Terraforming a Barren Planet in Factorio | Nullius

- Опубліковано 31 бер 2024
- Nullius is a Factorio mod where you play as a Von Neumann Probe, landing on a barren planet and tasked to create life from basic elements before creating copies of yourself and sending them out across the universe to repeat the process elsewhere. It is without a doubt the most conceptually rich Factorio mod I've ever played, and probably the most intricately designed too.
This is my entire 180 hour Nullius run edited down into a two and a half hour movie for your viewing pleasure. It is a supercut of the entire series which I produced over the course of about 4 months, and my overall time working on this project likely exceeded 300 hours so I hope you enjoy.

Factorio is a game about building and creating automated factories to produce items of increasing complexity, within an infinite 2D world. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.
In this Factorio prequel, you're an android terraforming planets and seeding them with life. This mod replaces all recipes and technology. No life means no coal, oil, wood, biters, or free oxygen, requiring varied renewable energy sources. For reliability, you'll focus on abundant elements from the air, sea, or common minerals such as iron ore, bauxite, sandstone, and limestone. Advanced technology enables asteroid mining of rarer elements. - Ігри
I just realized, the sand could be for making the molds to actually cast the pipes in.
you are a genius
It's only for ground pipes. Straight pipes don't need it.
@@vidyagaems4063 you fill the pipes packed full with sand so they don't kink when you bend them.
Sand around buried pipes for drainage. (And likely easier to get them to be nicely against the soil, as sand is more formable?) IIRC sand or gravel is commonly used when burying pipes irl, and nullius is pretty heavy on the "realistic" part :)
@@Niyucuatro you wouldn't really bend a pipe of that diameter.
Truly the Ryan vs OBS experience 😁
When putting pipes underground, you generally want to put sand or gravel around them, for drainage... So it does make a lot of IRL sense actually :D
Jesus Christ, factorio mods are something out of this world. I send thousands of rockets, but I can't imagine going through all of that
"Some" Factorio mods - mine are actually very basic changes to the vanilla gameplay, and yes, that's because I don't code very well
@@jockeril and? Your mods are small, those are large. Of course your mods don't really do anything
it's actually not that bad. the mod does a great job slowly teaching you/letting you learn the skills you need. I only launched a handful of rockets in vanilla and had no trouble completing this mod.
@@tekbox7909 So should i give it a try? It looked interesting but really complicated. I am now in Freigth Forwarding run which is great addition to vanilla logistic and then i want to try something different.
If megabasing is more your style, Nullius isn't going to be very fun, it's got lots of annoying tangled recipe chains that make it hard to build at scale. I think you'd prefer something like Krastorio or Space Exploration.
After playing seablock, Seeing the mineral sludge Just being discarded phisically hurts me
Today is a good day.
Really poetic concept for a mod. Loved the playthrough!
oh hey! it's that Mod that adds a ton of elements stuff. I find this mod to be really fun in concept but it Really has to be implemented right to not feel too tedious.
Really loved this series, your explenation style and pacing are great. Keep up the good work!
Was a mistake made programming the probes, or did someone deliberately set out to seed the galaxy with Biters? Maybe this is predicting a future where Factorio players, hungering for the most realistic mod possible, worked together to deploy Von Neumann probes and turn the entire galaxy into a giant game of Factorio?
It seems like the different turbines would be a cool thing to have as settings in basic turbines in vanilla.
Oh, shit, that one should be a bitch to edit... 180 hrs of gameplay into a 2.5 hrs playthrough - you did a really great job!
Really enjoyed watching it despite some problems with the footage speed, thank you! Looking forward to your future videos
I was listening to you talks about fish for a bit. Look away and next thing i know is a hole straight to hell is being blown.
Nice, I love these videos
wa'a. Pure wa'a.
Why was there a power switch kill listed in the win screen? I'm way more curious about that than I probably should be...
Like your vids man. I think you could increase the volume level on your audio though. Would really help out phone users
pYanodon when? :-)
@1:05:30 Making calcium chloride directly is also a much more efficient chlorine void for this point in the game than putting the same limestone through the mineral dust process.
Praise the fucking gods
I installed the mod pack but starting a new map had none of the starting equipment. Did you have to make a few changes to the mod settings?
You need to deconstruct the crash site
Did the mod pack crush often or any at all?
4:04 How can you do that with the bubbles?
I assume you're not using wood for those power poles? What is it then?
Metal, the small metal ones are their own mod.
Iron and plastic they’re made of

Yoda stepped on your keyboard it seems
@@TrondelagianPatriotsriseup Stepped on your keyboard, it seems Yoda did.
Is there a mod just for the companion bots? (Edit: nvm I found it and the fork so it works with SE😊.
Damn dude you should close your parenthesis and share with everyone else
10,262 belt kills.....
and who said biters were the enemy
You should mby slow down the footage a bit in the future. It kinda hurts the eyes
yea instead of showing the whole process, show the start some higlitts, and the finished product.
🤓
First 🥇
What the , how?!?!
@@ewokleader9905 see 0:00 in the video :)
Constant flashing screens, opening your inventory over and over again makes it difficult to watch
Purely pipette players are uncommon
I agree, the video is way too sped up to keep watching. So I just listened isntead.
I suppose it would be possible to put commonly used things like pipes and underground pipes in the shortcuts in the bottom instead of going through the inventory, would have helped quite a bit
Factorio is difficult to play
@@stinkystink9830 just take it slow! It's overwhelming as a new player to jump in and immediately think, "I'm going to launch a rocket." Start small, focus on getting burner miners going, then starting up the power grid, then playing with assemblers, and so on. Eventually you'll be building rocket control units and researching the silo.
god I hate fluid Management. I think I actually preferred early game pyanodon
I thought this was "the Nilaus experience" which I guess would have been a play through based on the Nilaus method, but this complex mod pack is not interesting to me, sorry
