War Thunder is a highly detailed vehicle combat game containing over 2000 playable tanks, aircraft, and ships spanning over 100 years of development. Immerse yourself completely in dynamic battles with an unparalleled combination of realism and approachability.
SURPRISE (again)! A Mann’s Guide to the Huntsman is real. It wasn’t a bait-and-switch, this is a double feature.
Some people think that gaming guides should teach the viewer how to use an item or a character in the most optimal, effective way possible. Some people think that guides have to be a serious, well-informed take on a technique or style of play. Some people are stupid. Why bother being optimal with a weapon when you can be a true Mann Co. Mercenary and run around using it like a bumbling idiot? It's way more fun if you do that.

Nobody is going to respect the sniper, period. you're either kicked for being a cheater or you're insulted for using the huntsman. There is no in-between, even if you're bad at the class.
@@sasukedemon888888888 What a sad reality we live in. But I guess all we can do is deal with it until the time for Sniper getting respect comes in

Huntsman except it's a crossbow, you can store a shot for immediate firing, making it behave more like a traditional weapon, at the cost of some charge time and no tap fire. But, you can move at full speed while scoped, once you've finished loading.
Fun fact: because the player's projectile hitbox is a giant cube that doesn't rotate, some angles are easier to hit. That's why the questionable arrows.
See, if you shoot Northeast, Northwest, Southeast or Southwest, you can get shots like 5:35.

The snippet of Soundsmith narrowing his eyes in frustration at the Huntsman at 1:44 makes me laugh every single time I watch it. Just this expression of "You little s***"
no stats? *bombastic sideeye*
In regards to the whole “the stock can still do all the close range stuff” bit, I do think it’s worth mentioning that it’s WAY easier to do all that with the huntsman. Sure you CAN quick scope at point blank range, but most people aren’t going to be able to do that reliably. I sure can’t, but huntsman flicks are a lot easier to get the hang of.
Almost as if it's not really a genuine point and he just wanted to bash the huntsman; albeit just to tee up the drama of "wait the huntsman is GoOd?" right afterwards.
@@Neovipaor to say that it takes a bit of practice, but when you get it down, the Rifles are more consistently good. Whereas the Huntsman has its niches… which is what a sidegrade is 100%.
TF2 players have this thing about assuming that anyone who even remotely tries to play Sniper seriously is some master who can hit every possible quickscope, to the point that it dominates discussions about the class as if it were just some built-in thing literally anyone can do from the first time they pick up the game.
@@BeesechurgerProductions im pretty sure most balance discussion, regardless of game, is centered around mid/high level play. iirc thats why the base jumper was nerfed in JI. doesnt really make sense to me for discussion to center around lower levels of play when discussing the potential of a given weapon/character.
@@snwoop7921 Even mid to high level players are gonna struggle with close range quickscopes though.
Especially if your opponent actually employs the obviously overpowered tactic of... Strafing instead of running straight at you. In fact id argue that they are even harder to get down in high level play in a lot of situations since high level players usually know not to approach pretty much any class in a predictable manner, much less a sniper.
The only ones able to reliably pull this off are either bots, cheaters or people who have so much experience playing sniper that they fall out of any reasonable degree of balance discussion concerning the remainder of the playerbase.
Sniper may be frustrating to fight at times, but frustrating and nerf worthy are two pretty distinct things. Its why a lot of balance discussion confuses me because for some reason people deem soldiers or demos (albeit powerful) perfectly fine balance wise despite the fact they can delete half a team on their own under the right circumstances without even requiring all that much mechanical skill, but the squishy pick class specialized in long range is the overpowered one because top level players can make up for the weakness through their mechanical skill to save themselves in a clutch situation or make picks that are game winning.
I know as well as any other how unfun it is to get killed by snipers, I frequently play medic and occasionally heavy so usually im pretty high priority, but the weird reputation sniper has built up over the recent years feels (at least imo) very overblown, if not downright disingenuous at times.
The real balancing issues affecting sniper lie within his unlocks in my eyes, jarate is one of the most powerful tools he has available, especially since its so spammable and turns the bushwacka from a niche tool into almost a straight upgrade, while the bazaar bargain effectively erases its own downside if youre at least somewhat competent at sniper. And dont even get me started on stuff like the two "I turned your class gimmick off for free" shields.
You may have gotten us the first time, but not this time… we knew you’d give us this masterpiece eventually.
I didn’t.

Im a lil confused, can I get a manns guide to a manns guide?
Krunkidile is an absolute chef with SFM. The animations are so lifelike, you'd swear they were using mocap!
So you're telling me that Soundsmith tricked us into beliveing he was doing a Manns guide on the huntsman and actually did one on the backburner only to TRICK US AGAIN by doing a Mann's guide to the Huntsman after that

So is the Huntsman basically the Sniper’s equivalent of the Beggar’s Bazooka? Both are excellent for achieving accidental kills.
Yeah pretty much
Both have the power of accidental kills
Both have surprising tech
Both have the power/curse of RNG
Both have oddly handy mobility effecting abilities
It pretty much functions similarly to other projectiles like the rocket and grenade launchers, in that it's viable and often sensible to fire in the general direction of the enemy. It's really not as crazy when you think about it that way.

Man, Soundsmith, you are absolutely goated
Wait a minute don't I recognise you from somewhere?
Legitimately brought a tear to my eye when the video suddenly got serious about the negative stigma around the Huntsman... then you immediately went upbeat again.
This madman played us like a damn fiddle. He got our hopes up for A Mann’s Guide to the Huntsman only to trick us with A surprise backburner *THEN* he tricks us again by actually doing A Mann’s Guide to the Huntsman while we were distracted watching One Mann’s Trash. I am truly in shock and awe at how much he has done this year. Good job soundsmith.
Can I just say, as an animator, how well animated some of the SFM bits are here? It's not flashy, but between this and the Backburner video, there's some of the most impressive SFM character animation I've seen in a while. Big props!
Important note: Soundsmith didn't make it
Also you seem to forget about people that do 50 times longer animations and with 30 times better quality all by themselves - alone. Such as Winglet. But agree, it is good animation after all.
"By picking this weapon, you are basically sacrificing any respect the enemy team may have for you"
If I wanted respect I wouldn't play Sniper.

okay whoever pitched this idea to soundsmith of making a reference to that one scout cirno fumo video is a genius
and if soundsmith was the one who wrote this joke in, then that means he at least somewhat indulges in tf2 memes and is also aware of fumos
the character development is insane
HOLY CRAP THE MUSIC DURING THE TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES IS THAT SONG EVERYONE USES BUT WITH THE STEREOTYPES INSTRUMENT
Oh i am so glad im not the only one who noticed it
Without a doubt it was SerialArtistry. That demon usually storyboards for soundsmith and he's the guy who memed warpaint stereotypes into reality so it's not far off of something he'd suggest.
Also the music was originally used for a collection of all the stereotypes without some of the older and longer gags and I gotta say it's stupidity and cleverness cannot be untapped.
eh, about the fumo, I'm sure he was aware of Touhou before this. He inserted in Touhou GIFs in a Spy Cosmetics Stereotypes video.
@@jamesbrendan5170 Yea, the Remilia finger twirl and Reisen over Lucky Star, but the context of that edit was him making fun of weeaboo spy mains who overedit everything, so I didn't really consider him knowing about Touhou since he was probably just looking for "generic anime kawaii edit" gifs and pngs and they just happened to pop up because of how popular Touhou is in Japan.
"Huntsman takes no skill"
"dying to an arrow in the face also takes no skill, my friend"
Having watched this video like 5 times since it released, I still can’t get over the Weaponized Jank section’s music. I adore how Baby Park’s backing track opens the section, and the full song doesn’t start until we see the words Weaponized Jank. I’ve always loved Audio and Visuals syncing to tell a story.

2:14 I love the technical difficulties graphic along side the stereotypes theme.
7:45 the thing is,that you probably wouldn't be so aggressive with the sniper rifle. You could've hit these shots, but you wouldn't probably be there
Nice to see someone else realize the value of the huntsman. There's a reason I spent way too much money on a strange professional kill streak huntsman with an invisible spy kill counter and named it "The Bow-ner"

The montage at 16:12 is easily some of your best work yet. I originally subbed for stereotypes, but like you, I've moved on from that and have come to appreciate you for just how dang funny you are, and how dang good your edits are. Your Huntsman content in particular is usually some of my favorite, so this entire video is already above the rest, but I just can't get enough of that montage with how good the editing is.
4:47 wot (fucking explodes)
I love the animation so God damn much, SO much expression. And the lazy purple cameo had me straight up busting it down. I can't express how funny the bit and his appearance in general is.
14:39 i audibly gasped at how funny this is
PUT THIS AS A SHORT I've watched it like 5 times
The points made at 7:00 pretty much summarise all my success with the huntsman completely. Rather the learning how to calculate the projectile in a fluid environment it's far easier to just get used to where the various "high probability" areas are on a map.
Every map has those chokes, doorways, corridors, and corners where there are always going to have people flowing through them. So once you know the rough head height angle to fire the arrow, it's a super high chance it's going to hit -someone-.
I like that, in the section where soundsmith is showing off his smithed sounds...the puff from the flamethrower's pilot light matches up with the veloceraptors hiss
The jerma bit with the spy had me fucking rolling on the floor you soundsmith are a gentleman and a scholar
Jermaaaaa!
These are so high quality it's insane. The sfm bits kill me, comedic pacing and editing is so good. Absolutely KILLING it with these last two Mann's guides, keep it up!

I love how this guy will make amazing sfm bits and then two minutes later we get a gmod scene

As someone who didn't watch this channel from december 6 and december 21 I must say this is an amazing sequel to a Mann's guide to the Big Earner!
Thanks for the early Christmas present SoundSmith! The Huntsman holds a special place for me as when I was first getting into TF2 I was playing on a cheap laptop with only a touchpad and no mouse. The huntsman was the only way I could play sniper without going insane and I grew to love it, even though my main now is the sleeper lol.

this might be my favorite Sam Smith video ever made. the bait and switch with the back burner only to lead to actually doing the Huntsman and it being such a quality video like this is absolutely magnificent.
So first of all let me just say, this is hands down the most well done video you have made to date. Everything is absolutely on point. The jokes, the animation, the sound design, the script itself. It is actually amazing. I don't how much effort and time went into this one, especially considering you released two at once, but this one is genuinely amazing. Congratulations.
I've never been so sure that I was going to hear Rick Astley singing and been wrong
This is an Uber plot twist. This is how it feels to play medic with a crossbow you can’t trick me lazy purple.
The most common consensus for the janky hitbox is because it's base is close if not based on rockets (it's already a projectile so no extra work has to be done to create a whole new kind of projectile), it's teleport is a relic of how splash works for rockets.
You’ve been working incredibly hard dude. The animation and quality of this video is super good, and the fact you posted this only 2 weeks after the Backburner video is insane.
Love your videos dude, hope you continue with them :)
ALSO, a suggestion I have for a future video is “A Mann’s Guide to the Quickie-bomb Launcher” as it’s a criminally underrated weapon with enough depth to make a 30 minute video on it.
I love that Lazy keeps randomly showing up in tf2 videos across the platform in order to let his fans know he's alive still lol.
