There is an updated plaster mixture tutorial WITH MEASUREMENTS available on my channel for anyone who will find that useful. 🤎
Hi
Where? I've been to your channel and looked for it but didn't see it. Not saying it's not there, just that I didn't find it. Could you put in the the video description of this video? That would help.
This is the 1st tym i see an artist interacting with the querries, mostly they didnt even bother and not honest with their mixtures,i've been experimenting too and figuring out good mixtures,in my experience,my work tend to crack after drying...salute to u..keep it up❤
Thank you!! I’m more than happy to engage and keep it 💯. No gatekeeping here. Hope you’re able to find a balance with your mixture! 🤎🤎
Thx so much for the info!❤
Glad you found it helpful!
Thank you!
You bet!
I am watching ur video from India 🇮🇳.. ❣️
Big hello from New York! 👋🏾 🤎
doesnt the plaster of paris harden too fast
This is very helpful., thank you so much. I just start to do it and I don't know about it needs glue mixes with plaster aswell, so my plaster keeps cracking.. Thank you so much❤
I’m so glad to hear that. Hope it works out great! 🤎
Mine is coming out very runny 😢
Sounds like you need more plaster/joint compound. I also have another video with measurements to give you a better estimate of how I mix.
I have been looking for a video like this. There are so many different tutorials, but none that explain it simply, like you did. Thank you! I look forward to more videos from you!
Your feedback means a lot. Thank you!
Omg, this is the BEST EXPLANATION I HAVE SEEN, ITIS SIMPLY AMAZING! Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤
Thank you!! 🤎🤎
Thank you for your video. I haven't made or used this product yet but am keen to try it. I have watched a few videos and this is the best tutorial. I am going to try it now 🙂
Thank you so much, really glad to hear that! Good luck with your project, I’d love to hear how it goes! 🤎🤎
You're Gentle Share is Refreshing. I Really Appreciated Your Unpretentious Intention. Thank YOUUUUU
Thanks a million for saying that! 🤎
Thank you for that and for adding the subtitles. So helpful to us deaf 😊
So glad to hear that you found the video inclusive 🤎🤎
I am now part of your “family” 😉 You seem so sweet and genuine ❤️
Thanks a million! 🤎🤎
Your work is amazing 🤩 ❤love from Pakistan 🇵🇰 How long can we store this texture paste ma'am
Can i use a thicker version to use with stencils
Or can u suggest something better
Can I make texture paint for my walls using these ingredients? If no, what can I use?
I think yes since it’s plaster or joint compound but I can’t make recommendations for certain because I don’t paint on walls 🙏🏾
Thank you for sharing the recipe. I was searching for months to find something like that. I do not have formal education from art school, but really want to use this mixture on a canvas. What do u suggest can I use to make a mural?
I’m glad you found this helpful! I think it may work well for murals but that’s not my area of knowledge so I don’t know for sure
i am so glad you tube put you in my search...you are so sweet and beautiful look forward to being a part of things
You’re so sweet and kind! Thank you so much and welcome to the fam 🤎🤎
Thank you. I have been looking for a mixture I feel comfortable to use as a beginner at texture painting.
So glad to hear that!
Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing. As a beginner crafter, I don’t wish to spend a lot of money on materials and your video id God sent. 😊 BTW, how long this paste can be kept in an airtight container? God bless you.
Hi! It can be kept almost indefinitely but you may need to add water as it evaporates. The longest I’ve kept mine is about six weeks and I had no issues. Thank you! 🤎
What is the reason the paste is getting cracked after it applied to the canvas board . Anyone can explain please
Possibly it’s drying too quickly, you’re layering the paste too thick, lower quality products or too much water in the paste.
Nice and creamy texture. Can i use wall putty i stead of plastwr of paris ? And add soft sand for more textured projects
I think that would work, suggest you give it a try!
Have you tried just plaster of paris and gesso mixture? It's simpler and makes a great texture paste.
I’ve been thinking about giving this a try! Thank you
Good day, thank you for the video. I need to ask, can I also put texture in a piping bag to make it more like a "pencil"?
Yes, you can!
THANKYOU FOR RECIPE HOWEVER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ( HELPFUL) WITH MEASUREMENTS! AS A SENIOR WITH CATARACT'S ITS HARD TO EYEBALL ANYTHING🙏
I have an updated tutorial with measurements on my channel. You should definitely check it out. 🤎
Love it definitely not a measurement girl either, thank you for your ingredients ❤ love your work
You get me lol! Thank you 🙏🏾 🤎
Hello! How long does it take to dry completely?
Like your video!
It begins to dry as soon as it is applied, about a day or two depending on how thick the application. Suggest you check out my other videos for more info
Can we make a statue using this paste? Please reply mam ... I'm form India
Yes, please refer to my channel to see the sculptures I create with this paste for reference.
This would be a better video if you were not talking over the music. Music not required.
Learning and improving every day. Thank you for the feedback!
So how long does it take it to set? Since u said the glue & acrylic makes it mold able up to weeks
It sets within hours depending on how thickly it’s applied because it’s exposed to air and begins to dry as it is applied, which is why you store it in an airtight container 🙂
Thank you for making a simple video that anyone can understand. Appreciate you! 😊😊
I’m glad it was helpful! Thank you 🙌🏾
Hi, your tutorial was really detailed, but Can i use premixed acrylic putty for my art? Coz I am facing some cracks in my art and and Don't know how to fix this issue
Hi! I don’t used premixed putty but I’ve heard it’s a great alternative. I suggest you give it a try.
Are you layering too thickly? That could cause cracks. Hope it helps!
@@thezendoc no I am not using a thick layer, even a really thin layer cracking
Very helpful! Thank you for your important side notes around why the combination is necessary, adding plaster to water, etc. Your soft voice and energy is authentic and generous. So glad you’re here!
Thank you! Glad to have you on corner of the internet 🤎🤎
Can we use any other acrylic colour instead of white ?
Yes, I only use white but I don’t see why not!
Loved the video. Thank you for being so kind and unselfish ❤
Thank you!! 🤎🤎
Can we use any other color instead of white color?
Yes, I only use white but I don’t see why not!
can i use white wood glue the carpenter's use?
I’m not sure what glue that is. Suggest you do some research and compare it with Elmer’s glue or just do a little trial.
Hello. Thank you again for this video but can you give at least a ratio for the recipe? It’s really important that I know how much plaster to water and glue and paint here using to get the right formula.
Unfortunately, I can’t. I have never used a set ratio and what I shared is my honest process. In my experience, there is no right formula. Every mixture is dependent upon what I’m working on and what results I hope to get + a few other factors. This is my go-to for almost every project I am working on and I modify as needed (eg more water if I want it thinner, etc). One person’s perfect formula may not exactly be right for you and you’ll need to experiment a little to figure out what you prefer. Sorry if this isn’t helpful!
Thank you for your honesty and I really appreciate all your help and I will try to do the concussion and hopefully it works. Wish me luck.❤ you are the best
@@Wasansart good luck! Hope it works out perfectly!!
Super helpful for me today!! I found exactly what I was looking for. New Sub here. I am starting a 3d wall painting and needed a refresher on how to mix the texture paste and ran across your channel.
So glad to hear that! Welcome to the fam, you’ll always find inspiration here. 🤎🤎🤎
Is there a particular reason the paint is white? I'm assuming we can use colors. But I want to verify before wasting materials
Traduzione?
Thank you for such a well explained tutorial
I’m glad you found it useful 🤎
thank you for your video.
How do you store plaster mix 😊
Store in a container with a lid. If it starts to dry out, you can always add a little water to keep it moist.
I tried it but my mixturr dries in mins not even an hour.
With acrylic paint and glue combined?
HOW ABOUT USING WHITE CENENT INSTEAD? THANK YOU
I’ve never worked with white cement so I can’t speak on it. I do however offer an alternative joint compound option in an update video available on my channel.
@@thezendoc thank you ,
This helped me so much, thank you.
So glad to hear that!
Very helpful thank you for the excellent tips ❤
Glad you found it helpful! 🤎🤎
I have been searching for videos like this. I am also trying to create better tutorials for my work
There are many different tutorials available, but none can explain them as simply as you do. thank you! I look forward to you providing more videos!
You’re very kind, thank you! So glad to hear it was helpful.
You have the sweetest voice. Thank You for Receipt. I tried hard to hear you but there was loud static sounds( music) in thd back ground so it was hard. Ill be back to tell U how it worked.
Thank you! Hope it works beautifully!
Thankyou very much for the video.❤ If you clarify these questions i will be grateful.
1. Can we use wall putty or wall compound instead of plaster of paris?
2. Do we need texture pastes for mixing, is that mandatory?
3. What are reasons for getting cracks? And how can we overcome this problem?
4. Can we sell art by doing this way?
Thank you
Hi!!
1. Yes, suggesting you watch my latest video where I share a new a new joint compound material I’m working with.
2. Unclear what you mean. What I’m mixing is my texture paste and all ingredients added are listed.
3. Many reasons can lead to cracks, including wall putty with fillers that shrink a lot+layering too thickly. I share more details in my latest video.
4. Yes, my art is for sale.
Hopefully this helps, but I’ll suggest you check out my other videos as they provide further info. 🤎
@@thezendoc thankyou for response. I saw your recent video. I understood that we cannot use joint compound for think layers. Thankyou
Thanks for your video.. I had thr the same pop and Elmer's.. but understood white paint was also important.. so thanks soo much..
So glad to hear that! 🫶🏾🫶🏾
You surely deserve subscribe ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! 🙏🏾
Why are using glue instead of acrylic medium? I just used acrylic gel medium and plaster of paris for my textured painting. Personally I would never use glue because of the smell and it's not made to be used in such large qualities. But I respect you using what works for you. I'd love to hear why glue is something you opted for.
Because it’s more affordable and works for me. It also doesn’t smell, but I agree that art is a personal process, you have to find what works best for you.
Thats a real good tip u gave bout glue and acrylic paint..... Drying process reduces by adding them.... Thanku❤
I’m really glad you found it useful! 🤎
Beautiful
Thank you 🙏🏾
I’ve been watching a lot of tutorials on this kind of work and I’ve noticed so many different kinds of recipes. Some use joint compound, some use sparkle and others use plaster of Paris and all of them mix it with Elmer’s glue but none of them also use acrylic Paint in the mix. Besides giving it a longer work time, is there another reason to use paint as well? I’m an artist and I’m working on a very large, life size, sculptural tree that has a lot of fantasy aspects to it. I’m going to cover all the branches with the mesh, then I’ll probably then cover the mesh with a homemade bandage kind of thing which is made with a loose weave material cut into long strips and dipped in a watered down mix of Elmer’s glue, water and baking soda. I’m using that instead of the bandage strips because of cost and I don’t want it to be extremely brittle. Being a large tree, even if I’m careful, the branches are bound to move slightly, causing cracks.
What do you think about that? Do you think this mixture you’ve shared might work for my project?
Hi! Elmer’s glue alone will not prevent the plaster from setting in minutes, I’ve experimented. You need a combination of the glue and acrylic or some kind of medium. Everyone has different preferences so I’m not surprised you’re finding different options. I think this might work well for your tree as it allows for flexibility, you should probably test a small area to be sure. Good luck with your sculpture!
Texture art broked after dry...wats the reason? Plz help me by answering my question
It could be a few reasons including applying too thickly or too thinly, or using a joint compound mixture that’s prone too cracks. I’m not sure what your process looks like so it’s hard to tell but hope that helps!
can i use PVA glue?
I believe Elmer’s glue is a type of pva glue so I’d say yes.
Love this and how you explain it!! You’re very helpful in how you describe why you do things. I bought everything you have and tried to make it the same but mine solidified 😢 did I not add enough glue?
Oh no! Question: when did it solidify? Was it immediately or hours after? If immediately, then I’d recommend adding more glue and paint, you can check out my updated tutorial with measurements. If it appears to somewhat solidify hours later, add a little bit of water and you’ll likely be able to keep coating your brush with a creamy paste. Hopefully this helps!
Many thanks for a fabulous tutorial - many creators show what to add, but I love to know the “why” - that’s the part that allows you to adjust to your preference. To think I’ve been using joint compound, filler, smooth coat additive and all along I have POP sitting in my workshop…. “Smh”. New subscriber here - THANKYOU !!
Really glad to hear, thank you! 🤎🤎
Your experience with joint compound makes you more versatile!
This was much needed. Thank you! ✨
I’m really glad! 🤎
Does it crack once dry? Mine did
I hardly experience cracks and when I do it’s typically as a result of my application not the product. Layering too thickly etc
@@thezendoc thank you!
Thank you for sharing sister
Thank you for watching!
Love your video, so easy to follow...Will either of your recipes crack once dried? TIA
Cracks are caused by a multitude of factors, including how you work with the mixture and the environment you work in. I hardly experience cracks with my mixtures but that doesn’t guarantee that you won’t. Recommending you watch my updated mixture videos where I share more details.
Thank you for this tutorial. Can i use white cement as plaster and top bond ad the glue in my country? Im from Nigeria and i really want to get into this aspect of art but getting exact ingredients you used here is difficult
Hi, it’s worth a try. Unfortunately, I haven’t worked with white cement so I can’t speak on it.
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊. I plan to try that method. I am a beginner, trial, and error, you know.🎉😂😊
Have fun with it!! 🤎😂
Hey Beautiful Lady! Thank you for the tips, I have some ideas that i needed a thick texture for my painting. I hope it turns out. This looks like it will work great, and since i had a bucket of plaster sitting around and never did know what to do with it, now I know. :) Keep up the good work!
Thank you! So glad I could inspire you 🤎🤎
Amazing video. Thank you! I commented below asking for you to add the link for the tutorial that contains measurements, but, truly, once I saw the whole video I realized that I don't need it. I left the comment anyway just in case someone else does.
Glad to hear that! 🫶🏾
Thankyou for sharing, is there other plaster mixture other than Plaster of Paris? I never seen this product in NZ.
I am not sure what’s available in NZ, but gypsum and joint compound are also great options!
Hey amazing video 😍 btw can we use this for texture painting on walls ?
Thank you! I think it would work well, but I’ve never painted on walls so proceed with caution 🤎
🇴🇲 From the Sultanate of Oman, I would like to thank you very much, my dear, for this wonderful explanation. This video helped me a lot to understand the method of creating texture paste. I am very grateful to you.
🇴🇲 🇴🇲🇴🇲 Hi!!! I’m really glad you found the video helpful. I also dropped an updated video with measurements yesterday since I’ve been getting questions about that - in case that might also help. All the best! 🤎
You talk to much
You mean *too?
I did it but when it dried on the canvas it was cracked Can Any one explain to me why ?
Hard to tell since I can’t see your process, but a likely culprit would be layering the plaster too thickly.
Thank for explaining so simply but so eloquently the process and the reasoning behind it. Like everyone else I’ve been looking to soooo many videos, yours is simple. Keep the good work. It would’ve been even better to see you using for your art. Ian going to look for your other videos. You have a new subscriber!
Thank you!! + You will definitely see me using the mixture in my other videos since I filmed tutorials right after. 🤎🤎
I subscribed after seeing this video! Excited to watch more of your videos!

Really glad you found it helpful!! 🙏🏾
Thankyou so much, perfect timing for me as I’m starting this new technique ❤
So glad to hear! Good luck with it! 🤎🤎
Thanks. I am yet to try. This is helpful. Subscribed😊
Welcome to the fam! So glad to have you here. 🤎🤎
Thank you for sharing this with us ❤
Thank you! 🤎
thank you so much. I'm a beginner in art and I'm admiring for textured art lately and i wanna do it someday if i have a budget on it ☺️💕
I’m glad you’re inspired!! The tutorials are here whenever you’re ready 🤎🤎
May I ask How much time the paste is needed to set?
It begins to dry as you apply and should be fully dry within 24 hours depending on how thickly you apply!
@@thezendoc If I need it to set in 1 hour , What ingredient the should be less than other ?
@@bodetarek7657 if you need it to set quickly, use the plaster as is without additives. Plaster sets in about 15-20 minutes.
@@thezendoc but I think plaster only will make it cracks
Very well explained
So glad to hear!
Since this has both glue and acrylic paint is it also flexible? Also can it be used in thin silicone molds?
I’m not sure what flexibility means here but yes, it should work with silicone molds. Cement is also a great option for molds.
Awesomeness thank you
Thank you!
Thank you!
Love this process. Do you just store out in the dry place or in the fridge 🙈
Thank you! Store in a container you can close to prevent it from drying out but no need to refrigerate. 😅
Thank you very much for this video and your beautiful energy!!! ✨🙏🌺
Thank you! 🙏🏾 🫶🏾
Did not work for me. Became hard in about 10 min
Sorry to hear that. Adding Elmer’s glue and acrylic paint has literally never failed to stop my plaster/joint compound mix from hardening
Nice Content. I am your new subscriber. I have a question.
1. You have mention the ratio but in general - but in practical way to avoid cracks in the future what must be the standard ratio.
2. What is the brand of your Plaster of Paris.
3. How many hours shall I dry the paste before I will paint it.
Thank you
Sure thing!
1. I do not use or believe in a specific standard ratio, my mixture is different every single time depending on how I mix and what consistency I want (sometimes thick, sometimes watery). For me, the ratio isn’t what prevents cracks. In my experience, joint compound/spackling paste are what cause cracks because they shrink a ton when drying and I’ve not had cracks since I stopped using them in my mixture. I can probably do a video on cracks at some point + I’m work on a mixture with specific ratios this weekend for anyone who wants that, so stay tuned!
2. Brand is DAP - you can also find links in the description!
3. 24-48 hours on average. It also depends on how thickly you’ve applied your layers.
@@thezendoc Thank you for your reply
Hello ma'am. Is it good to add white cement or gesso or other powder to thicken more the mixture..pliable to use in pre-forming leaves petals...etc..forming it before putting it in its place in an artwork .
While I’ve never worked with white cement or added gesso to my mix (it’s cheaper to use acrylic), I’m a big advocate for giving things a try. I’m fully self taught, so all I know has been from trial and errors. I don’t see why adding white cement won’t work, keep in mind this is my most basic recipe so sometimes I add in other mediums depending on circumstances. Another option would be to keep your plaster mix really thick and use less water. Perhaps a 4:1 plaster-water ratio? I recommend trying a small batch. Good luck!!
@@thezendoc thank you very much.
Thank you so much for the recipe! Very kind.
My absolute pleasure!
Thank you ❤❤❤
🤎🤎🤎
Thank you for the explanations, very helpful to know the why of things 😀
Glad to hear that, thank you!
thank you!! very cool! can I use this on a canvas or wooden board?
Absolutely! This is pretty much what I use in a lot of my artworks (feel free to check my channel for reference). I also have a more recent mixture tutorial that offers more flexibility with joint compound, suggest you check it out so you can make an informed decision.
Very nicely and clearly explained, thank you very much!
