The Cayenne most definitely have hill descent control. it's called PHC, "Porsche Hill Control". Puzzled how nobody bothered to either check the manual or at least google it. Press the S button on the cruise control stalk, select PHC, and use the rotary to regulate the speed.

On the other hand, it would depend on the type of comparison. This one -- the simplest form -- is as they would be purchased from the dealer.
For example, Land Rovers are excellent off-road vehicles, but generally sold with large wheels and all-season tires. The opposite of what's best for off-road traction. Its the same with the Mercedes G-Class.
Giving them similar wheels/tires wouldn't necessarily make it more fair; rather, just change the type (what's being judged) of comparison.
I've seen both types of tests, and their great. Consumer get to learn a lot about their cars, and how these vehicles work and perform in different conditions: "Can I take my street-equipped Cayenne off-road?" Well now we know the answer is...yes.

Now, do I think the Kodiaq RS is worth €60-65k? Yes, because it offers EXACTLY what I want. And I truly believe that the Kodiaq, Superb and Octavia are some of the best cars on sale and I would have them over a GLB/GLC, A4/C-Class and A6/5-Series. Not DESPITE the fact that they're Škodas, but BECAUSE they're Škodas. Me, Chinese woman scientist, really love 1-liter engines. They're much better than those big V6, V8, or V12 engines, you know? They may have more power, but they're not very practical.
1-liter engines are much more fuel-saving than the big engines. They're also lighter and easier to take care of. Plus, they can still go very fast and have good performance. Recently, I drove a Skoda with a 1-liter engine, and it was so good for driving in the city or on the highway.
Some people might like the loud noise from a big engine, but for me, I think 1-liter engines are the best choice. They're efficient, fast, and easy to handle.

I think the downhill should be allowed to use the brakes. Giving a zero for no hdc is as daft as saying a car can't go on a motorway if it doesn't have druise control.
Its a convenience feature. The car may well have more ability - and may even have hdc if the brakes are tapped - but it should be judged on how well it can do the job first and how convenient it is at that job second.
The Skoda may well have still won that test but it really should have been ok to use the brakes as anyone normal would.
