  • I catch my first fish on a hardbody swimbait. A small fish in swimbait terms, but I was super stoked to catch my first one on the River2Sea S-Waver. Tough day out there, got lots of bites on the worm but wasn't able to connect.

Hey Chris - Miramar was stocked last Wednesday with trout- i was there yesterday and noticed a lot of them at the surface ‘slurping’ bugs at Moes’ Hole area, about 8:30-9:30’ish
Some bassers using small swimbaits to target bass in area.

I'm just starting my journey into freshwater kayak fishing so this is awesome to see you switching it up too.

Thanks cheethoe. Good place to start is with senkos and plastic worms they seem to be the most consistent in the local reservoirs here in SD. Just takes a lot of patience and attention span hahaha.

Try that worm on a Carolina rig and change it up to hooking it whacky worm style every now and then. Seems to look enticing enough whacky style to trigger a bite when it's tough for me.

You seem more excited with that bass than with a 30lb yellow ! Swimbait fish are fun though.

I’ve caught dozens, of 30 pound yellows but that’s my first swimbait fish, as I said about 10 times in the video hahaha so ya I think I was, it like finally validates hundreds and hundreds of casts fishing those damn things and finally gives me the confidence to throw it even more when I’m on the lakes.

Put some Velcro on the back of the solar panel and some on the front of your yak

That hard bait bite was awesome, I use those for salt and believe it or not, they work for the ocean too!! Just not for a yellow for me... yet 🤣😜

I was thinking I might buy the big S-waver 200 with a blank paint job and painting it up like a greenback. Problem is I suck at painting and art in general hahaha

Awesome Chris! I’ve yet to try Miramar lake. It’s funny cuz it’s right down the freeway 😆. I’ve only biked and ran around it.

Even though it seems to get low pressure, it's extremely difficult to get bit there. Try the robo worms to start with to build up some confidence, let us know if you end up getting out there!

It's an extremely difficult place to catch fish I've found, but the morning dawn color definitely seemed to up my bites.

What pound line did you use for the S-waver? Thanks!
