Howdy sir . .😊 I dont recommend ur fantassy vlogs , pls *STOP* making ur ovvn f a l s e list like on these uploads. If u wants ppl to have their freedom of choice , u might have real survey ,plus EVIDENCE for ur journalistic in nascar events
Great list
i LOVE the 2005-2006 dodge cars. i had a diecast of Kasey kahne's 2006 car. I destroyed it when i was 7. man, i was a stupid child. nowadays I feel SO GUILTY about it...
this may sound like a dumb question can someone who is not a diver or an owner paint their car with the same colors as the NASCAR cars
The 2001 ford taurus in the woodbrothers paint is one of the best looking cars, but the t birds of the mid 80s are t birds of the mid 80s.
I'm sure many will disagree because of how relatively sedate this car was styled, but when I think of the best looking body style, I always think of the 1995-1999 Monte Carlo. Especially once they moved to have "real" headlight decals.
2000-2002 Monte Carlo also looks great
I’m partial to the 80s Monte carlos because I had a 1986 SS and they were stout well powered cars just in stock configuration right off the car lot and were pretty easy to make them even better. They also actually looked almost just like the cars on the track and not just because of the head light stickers unlike todays cars. The 80s GM G body frames are still well sought after by race car drivers at small local tracks everywhere
Edit: I even typed this before watching the whole video where the guy basically says what I just did 🤘
Top tier
@@tritontransport The SS’s should have had the TPI vs carb, same as the Camaro.
@@zlinedavid it was kind of 🥴 I actually preferred the carb but what I didn’t like about it was that it was more like a hybrid TBI carb which was the transition period for them which did cause some issues now and then. It wasn’t really completely old time conventional carb like the 70s and early 80s models had. I also wish they would’ve offered the SS in 350 but that’s the timeframe the EPA started complaining about emissions and took all the fun away from sports cars
5:42 As a film geek, it never ceases to blow my mind that Doc was voiced by the legendary Paul Newman. I wonder how many people my age watch this movie without realizing that the character is brought to life by an American cinema legend on the same iconic level as Nicholson, Brando, Pacino, Streep, Leo, De Niro, etc.
I think doc's number was not only 51 because of 1951, but also because Paul Newman drove the #51 at watkins glen in 1987
Interesting
The amount of work that went into the back stories is amazing. Paul Newman voicing Doc, Richard Petty voicing the King, Waltrip as race announcer Darrel Cartrip… But it kept going with Cars 3, they got Smokey Yunick’s nephew (I think) to voice the character Smokey, and while I forget her name the first female Cup racer from back in the day was present too. Such a well researched set of movies
@@colinbrassington3192 Let's not forget the gents from the long-running, beloved weekly NPR series Car Talk -- Tom and Ray Magliozzi, who voiced Clink and Clunk -- after their own show's nickname of Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers. Was absolutely delighted by that particular casting decision and homage to one of the great American radio shows.
Yeah Im not at all surprised they hired a legendary voice actor. What I was surprised about was they picked one that actually had a passion for automobile racing. Paul Newman has won professional championships in a racecar. He started doing his salad dressings so he and others at the track could eat healthy on racedays.
Cars, the lowest-rated and lowest-regarded Pixar series, is often written off as a cashgrab. We forget that it is a John Lassiter passion project. And with choices like these, the passion truly shines through.
Gotta say, the 2000-2002 monte carlo is it for me. I loved the modern take on what made the aerocoupe so great. The curved bumpers, wedge nose and unique spoiler. Then the fact that aside from the airdam, the racing version was a 1 for 1 copy of the street model in an era that all the cars were pushing away from the street models.
That and the fact that they always had the best-looking paint schemes for that time. So Impressive were those cars that NASCAR had their iconic limited-edition Monte Carlos for the public in 2004 due to their popularity!
That's ironic. On the street, the general consensus put the design of the last-gen Monte Carlo somewhere between wierd and ugly.
@@adamc7987 I think they're meaning the 06-07 model, because I do agree that it was a downgrade.
I absolutely love the old 70’s Buick lesabres, they’re so huge and ridiculous, I love them
That 86-89 Monte Carlo SS is always going to be #1 for me. It just LOOKED like a race car. Special shout out to the 86-87 Pontiac 2+2, they don't get a lot of love, but there's just something unique about those little ugly duckings that stick with me.
I love the 2+2 also as I am a huge Pontiac guy, the 2+2 ,looked like a Monte Carlo also. Big fan of the Grand Prix
I know the Monte Carlo Aerocoupe with the big back window was only made in real production cars for the 1986 & 87 model years. Why did NASCAR allow Chevy teams to use it into 1988 & 89? I see DW's 1989 Daytona 500 winner was an Aerocoupe. You'd think Chevy teams would've had to go back to the "regular" Monte Carlo SS for 1988 and until the Lumina was made available. But wasn't there a rule back then about being allowed to race car bodies up to a few years old? Maybe that's how it happened.
@TonyM132 you're exactly correct. The rules allowed bodies a couple years old to be uses. There were a few teams that would use a tbird body into the first year or two of the Taurus years. Mostly due to lacking budgets.
Nothing will ever top how the interstate batteries paint scheme in '02 looked on that Pontiac Grand Prix.
I loved the 91 Oldsmobile cutlass that Harry Grant won 4 in a row with. Best looking car ever!
Fun fact. The Olds had great Aero numbers.
My favorite will always be the 1989-1994 Chevy Lumina. It was so freaking awesome.
I thought I was the only one. Besides a few outliers these years had the best paint schemes too.
It's the most iconic, easy to remember and loved by 3 generations of NASCAR fan
I agree 100% it was my favorite
I think any Earnhardt fan might have to agree, since Dale won his last four Winston Cups in that car.
@@TonyM132 Yep. A car that was only around six seasons and it got 4 championships. That's crazy. They were definitely one of the most competitive cars and Dale brought them to their absolute limits.
With a Bocephus sticker on his 442, he'd light 'em up just for fun... Absolutely the right call for #1.
You and Brock have been keeping off season entertaining thanks for the content man.
What channel is Brock's?
@@1999Subaru brock beard
The way Kasey Kahne's car looked in 2006 genuinely got me into watching NASCAR, as I was a Dodge fan but had never paid attention. I tuned into a SPEED replay of the 2006 Brickyard 400 before the Bristol weekend and was simply struck by the look of the #9. Been a fan ever since.
My favorite was his '04 car, but the '06 is a good one as well. Imo all the Gen 4 cars of the early 2000s looked good until the 2007 season, except for the early Tauruses, which they looked best from '04 - '06 imo
@Jdog2201 Taurus was always hideous lol, just most aerodynamically efficient
My first car was an '01 Grand Prix, and I miss it. One of the best looking cars to be used in NASCAR since 1990.
Love the early '90s T-Birds. I'm in the minority here, I kinda like the '69 Torino Talladega that drivers like David Pearson, Richard Petty & the like drove. The Hudson Hornet was nice as well!
Great video S1ap, there were tons of great looking cars, it would be tough to make this list. Best bodystyles in my opinion
Gen 1: '64-67 Plymouth
Gen 2: '71-77 Charger, '78-80 Oldsmobile, '76 Mercury
Gen 3: '83-88 Thunderbird, '86-89 Monte Carlo, '88-91 Regal, '89-94 Lumina
Gen 4: '95-99 Monte Carlo, '89-97 Thunderbird, '01-04 Intrepid, '96-02 Grand Prix, '00-05 Taurus, and '00-07 Monte Carlo
Gen 5: '11-12 Charger
Yes! That gen 5 Charger looked so mean and sexy. I was disappointed that it wasnt on the list. Definitely better looking than the early 2000s Dodge he talked about. Was sad to see them leave nascar
My personal favorite is the 2000 Ford Tarus, especially with Dale Jarret's scheme. looks beautiful.
Yeah, it was a definite improvement from the 90s ones
I might be biased myself, in terms of one of the drivers who took it to championship success, but the generation of Ford Thunderbird that featured Alan Kulwicki's "Underbird" is my favourite. Whether it was Alan's Hooters sponsored #7, Mark Martin's Valvoline sponsored #6 or Rusty Wallace's Miller Genuine Draft #2, they all looked superb to me. That fact that that generation of Thunderbird featured in 4 of the 6 championship contenders going into Atlanta in 1992 only enhances my view of it (only Kyle Petty in a Pontiac and Harry Gant in an Oldsmobile were the only ones in the top six at least mathematically in contention that weren't in a Thunderbird)
Davey Allison's black #28 Havoline car as well. Imagine if he hadn't died so tragically in 1993.
@@gaffneyrailroading1982 absolutely
As a Ford Thunderbird fan myself, I have to agree. The 1989-1997 MN-12 Thunderbird was slick as can be.
1992 was a rough year for Chevrolet in the Cup series. It must be the only year of the modern era in which no Chevy driver finished in the top 6 of the standings. Ricky Rudd was the highest Chevy at 7th in the Hendrick #5.
'92 might also be the best year ever for Ford. Has there ever been another year Ford drivers swept the top three in the final Cup standings? I doubt it.
@Tony M that's true, the fact that Dale Earnhardt had one of the worst statistical years of his entire career in 1992 gives an idea of how bad it was for Chevy (he had 1 win, 6 top 5's, 15 top 10's with an average finish of 14.9, finishing only 12th in the standings). It was a bizarre blip on his record in retrospect, 4 championships between 1990 and 1994 (1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994) and the one year he didn't, he seemed to not even care once he was out of contention for the title (possibly explaining his actions on lap 2 of the Hooters 500)
i dont care what anyone says, the interstate battery liveries looked beautiful, especially on Bobby Labontes 2002 grand prix
Love that 1986 Monte. It still looks good today.
I just realized this is the only time I ever heard it referred to as a four-fourty-two. My dad had one of the early ones for the 60's and I grew up hearing four-four-two.
2003 Pontiac will forever be my favorite. And early 2000s Pontiacs had a lot of amazing paint jobs
Overlooking the 1963.5 Ford Galaxie is unforgivable. That fastback roof made an already gorgeous car the sexiest thing on wheels
I agree with you so much on the 05-06 Dodge Charger. Honestly it deserves to be higher on a list like this. My next stop motion season will have 05-06 cars and so I've been looking at them a lot lately and they just look so good.
That would be my personal number 1 pick, though I may be biased as a Kasey Kahne fan, so...
There might be a few complaints but tbh my #1 favourite NASCAR model is the 06-07 Monte Carlo SS. It just screams NASCAR looking at it's super slick design, intimidating headlights, and gorgeous paint schemes in a time where the NASCAR market had truly peaked and several great sponsors were even sponsoring winless teams. Jimmie Johnson drove this car to his first 2 of 7 championships and won the Daytona 500 in the SS. The SS won the 500 again in 07 in an iconic finish that almost deserves #1 as the greatest finish in NASCAR behind the 1979 Daytona 500. Dale JR, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Brian Vickers, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and even CASEY MEARS of all drivers won big in this car. It's safe to say that this badass car was unstoppable during its run time even if it was cut short.
Honestly that is probably my favorite stock car. The monte looked downright nasty and drove like a bat out of hell.
1963½ Ford Galaxie. The first car modified for NASCAR racing. I had one in high school, 390, 3 speed. Looking back, I should have kept that car but the color was Sahara Rose, it was just a bit too much pink for me back then.
My all time favorite is the '68 - '69 Ford Torinos and especially the '69 Torino Talladega which is still a dream car of mine.
Yup I've owned 'a 69 Torino Fastback since 1973.
Some mercury's definitely deserve an honorable mention
I don’t think I’m the only one that would love to see you do a video like this for the truck series too!
Every Dodge Ram look awesome.
It’s good learning about the older models. I haven’t delved a lot into those. I have much nostalgia over the Monte Carlo models of the 2000’s, as well as the Taurus and Charger of that same decade. I always loved how the Thunderbird and late 80’s Monte Carlo looked
With the 57 Chevy, they were not all "Bel Airs" The was just a trim package level. The famous "Black Widows" were accurately a "150 Utility Sedan" or just "150" for short. They were the base models with no frills and the unique side trim was 150 spec only. Heck even Chevrolet put out a book on the car in 1957 and then every part you needed to make your own black widow and then showed all the steps to convert the car to an legal race car. Fireball Roberts 57 Chevy was a true Bel Air, it was hardtop body (not offered in a 150 trim level), but then also had the extra chrome Bel Air's carried. Paul Goldsmith's number 3 car was actually the middle model between a Bel Air and a 150, it was called the "210" They had a little more chrome than a 150, but alot less than a Bel Air.
gotta mention the fuel injection 😁
@@dirtystockcardriver that was banned pretty quick, lol. Same with Ford's Paxton motor
Technically it wasn’t Chevy that put out the black widow book but the guys at the Chevy skunkworks team since manufactures had all left the sport due to bad crashes and increased speeding on public roads
Bought my 96 Tbird LX as my first new car. Always loved the look of them and the refresh made me make the move. It served me until late 2018 when too many things were failing and it was time to replace it. 22 years of service. I loved that car.
Any black Chevy with Dale Sr is great...lumina especially
I always loved the Xfinity Series Challenger. Looks so dope!
Couldn't agree more. It's a shame We only got that car for a short period of time.
In my opinion the 1968 Mercury Cyclone is the best looking that fast back design is just gorgeous especially when sporting the gold 21 from wood brothers racing
Always a good day when S1ap uploads. I´m not really a NASCAR fan but I love the old american Muscle cars. Especially the ´69 Charger.
Also I would love to see a video of, what you think are, the 10 best/worst liveries in NASCAR.
I honestly think that the 2019-21 Cup Ford Mustang as well as the next gen mustang are beautiful cars. This is coming from a diehard Hendrick Motorsports fan.
The 96-02 Grand Prix was definitely a car that I absolutely loved seeing on the track. Loved it so much that I was excited to have one when I became an adult.
my favorite model was the 2010 dodge charger from the Nationwide series. Specifically Brad Keselowski's #22. The combination of the sleek Charger grill and the white, red, and black on Keselowski's car was absolutely BEAUTIFUL
Oldsmobile seems to get overlooked too often when people think of Nascar's history. Very cool to see two of them on your list. Kudos to you.
I've always had a special love for the early '90s T-Bird, especially when Davey Allison was driving that car. There's just something iconic about that all black 28 Texaco T-Bird. Another personal favorite is the '86, '87 Monte Carlo SS. Of course the Wrangler colors looked really good on Dale's car, but for the small amount of time that he ran the all black Goodwrench car, that thing was a sick looking machine. I actually kind of like the 2005 to 2007 Monte Carlo SS as well.
Always loved the late 90’s-early 00’s Pontiac Grandprix mainly because my mom had a 99 GTP and my favorite drivers (Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte) drove them.
I personally always loved the 2001-2003 Dodge Intrepids. I always thought they looked mean and unique; plus my mother had one at the time, so nostalgia is high with this one
Just looking at these classic cars is so satisfying.
the 2007 Chevys at Michigan were definitely the best looking cup car in existence… no sarcasm… 💀
The Furniture Row car 😩
i didnt like the 06-07 chevy's near as much as i did the 03-05 ones. And even better than both of those, was the late 90's ones (96-99 i think?). But the 06-07 nose just looked squashed down, and that was at a time when they were reeeaallyy twisting the hell out of those things and making them so unsymmetrical for aero purposes (hence the nickname, twisted sisters). they just looked so cockeyed compared to the 03-05
A very good list but a couple of honorable mentions for odd but nice cars that raced would be the "Tucker Torpedo" that participated in the May, 30th 1950 race at Canfield fairgrounds (but was taken out early due to a broken axle) and the VW beetle which was in a few races in 1953
honorable mention: 2000 - 2002 Chevy Monte Carlos. Those things make me feel a certain way.
EXACTLY how a race car should look.
Mark Martin's late 90s #6.
the one with the round headlights and that splatter paint livery.
Oh man, Bobby Labonte's Pontiac Grand Prix lives rent free in my head. Such a good looking race car.
That Regal was sick!!!!! Loved that car and didn't understand why they didn't keep it the original design and just advance it better as tine went on.
I think an argument could be made for this past year’s s Mustang Next Gen car. That Pennzoil car at Vegas was stunning to look at.
wow look at all those ads plastered over every square inch possible. This is an art.
New S1ap upload means its gonna be a good day
Love when S1ap uploads on my lunch break! Gen 4 & 6 cars look the best to me ngl
Thank you for the offseason content S1ap! January’s rough when college ball ends lol
How... just... How... HOW is the 1971 Mercury Cyclone not in the top 10, or AT LEAST grabbing an Honorable Mention?!?
My all time favorite car in nascar was the Dodge Challenger which was ran in the Xfinity series from 2010-2014. That body design with the challenger grill just looked so good and I loved it when I was watching nascar at the time. If I was going for exact car, the discount tire #22 or #26 dodge Challenger looked so good!
Mike Harmon (74) also drove one in 2015. It felt odd, like Pontiac in the NASCAR Pinty's (Canadian Tire at the time) Series in Canada back in 2007, the car in that series was a Pontiac G6.
At one of my local dirt tracks a street stock driver had to whip out his backup, it was a 57 Bel Air. I was in awe.
I'm SO glad you put the Cutlass first. It is my all time favorite car and it's not close a close call. I love that body, and it will forever be the best looking stock car that ever ran .
Sir this is an excellent list. I may have put a few in slightly different order but those are tiny quibbles and you nailed number 1. My favorite car ever is the black and silver Oldsmobile #28 of Buddy Baker. WELL DONE!!!!
Great video. 57 Chevy used in NASCAR was not a Bel Air but a 150. I liked the Chrysler Imperials Buddy Arrington fielded too.
Bill's '85 Coors Melling Thunderbird. Looked fast....was fast. Making up 1-3/4 laps under green is still unbelievable. If not on film, people would certainly believe it was an exaggerated story. Also a special mention for Cale's T-bird in '85, it looked great too.
Yes! Slap left that generation Thunderbird out! The 1983 to 1988 Ford Thunderbirds were a work of art and got results. It's a shame awesome Bill was the only one to nab a championship in one in 1988. Loud mouth Darrell Waltrip got in his head in 1985 and Bill collapsed.
I'm glad the 1997-2003 Grand Prix was included. I daily drive a 99' Grand Prix GTP Coupe because I grew up watching them in NASCAR. Even though its an okay late 90s GM Car, I still smile to myself thinking of the low slung NASCAR body whenever Im cruising. I know it's not, But I can dream ☺️
I loved those late 90s Pontiacs. Classic charger always looked good.
JD McDuffie drove a 68-69 Buick Skylark a handful of times between his 67 Buick and a Ford Torino, that takes the cake for me.
I'm partial to the '88-on Oldsmobiles and Buicks, as well as the Monte Carlo Aerocoupe and first Lumina.
Can't argue with this list. I love all these cars. My personal favorite is the Black Widow followed up by the Monte Carlos (even the 2000s ones look awesome to me).
First!
EDIT: Even if I'm not, that adrenaline rush helped me stay awake when I was writing an essay. So thanks S1apSh0es!
1983-1987 thunderbirds are my Favorite,,, also the 1964 Galaxie 500. It should be on this list.
I'm so happy with your #1 pick, as, in my opinion, Buddy Baker's 1980 Daytona 500 winning #28 Oldsmobile is one of the coolest NASCAR stock cars to ever hit the track.
Buck Baker's '57 Chevy wasn't a Bel Air; it was a '57 150 as it had the "older style" two-tone trim, similar to the '56 Chevy.
Awesomes List! I love the Hudson Hornet myself.
My dad's first car was an early 70s 442. It's sad that the 442 seems to be almost forgotten when it comes to muscle cars of the past even though it could proudly drive with the best of them.
In my opinion, the best Pontiac schemes from the 2000’s were Tony Stewart’s 1999 Scheme, Bobby Labonte’s 2002 schemes, and my favorite, Ricky Craven’s 2003 Primary Scheme
Wooo, Slap is here again
That last one is so the most agreeable one
I’m a Mopar guy through and through and through and that 2012 chargervti ne us gorgeous especially that blue looked gorgeous in victory lane
My all time favorite is the 2010-2012 Chevy Impala. The design just really blended nicely with the big boxy CoT body.
This video was so pleasing to my eyes. I agree with you 100% on this.
S1ap video on my 22nd birthday?!? A true blessing!
I really like the current models and the mid 90's cars as a casual and new Nascar viewer
Seeing the 442 at the top of the list makes me happy. Those cars looked so good and I kind of wish we could race one in one of the racing sims.
Kahnes 04 and 06 dodge cars were easily some of the best ever imo. Damn fast too
I love the chevy Lumina that was used in 1994. For some reason I just love the look of the boxy era of nascar
Hell yeah. I loved every version of it all the way from 1989.
That early 00's Grand Prix was so 🔥
Excellent video , thanks 👍😊
I'm Swedish and I haven't the first clue about this sport but something about it just attracts me. I love your videos. :)
Great video Slap.
I liked the '03 Gran Prix more than the '98-'02. I personally think that is the best looking gen 4 next to the '06 Charger.
Can't say I 100% agree with the list, but I'm really glad the '96-'97 Thunderbird made the cut. Definitely one of my favorites, and I used to own a 1997 T-Bird years back. Loved that car, and I still love the styling of it today.
The 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix ushered in the first aerodynamic rear window to make the back of the car more aerodynamic. I remember it well because I was working for a Pontiac dealership at that time. And I knew exactly who the charge was for.
All never to be seen again on the tracks! Great video!
I really hope we get an All Star NASCAR Game in the future
Where not only will we get to drive every Stock Car From NASCAR’s History , but also the Tracks
Gotta say, I cheered at your #10 pick. I'm right there with you dude - the 05-06 Dodge Charger was unique and badass. Helps that I've always liked Mopars, and my dad even owns a mid-2000s RAM truck with that distinctive grill style, but man the Chargers looked so cool - and some of my all-time favourite paintschemes, including Scott Riggs' 2006 #10 Valvoline car, were ran on that exact bodyshell.
You should totally do an Oldsmobile video in the vein of your Buick video! Would be some good watchin!
The 2003 Grand Prix is criminally underrated
Wicked happy the Grand Prix made it onto the list. I would think the only one I would’ve maybe gave a mention to is the 2017-2021 Chevy Camaro. Not much a bow tie guy BUT it looks damn sleek. May have to race it in my NR2003 “career” 😬, thanks for the upload. Always a wonderful day to see new content from you in my feed!
Those are all great. For me, I loved the Pontiac you mentioned and also the Monte Carlo from 2000-2002.
Great video the 2000s Monte Carlo did not get enough love here
Nothing beats those early 2000s Monte Carlos for me, but you’re one and two are my two and three respectively. Great list.
I have a 1:43 model of Swervin' Irvan's #28 '96 Thunderbird. I got it from my neighbor when he moved away.
