I'm just getting into mixed media art as I've never looked at myself as an artist until very recently (I'm 42 and just discovered my love for upcycling small home decor about a year ago...) that has led me back to art of which I really enjoyed in my early years/throughout school including college. Thank you for the wonderful lesson and beginners guide to these pastes!
I am always amazed at the way you make a plain circle into a masterpiece. I love watching you as you apply each layer and work the color to where you want it before you apply the next layer of that same color It's one thing to see the depth in the layers of colors in a finished piece, but to see it being done teaches you the technique you can practice with to get the same effect. The use of the numbers as an accent...amazing!
@@lindahigham5317 Good to hear from you. All is well and waiting patiently to finally be able to go out and enjoy the sunshine. For now, I will be satisfied with my terrace and I will do some planting this week. Stay safe and be well. I Hope your daughter has made a full recovery.
I am really impressed that you took your time to break down and explain each step about the quality of the product you used. This is a wonderful video! The paper towel edging method is just what I've been looking for. I am always searching for some new techniques/inspirations for my own hobby/DIY art projects. Thank you so much! 😊🤗💖
I have been wanting to use modeling paste on my canvas to give my paintings some depth. This was so informative. Thank you for taking the time to explain what each does.👏👏👏
I'm an abstract painter, and my biggest takeaway from this video was the idea of ripping the paper towel and using it as an edge. It left such a wonderful, organic edge. I will be using this when I am painting with acrylics. Thank you so very much!
The smartest tutorial about modeling paste So well presented, explicit visually, myself personally i have a better understanding of this medium.Thank you for your effort and work involved in putting together this tutorial.
Loved the way you explained with demo. Saves lots of time, material, and especially frustration of errors. This is the best video I have seen so far, and I will use it in my new art creations. Greatly appreciated 🙏🏼 😌 ✨️
This was very informative. Thanks for doing this. The DecoArt was a real bust! It looks like it flattens out after application which could defeat efforts at making extreme texture. The other three held the texture well which is the whole purpose of using the stuff!
Great video and review thank you for doing this for us and showing us how to use different medias..wish the companies would have sampler sets for beginners to try out before purchasing lg er sizes..
I use Atelier heavy gloss medium, because it is a very thick paste that is easy to work with extending the amount of paint and it creates beautiful texture that also dries clear and maintains the colour of the paint, so it's a winner for me! AND you can smooth it over the finished work with a lovely sheen
Just visited your art gallery with my little 7 yo grandson Hudson. He was anxious to go and I’m so glad he told me about it. I loved everything I saw and especially your philosophy of being hands on which I’m not used to in a gallery. I live in MO and we have the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. Of all the spectacular exhibits and events for children, touching the art is not one of them. Thank you for being such an inspiration to little kids and grandmas alike.
I like the effect of the clear paste and spray ink. Without any color I liked the Gelden pastes better, but with color it' the clear and the grunge. In person it might be different, sometimes the camera changes thing. I have a piece stuck in my mind that is a study in texture with color in a few walled of areas only. I am thinking now, because I will be using wood and foam on canvas, to make what I want then spray paint white to make sure it is all the same white. I am mostly a sculptor and craftsman anyway. This has been most helpful and thought provoking. Thank you.
Never used texture pastes, so this was really helpful. Thank you for your generosity in sharing and your expertise. Greetings from SArica with lots of love🥰
As someone who is starting to move forward with texture and sculpture, I found this video very helpful. Sculpting paste is hard to find, as I can’t find one that can create foliage, flowers, etc?
Thank you for all the work you did to explain this. When you did the circle project, you poured out something white from a tube and spread it on the dry blue circle. Was that white paint? If so, what brand? It seemed to add texture. Was it white chalk paint? If so, what brand?
Thank you forgery informative video. I am a woodturner and always looking for different ideas of embellishment. I want add very fine groves on my turnings and fill with colored molding paste then sand. Which paste is best to mix with acrylic paint for colored grooves? regards
Interesting to watch. Was hoping for some guidance on the best for creating leaves and petals and raised work. Which holds shape best. Tried basic sparkle but it does not work to make curled leaves or petals unless I build upon it.
Amazing, once i complete my painting using one of the modelling paste for texture, can we varnish it. varnish creates any problems on it. Please reply me.
Loved the video. I have a question. The clear modeling paste from Deco art is that what I see on pictures in the stores that they outline some of the flowers? It's like tinted and translucent too.
Thank you for this great tutorial and explanation of each of the different brands. Am I able to color any of these with acrylic paint and then pipe with cake tips? I’m a newbie to this and I am so intrigued. Thank you for sharing your expertise 🎨
What a brilliant video, so interesting and lots of helpful tips. I loved the little letters printing device, may l ask where you got the printing stamps from or did you make them yourself please?
Thank you!! This is just what I was looking for. I want to have a raised effect on wc paper but need to then sand and apply Armenian bole over which I will add real gold leaf. Which modeling clay world sand smooth best. Thank you . 🙂
this is wonderful information. could this be applied directly to a wall to make wall art directly on drywall as the canvas? in other words, can you use this vertically (as opposed to on a flat horizontal surface)?
totally, I used to use dap chaulking, and fine grade stucco paste to substitute I'm not sure if you using it for painting, I was using it for miniatures and modeling.
🙋🏻♀️👩🏼🎨☕️ I am getting back to mix media and currently Im playing a lot with coffee, wonder if my gesso will take it ok.... thanks for this video, really helpful! xo Marci 😊
Thank you so much for the video!! I want to make 3d acrylic paintings with a piping bag,I want the paint to dry glossy and not matt..what would you recommend? I'm so overwhelmed😅
Great informative video. The pastes and texturing gels are different I assume? The pencil used on the final project is water soluble charcoal? Thank you. Val
At last, someone who understands what we want from a demo! 😆🤩
This woman is very instructive. I enjoyed listening to her--intelligent, concise, and artistic. What a combination!

What paint did you mix into the paste - acrylic?
Thank you, very helpful video x
this is wonderful information. could this be applied directly to a wall to make wall art directly on drywall as the canvas? in other words, can you use this vertically (as opposed to on a flat horizontal surface)?
Yes you can, as long as the surface is sturdy and the medium applied in a not to thick a layer.
Can you use joint compound
Can I use DAP for texture instead of expensive modeling paste? thanks for video
