...
Great indeed is the sublimity of the Creative, to which all beings owe their beginning and which permeates all heaven.
You have a video from a year ago called "The biggest CAT dealer down under - Hastings Deering"... so is Westrac or Hastings Deering bigger?
It was great to meet you and show you around our facility at Tomago. Hopefully you learn how to say Centre properly one day... 😅
A more detailed look at the tool wall would have been good. Just to see what tools I don't have. Great to see Aaron Witt taem in Australia.

That was the best....I'm here their not...haha love it
When is the fabick video coming?
Did you check the tool wall to see if they have the same problem as us in the United States with the 10mm always missing?
10mm and 9/16 spanners live In belly plates don't you know that??.
Couldn’t imagine the fire drills at the Tesla factory .. how would they get anything done
What the HE double L is a smoother?

epic video brother 🔥what’s in canberra 👀 (other than myself)
Would have loved to know the cost off a rebuild on that engine in the dyno.
Depending on the size it’s around 125k with parts and labor
Awesome
After 2 fire drills 😂. Sounds like Caterpillar
We're just too safe ^CG
@WesTracCat I work at Caterpillar in Athens GA USA for 3 years. We've had 4 fire drills in a 6 hour span on one shift. 😆 🤣
I wonder why Newcastle?. Most of the big stuff is in QLD
I delivered that 18 to site!
Lucifer was surprised at the amount of life at Death Valley.
Wow.neat.
Do you guys call Graders “smoothers”?
Australia doesn't no haha
this is why CAT parts cost a gazillion dollars
To be beautiful means to be yourself. You do not need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.
Heck Yeah PieRio Illinois
I Wounder how they stock their warehouse so the robot can pull the pieces
Kerry stokes @7 west trac
With all the AFA’s they have, there is little need for fire drills 😂
If they ever did mining in space. you could call them "space cats"
I was born in Peoria. The home of Caterpillar
One would think the parts would be getting cheaper with all of the automation.
5,000 oil samples a week?
Is enormous
He dreamed of leaving his law firm to open a portable dog wash.
Huge Hoses and Shafts, AARON????
Im aussie ordered cat boots direct buyfrom cat size 29cm says on box but really like 36cm when measured internally since near 10cm bigger vs what i needed my 1st and last order from cat well made boots though just seems factory stitched wrong size tag in them
So it's basically Amazon but in yellow 😂
What if the little bots put parts aside to make a bigger bot? I mean they have access to the parts 😅
Alat berat nya super besar sekali kak
This was so cool but the fire drills are lol
Big dozers go brrrr
When ur travelling through CAT inventory can u find me a Hydraulic pump for a 16G grader...they want $26k to find one in international stock if available...doesnt help me with a machine sitting in the middle of nowhere ŵith a $5k recovery and no guarantee of a replacement pump.....at a reasonable price....
Where are you at?
I was fabricating dump truck bodies in Melbourne
where all staff are treated like sh!t
