I Make A Pizza Peel With An Angle Grinder!

- Gift giving is something every woodworker either loves or hates. Because we're always assumed we can make something for every opportunity. With that, I did want to make a gift for my Fiance's Dads 59th Birthday. He is building a huge pizza oven for their camp. So as we brainstormed on what to do, we decided on a pizza peel. This is a tool used to place and remove Pizza's from the oven.
After building the peel i thought it would be best to give it a test first. So i hit up my uncle Vinny and headed to his shop to make a Margarita Pizza!

I also built my fiance a jewelry box for her birthday this year. Check that out here

Getting fancy with those transitions, bro
FYI. The “found it in a river” joke made me laugh. Didn’t go over with the family lol
Hahahahahahahah
I found this project quite appeeling. Nice classic margherita at the end there too. Thanks for sharing!
I’m digging Vinny’s part NY Italian/yinzer combo dialect.
A thing of beauty is a pleasure forever. You gave your father in law a beautiful gift; your time, your knowledge and your thoughts for and about him whilst you made it. We always think of the elders passing skills down the generations, to then give back up the tree is special indeed. Top job.
My favorite thumbnail ever! 😜
And now I'm starving...thanks John! That is awesome and I love the gift reveals...if you hadn't won him over yet, I'm guessing this sealed the deal!
HOpefully i have soon, or else im in for it!
I know this time space travel....it's great..the best..Love Vinnie.
Awesome!
Patent Pending: The Malecki Freedom Curve . It only comes in red, white, and blue.
Wow, need that haha
Love it
Dude, killed it! Great gift, great project. Really love how as you guys work together longer the cinematography keeps getting better and better, great job. Loved the humor/skit in there too. Reminds me that I need to get a new grinder to replace my dead one, and then I'll have no more excuses to start power carving. 👊
That's COOL ! LOVE to cook pizza at home so I know how much a good peel matters. Nice gift and great way to stay in good graces with the future FIL !
Thank you!
Calling Jackman out!! There needs to be a build off of some sort now!
Carving a bridger from PGH to DC !
Hell yeah
Absolutely epic! There will be some really great pizza coming out on that.
Great project!
That’s got to be one of the best if not the best looking pizza peel that I’ve ever seen.
Fun build!
Nice work man!Great job !😎👍👍
Great build and video John! - Ed
FROM ONE VINNY TO ANOTHER. WITH ALL THE DAGO LOVE IN MY HEART, AWESOME VIDEO. IF YOU DIDN'T LAUGH YOU DON'T KNOW A DAGO AND YOU HATE PIZZA. CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE.
Great video John. My first time hitting you up and I can not wait to see your other entertaining vids. I definitely like Uncle Vinnie.
Nice
very nice
I do love pizza . Great build John
Pizza is delicious haha
Awesome 👍👍👍👍👍 and my favorite food truck as well ❤
It is a killer truck my brother!
Very cool. 👍🏽
Thanks Martin
Awesome build john
Thanks anthony !
ha ha...you as the restaurant owner was just too much. Cracked me up! I don't think I've ever seen a pizza peel that long.
Great job and I enjoyed the video John
Thanks Scott, glad you enjoyed it
damn gotta love brick oven pizza
Awesome. And he cooks!
Yea i didnt get this big being useless in the kitchen haha
Yeah, I’m the cook in my family. I claim a kitchen is just a different kind of workshop. It has workbenches, large stationary tools, power hand tools, and lots of sharp things.
You are amazing, how did you learn to do everything that you do? Love to watch!
Love your patriotism and your work.
Thanks MIchael
Fun build! Next project welding a metal pizza oven???? 🤔
Hey John: Great video BUT Vincent Pizza Park on Ardmore Blvd is the place to go test the peel. Love watching the videos of my old home town and will make a peel now too,
Haha Vincents is a good pie!
Nice job John! @mikekapotsy sticker sighting @ 5:33 so that should buy you at least a million views 😂👍
Ngl, pizza looked bomb
Awesome build! Crazy thing is I just finished my pizza peel yesterday! Lol
Boom. Now we're both hungry
@@John_Malecki Damn right! But I don't have any frozen or ingredients to make a pizza!!! Bunch of b.s. lol
Hashpound freedom curve!!!
YES!
Where can I find the grinder wheel you used to carve the wood?
Feels like I'm watching a movie
5:25 Oh the innuendos
I didn't think I could enjoy your videos more. But I really like how you're making your videos informative yet fun. Now that you keep poking Jackman you guys should do a collaborative video of some sort. Though two epic beards maybe too much for one video. :)
The Jackman thing only works after you've glued and clamp fyi
Ah thanks ty
You know that excited way you get when you see one of your favourite builders post a new video? I just got that feeling. Great build as always dude
Thank you!
Branded Freedom curve merch incoming? Get in quick before Mr Diresta beats you to it!
Ya i need to snag that up ASAP
Yeah John you lost it and you love it!!
Off the rocker
Cooking AND woodworking video!?!?! It's like Gordon Ramsey meets Norm Abrams. My stomach approves
as an Italian American, this entire episode triggered me..... I need my safe space. LOL . j/k groovy video! keep on making.
You can be a real barbarian and I love it!
Thanks Juliet, barbarians are the inspiration for most of my life hahahah
That camera movement... somebody is watching Peter McKinnon?
How thick did it end up being?
Tell me about that tool pouch. I've been thinking about making one.
Custom made from Dragonfly woodworks !
@@John_Malecki thanks! I want to make mine like a paddle holster so I can slip it on/off.
Beautiful peel but that was a fugly pizza crust brother. LOL
Come on dude, it wasnt the most round but still got the job done!
0:16 Have you been watching Peter McKinnon
What tool pouch is that???
Custom made from Dragonfly woodworks
Can I get one with a large pepperoni?
Totally going to make one of these as the next pallet wood project I do. @jbowoodcraft #jbowoodcraft
I would highly advise to not put pallets near food haha
@@John_Malecki I'm extremely care with my pallet wood lumber selection and only use the heat treated kind, if they are not stamped correctly I only use them for nonfood items. Definitely will consider avoiding it though just a quick fire thought haha
@@jakebudde3235 It's good that you check out the pallet wood for markings, but around here, we never use pallet wood for food service. While the wood may be safe by way of treatment, it could have carried chemicals that spilled on the wood that would make it unsafe again.
Not sure there was enough cheese in the video 🤣
Dude, what happened to the Blue Sparrow link? Where's the PGH love?
What team did you play for ?🤣
That’s a pizza peel! My peel is only beveled on one side. I wonder which way is better
You make a fantastic Pizza Paddle, but, please, stick to woodworking and leave pizza making to me. Thank you :)
Hahaha buck, you teach me your wise ways !
9:56 clearly he hasn't see your shop if that is "homemade." If that's homemade I don't even want to begin to think about what my stuff should be called!
It was found in a river 😂
Good job John, but your paddle is too thick, much too thick.
the pizza peel is great, but you deserve more than a like for the fact you cooked a real pizza: tomato, mozzarella, basil and a bit of extra vergin olive oil. no need to put hundreds ingredients on it.
good job, by an italian.
GLad you enjoyed it my friend !
So you got a guy who "works" at a pizza shop that doesn't make pizza. You smell that? It smells awfully fishy.
Good GAWD. This is a exercise in expending the greatest effort for the absolute minimum return. First of all find even a modest router to create the various profiles you're after. But more importantly mount it in a sled and use a planing box setup to achieve a linear taper from heel (3/8~1/2") to toe (1/8") uniformly on both blade surfaces. What you've wound up with here will dump the contents of a pizza off the raw dough onto the oven floor. The problem is the angle of departure is far too steep and is unlikely to be usable for anything other than a lightly loaded Neapolitan pie as shown here, where sparse toppings can remain adhered to the excessively flexing crust as it is unloaded. Even then it is a clumsy tool which will be retired to collecting dust after frustrating the user. Note a wooden peel is typically large relative to the pie diameter and is used for makeup and transfer to the oven. A smaller round metal peel is normally needed for longer duration manipulation of the pie in the hot oven and removal when done.
I see you've fully transitioned to the "act annoying in ever shot" UA-camr.
Come one dude, you forgot the "y" in every, if you're gonna throw jabs you can use proper grammar, i expect better Christopher
First!
