I'm from Europe so we just basically watch a lot of F1, WRC, and other classes. Then the highlights of Indycar on UA-cam (or when we are lucky live indycar races like the 500). Nascar was pretty much off the radar here, and it's gaining a lot of popularity. But why is everybody fighting at each other about which class is better (nascar vs. indycar)? Be grateful you've got two amazing racing classes in northern america, which are totally different but still great.
I remember that 2009 talledega race like it was yesterday. Also probably my earliest Nascar memory and sports memory. I watched that right here in the room I'm sitting in now.
NASCAR in that era basically had a boom period where basically its ratings skyrocketed and it had to build new stands, now since that crowd has left that’s why there are many empty seats. The sport still gets the same ratings it did in the early 90’s today
I wonder how often Dave Blaney thinks, "Dammit, if only Kurt and Ricky had done that coming to the white flag, not the checkered flag. I'd have a Cup win."
I don't understand all those ppl who say NASCAR sucks or its boring. U just don't know anything about the sport! Most of them didn't saw a race, or even know that they race not only at daytona! If u don't understand NASCAR u shouldn't watch motorsport! If u think its easy, try a lap with a 850bhp gen6 car on a short oval! Every kind of Motorsport is awesome and exicting! F1, LMP, GT, Indycar, NASCAR, Rally, Trucks, ... Even drag-racing is exciting! U only need to understand the sport! Looks like this "easy" sport is to complicated for some ppl!
J. Fivecorr Yep, very underrated. The force exerted going into turns, the endurance, the tech and prep going on in the garage before the race, the pit stops, the spotter and crew chief making split decision calls during races, getting that perfect muscle memory in practice, all of it. Simply amazing
I hate how people say another left turn, oh another left turn, and another left turn. how about you get in a car that goes over 200 MPH and is like 130 degrees inside for 4-5 hours at a place like Bristol I have, i race late models it's actually hard
+Brandon Butler you know, F1 cars can get over 200 mph but they have to brake, accelerate and make all kinds of turns possible, not just one stupid-ass 200+ mph turn left for 5 hours straight
Its not about the track its about the drivers and who can keep under control and be on their best game in the end. All douchebag F1 fans act like an Army of Hitler so your profile pic suits you nicely.
African Racer I dont know what you are every saying. I like what I see. Nascar is a boring motorsport because all you do is turn left. F1 is much more versatile
It was the epitome of Rubin's Racin'. Knew that would be #1 without even watching this. Even Kurt Busch went to victory lane to congratulate Craven and would probably tell you it was the most fun he has ever had in a race car.
Little did they know, later on that day, that would have one of the best finishes at Tallagdega with teammates David Ragan and David Guililand pushing their way to the front on the final lap to finish 1 and 2
Jan they still suck(Gilliland especially he finishes worst then 30th every week) Regan actually has little talent so shut up you don't know shit about racing
Jan I think you need to look that up before you post. I found on nascar.com that he has won 2 races that is it. You are thinking of mark martin who also drove the 6 for roush racing and won at several tracks. You need to look that stuff up because Regan has only won 2 races in his career. His last win was.......Talladega because his teammate push him to front. SO YOU ARE WRONG!
I never watched NASCAR on tv but i played nascar 2005 chase for the cup so much as an 8 year old that it feels like I never missed anything 😂😭 its the only reason i still remember most of their names and the cars they drove. It felt really nostalgic watching this, especially the ones from around 2005 because it reminded me of the awesome car models from that time, the familiar names, and all the laps i had driven (theoretically) myself 😂 I even have a small collection of 1/64th scales from that time too... NASCAR seemed to be pretty big back then, I wonder how its doing now. Either way, I am glad I had some NASCAR in my childhood 🏆 I gotta try out another game sometime 🏁
The only people I know of that have survived the injury that killed Earnhardt are Ernie Irvan after his 1994 Michigan race and Stanley Smith in 1993 after his Talladega wreck.
#4 should be #1. They left out the entire 10-15 laps before that when 5 cars were under a blanket battling for the lead. I was there and everyone in the stands was cheering the final 15 laps, just deliriously enjoying the racing in front of them. Then when Harvick won it continued for half an hour after the race. The best racing moment I've ever witnessed, and I'm a Jeff Gordon fan.
Great highlights!!! My favorite driver of all time will be AWESOME BILL FROM DAWSONVILLE. NOW I PULL FOR CHASE FROM THE SAME PLACE!!!!!! FOVER #9!!!!!!
I’ll never understand and always be hurt by Carl leaving. I was just getting into racing and liked Jimmie some going into that 2005 Atlanta race, I left that race a lifelong Carl Edwards fan. NASCAR isn’t the same without him
What I like the most about the old gen 4 cars is that u could chase cars down. Look at the finish with Kurt Busch and Ricky Craven a car today in 1st woulda pulled away from the car in 2nd and both cars woulda definitely blown tires the way they were banging and bumping. Racing was just better back then
Assuming you are talking about Talladega where he is hugging the line, not actually going under it. You should watch the replay instead of making an assumption
Put a nearly 2 ton piece of metal into any fence and see how well it holds up. Also it wasn't the car that kill Earnhardt it was the lack of a head and neck restrain which allowed his head to snap forward and basically internally decapitate him. Several drivers throughout the years and in various series of NASCAR and various other forms of motorsports outside of NASCAR have died from the same injury. Very few have survived the injury, one being Ernie Irvan.
I need help, in '13 or '14 there was a day race where 1st and 2nd were fighting and 3rd took them both on the outside on the last lap (I think). anyone know what race it was?
Still bitter about Daytona 2007. NASCAR forever had a policy to freeze he field when the caution comes out, but they decide not to throw the caution for Martin, and due to that he loses the race. What a joke.
HD started coming out on some sports channels in 05, the only thing was, very few people had HD tv's at the time. 1080p was available on very high end gaming PC rigs as far back as 02. Also, Gran Turismo 4 ( 2005 ) had an option available to play in 1080p on PS2 if you had an HDMI adaptor.
I remember most of these. Especial #1 what they didn't tell you is that it was pontiac last race and cravens first win...I remember going to school the next day and telling everyone I knew...the whole race was awesome but man that finish
I miss this NASCAR. This was my childhood.
i never got to see it. this legendary lineup of drivers. 😞
I remember these races
