Wow...thanks for posting. I watched this with my Mom and Dad who are 83 and 87 respectively and from Bradford. This video really meant a lot to them. They remembered all the buildings. They have lived in Ohio for the past 50 years so this really brought back the memories! The opera singer you mentioned is Marilyn Horne. She is a relative of my mother. Marilyn Horne was a major, major opera mezzo soprano who regularly sang with Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland. Thanks again for posting this video. It ment a lot to my parents! Steven from Ohio

The Bradford Era is the local newspaper. I was so happy to see St Bernard's church and school. St Bernard's was my catholic church for the first 17 years of my life. Bradford is my old hometown. Anyone from Bradford remember the store, "putting on the knitz." And all us kids, "flaming the main???" Lol.

I worked in that movie theater during high school! Part of its revitalization was going for an old school look inside. My grandmother helped get historic status for a lot of the buildings on that street. It's so nice that you noticed all the small details of the buildings. There is also a skatepark. Next time you are there during the winter check out the ice skating rink (I worked there too). A short drive away is Ellicotville NY. Nice skiing town.
St. Bernard auditorium was an auditorium for an elementary school, behind it was St. Bernard School, a Catholic elementary school and that's a gorgeous Catholic church to the left, with ornate, beautiful stained glass windows. You got the old city hall and the new city hall mixed up. The old red brick building is the 'old city hall', also revitalized and historicized by my grandma. The funny looking brick building is an AirBNB last I knew.
    Great architecture tour!!

Wow that’s great stuff. We go to St. Bernard’s and sometimes to St. Francis. Beautiful buildings. My adult children go to Ellicotville for skiing. I went for dinner there, it’s definitely a cool ski town. I’m very impressed with the architecture of the town even some of the big houses!

I lived in Bradford on and off beginning in 1956 and again in 1961. Left for good 1964. Unfortunately, most of Bradford's industry left as well. This resulted in reduced population over the years. Of historic note at frame 9:06/12:30 to the left of that building once stood, I believe, the original Zippo Lighter building, that is no longer there. My mother worked there as a young woman before WWII. Unfortunately, Zippo no longer has the records of their first employees.

Yup, Good ol Bradford, where you can get a speeding ticket by a cop that has no radar, nor laser.... That was in 2006 though. " I ascertained you were speeding, because I've been a cop for 9 years", he told me.

I think this supplements the magic.
I was going to work on my taxes, but I had also obtained a paperback version of Carlos Castaneda's Journey to Ixtlan, which now, as I hesitated to do what I needed to do, captured my fascination.
I had read Journey to Ixtlan many years before. A great joy was just looking at the cover.
I'm not going to describe the cover completely, but I will say there is a white falcon on the cover-- and this is part of the greatness of the cover.
In Castaneda's story, there is a passing reference to a white falcon. It is only passing, as if a white falcon is only a passenger pigeon.
Who was the artist behind this cover? I asked myself. The artist was Roger Hane. Who was Roger Hane?
    That was a good question.
It doesn't have a full answer, but Roger Hane was born and raised in Bradford, Pennsylvania.

@@oxford821 Yeah. Bradford Pennsylvania is at the forefront of our time. Who would have thought oil could be important? I would not have. And I would have laughed if I saw J.D. Rockefeller. I would have laughed at the mad rush to drill, the erecting of oil derricks, and gushers. I have a fondness for Pennsylvania, in part because I love deer and deer hunting. I like rolling hills and hardwoods. I like diamond back rattlers. Maples and oaks and basswood. Corn fields, grape vineyards, apple orchards. I understand our fertilizers, and thus our food, depends on what Bradford brought up from subsoil. Fracking, anyone?
