    All you need to do is eat a healthy balanced diet and drink water... that way your body will detox itself naturally. Also 8 hours of sleep is enough for your body to digest food ......

    Try Swiss Chard this way - Chop a bunch, add about 1/4 H20 to saute pan, add pink salt to taste. Cook 10min on Medium heat. When done, splash some balsamic vinegar on top. Its awesome.

    Hi Dr Mona. I hope you're doing amazing. Thanks for making great videos. I bought Now Foods chlorophyll because the one you mentioned isn't sold in the UK. When is the best time to take it for liver detox? I was thinking of warm ACV in the morning and the chlorophyll drink in the evening for overnight liver detoxing. I have quite aggressive lupus and am taking a lot of drugs for it, including prednisolone and hydroxychloroquine. And I'm on regular retuximab for it too, similar to chemotherapy, that I'm really keen to flush out of my system. Wish you all the very best!!💕

    I like to boil the Swiss chard and once boiled and soft and water is colored, I squeeze a lime in it and add a sprinkle of salt. I really like it this way, I also like to drink the water from this too. I also do this same thing with spinach, that's how my mom got me to eat spinach when I was a kid.

    So i take a prescription medication. Its a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I worry so much because having just started a few days ago, the side effects are soooo harsh. Is there a way to eat something specific to sort of guard against the harmful aspects of the medication? Im vegan but I actually really do need it (the meds). But these side effects 🤦🏽‍♀️ im afraid that its ruining my liver and other organs slowly but surely. Thanks!

    Thoughts on activated charcoal for detoxification purposes?

    • @brian4019
      @brian4019 4 роки тому

      charcoal can only bind to toxins that you've just consumed, as in a poisoning, it won't detox your system. It also will remove vitamins and nutrients from your system - not good. See Business Insider's article "Charcoal detoxing fad exposed for causing vitamin deficiencies"

    NOPE! As an educator, I can't stop thinking that fasting advice is very irresponsible. Fasting is considered a spiritual and religious practice guided by "elders". Now you have teenagers thinking that they can do it without any kind of expert supervision. This is how eating disorders begin. What kind of doctor are you?

    • @DrMonaVand
      @DrMonaVand  4 роки тому +9

      TheChampagneTastes i meant detox pills, supplements, specific diet plans. This is just a list of many clean recipes that you can choose from or, make your own that only includes whole foods. In my previous videos i have mentioned that you can and should do “small daily detoxes” like sweating, eating fruit on an empty stomach, etc :)

    • @brian4019
      @brian4019 4 роки тому +4

      @@DrMonaVand ohboy.. myth after myth bring perpetrated here.. sweating does not eliminate toxins (Harvard Medical Publishing, Mayo Clinic, amongst others). The liver and kidney take care of this process naturally. If the body accumulated toxins and was unable to excrete them, we'd all be sick. Lack of medical knowledge here.

  • @inorgnanica2789
    @inorgnanica2789 3 роки тому

    You seem like a nice person, but if you have a functioning liver and kidney’s you’re effectively ‘detoxing’, no amount of foods or types you eat will make your body ‘detox’. Also, about the mercury in fish thing, as I’m sure you know methylmercury (the bioavaiable compound found in fish) is usually gained from the food chain, and mercury levels vary widely from the type of fish (e.g. if you eat 13 oz of swordfish every day then there might be cause for concern), but the average person doesn’t consume enough fish to really warrant mercury poisoning concern. Additionally, if someone had mercury poisoning would really be alleviated by chlorophyll. The traditional treatment of mercury poisoning/heavy metal toxicity is through chelation therapy, which while algae’s may pose some benefits as chelates, so do things like bread, cereal, garlic, onion, parsley.... the supplement you recommended is $40 for 2 oz, which I think is ironic considering you mentioning marketing scams.I realize you’re a pharmacist, and while I do not doubt the background of science you studied, you’re not a primary care physician, gastroenterologist, nephrologist, etc. And when you make statements about “detoxing” and “eating away cancer cells through diet” (while diet is important it’s kinda bs that the body fights cancer through fasting alone/diet alone) etc, it rings of baseless statements without empirical evidence. It makes me think that you don’t actually know what you’re talking about, if our liver stopped functioning if we didn’t do IF a lot of us would be dead right now. So while I believe your intentions are good, the burden of proof is on you to show your statements hold water. As a professional people will look to you for guidance, so you need to be mindful of what you put out there. Cheers -a premed student
